    1991 Honda CRX Si

i love my car! it's got it's flaws for sure, ill just let you guys think it's pristine Sefugi, you know me well. Either that or you can read sigs? haha Bassahulic, i am def. set on 4 12s. Just not what brand. Fcon looks nice. And i still have no idea how to get them all to face forward Thanks for all the comments!
  4. Ok, i had the car running. sounded fine at 14.4V. turned the car to acc. i believe, and as the voltage dropped the noise came. This makes total sense to me considering if the amp receives too low of a voltage then it will start to distort the sound, AKA my static sound? Listening to the noise more closely the music also lessens with the lower voltage. I've never listened/owned a system with the front stage ran off an amp. I'm just not used to this, it's all new to me. i can check the run or accessory position after i get out of class, in a couple hours. HU should be fine, i didn't mess with that at all, just plugged a couple RCAs into it. Update: my car only has labeled 1, 2 and start. i was talking about position 1 => accessory, if this changes anything. Im pretty sure it's just from the amp not getting enough power.
  5. Alrighty, so i finally got my front stage installed. But when i first turned everything on each speaker has just about as much, if not more, static than music output. I tried messing with the Xover setting and such, but nothing seemed to change it. Amp: Sundown 100.4 HU: JVC KDs100 Mids: AA carbon fibers Tweets: Seas Prestige 27TFFNC/G (H1396) I've only tinkered with the speakers playing for ~10 minutes, for fear of damaging anything. I'm at a loss of what could make this kind of noise, to every speaker. makes me think it has to do with the amp? All of this stuff is brand new. I did plug in one mid, might have done the other i dont remember, to my factory speaker wire from the HU to see them play, but they sounded fine. When i hooked a tweeter to the same location there was some static, i just figured that was from too low of a signal from the HU. All of these plug ins have been >1 min. All of the RCAs, 1/2 of the speaker wire, 4 gauge power wire, and a remote bass knob wire are all run pretty close together. I've seen that that can effect sound, and i've seen that power wire is so well shielded that it's out of the question now. Is this a possibility?

    SA-8 for SQ?

The OP asked for more of a SQ setup, "I selected a SA-8 as a Demo sub for my community. It happens that the majority have small cars, children, & want to save some trunk space shopping. also they listened to a wide genre not just rap. overall they want to hear nice sounding bass (quality more than output)... Can someone advised me ideas and experince using an SA-8 for SQ applications". So M5 posting about the quality of music they want is completely relevant, while your spl comments aren't, in this case.
  7. nope, i dont have one but idk how to plug mp3s directly to the amp. If i knew i could try, what would that prove, if it didnt have any static in the accessory position?
  8. installed them. plugged one in, the FIRST time unplugging it (was trying to figure out a noise problem) it broke, the plastic part surrounding the end metal pieces came off. Didn't really damage anything. i assume the glue just came undone. it still works fine. And they're ugly and dont match my other RCA, klarity. which is annoying to me. and that they said i would get something other than what i received.
  9. Yes, the civic. I have a stinger volt meter hooked up the the power and ground of my sub amp, which was reading mid to high 12s. But i can check that in more detail for you, and see if i notice any correlation. White noise like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL4Qif1qT1M I would say it's more of bad radio freq. static (im listening to a CD) Ill try and get a recording for you tomorrow, hope that my camera can pick the sound up and what's happening.
  10. no, i dont like them. you could get them and then upgrade when the new klear come out, or get some from another company.
  11. Yeah, i got 2 of those. i really dont like them. I'm going to try and get new ones. But, yes, if you get that and the amp kit that i've linked you will need another RCA cable. That will work. LMK what they say when you call them tomorrow.. While you're at it just tell them what you're doing and they will let you know what you need as well. Could have just done that in the beginning lol Just for another reassurance factor
  12. Any different combo of RCAs plugged in didnt' change the static. Again, it's only when the car is off. If i turn the car on they sound fine, then if i turn the car from on to Acc. they sound fine for a couple min. then fade back to static. Any ideas?
  13. If you're going to get THIS kit you're going to need another RCA anyways, you know this though
  14. OH! heads up before you order. if they are advertising the klarity RCAs, you wont get them. make sure they have changed the add to show you're going to be getting eKo RCAs. That happened to me when i ordered the 4 gauge 4 channel kit from them. they said the klarity kables are being remade for 2011. This may have changed, if it has so quick im going to be pissed and give them a call...

    SA-8s Sold Out Again

demand > supply makes it hard to keep stock. That's a good thing!
  16. ahh, i was doing that last night, i dont know if it changed much, ill try that now. It is def. only when the car is off.
  17. They are in there permanently, i wanted them to be. I had no intentions to take them out, but i can do it if needed. I've got a sub output, front and rear. rear to channel 1 and 3? (mids) and front to 2 and 4(tweeters). I'm using 2 Knu Eko RCA cables for the 4 channel amp. M5, i am using the amp crossover settings. im not sure what you mean about the RCAs though. I turned the car on this morning and it sounded pretty decent, last night when i was messing with them the car was off. It seems to make a difference, I dont know what would make that change though..
  18. yeah, as stated, the Sundown Audio 100.4
  19. It all is/was. Everything at 0.
  20. That isn't enough. i just put 40 feet of 14 gauge in my CRX, (4 ~10 foot runs) and it was BARELY enough. i would wait 'till they have more in stock of what you want. or buy somewhere else.

    21 inches of TERROR

remember to brace your car's roof and all lol
  22. Either or. If you dont want to use the extra 2 channels, i THINK you can just run one channel of RCAs to the amp and it shouldn't tell the other channels to do any work? Again, im not too sure on this. But if you do bridge them, then just be cautious with the gain/volume knob so you dont blow nice and shiny new stuff up
