Lupo GTI Build Log - Ascendant Audio, SPL Dynamics, XS Power
emh9009 replied to BILTD's topic in Ascendant Audio
very nice. :drink40: -
Yeah the were to put them is on my mind. What I'm planning will require 14 fuse holders, so figuire that kind of space. I wire up my amps, and before I mount the fuse I use a test light across the fuse connections so it keeps from sparking when you put in the fuse. I think you need to go more custom with that amount of fuses. Get a chunk of copper or 2 and just make your own, should be better on space and possibly cost less. Just some bolts and wood even, can't be too hard to make what you plan on buying, right?
-
If you're looking at them for the little price difference remember to add a dollar or two because of this ^^. But if size is a concern they seems like a good bet. Shogen, these are about average size, as far as im concerned. My knu fuse holder is about the same size, but over double the price

i've got a 15" bl, very happy with it. sounds like you've got the right plan going for ya'

Thoughts on the CD?
-
Yeah I was looking at those Ciare 8.50NdW as well myself, still am but I had to jump on these tweets. They seem to do what I want specs wise, as close to nice sounding horns/tweets as I can get and the quality is top notch. Which makes me want to get there mids as well, I know they will be sweet to have. Im still interested in those Sundown Neo-Pro 8''s so I wont make a purchase on some 8''s till Jacob releases some specs on his drivers to compare with the other's im interested in. I would be down for some of the Sundown mids, but the power rating confuses me. There is something about a mid that can handle 3-400 watts that puts a smile on my face. inefficiency puts a smile on your face?

Wish i knew what was going on. Crazy battery story though.
-
Sounds like you are good to me, but what do I know? you're the one i go to when i need a question answered, when you're not sure who do i have to ask? Goodness forbid i have to call XS power
-
i BELIEVE for hair tricks and all you want to get a ton of port area, not sure on that. I'm always getting confused when trying to figure how much to use. Do you mean you want to first build it for numbers, then once you reach some goal retune and all for a ground pounder?
-
Nice set of equipment so far! what else is planned.. AKA where is your build log??
-
Just checked both, and they're sitting at 12.8 each. Drove about 2 hours ago. Everyone says that XS normally float at 13.2. Think the 1200, being older, is causing the lower voltage, or could it be from just needing a longer charge than what i've given them?
-
Well i hope that the 1200 isn't "weak" and hurts the 5100, didn't really think of that before i bought it. Is it bad to put them on multiple couple hour charges, you think? Like with the 6 hour charge over the weekend, if i do that again this weekend would that help at all, or would it matter? I can't go three days without driving my car. Side note: just ordered some brake pads (hawk HPS) and rotors (oem) for the rear brakes. I'll get the fronts done soon as well, but the rears are in need while the front ones have a while left on them.
-
Yeah, had it charging for a few (6 ish) hours. front one was reading 14.2 and the rear was 13.8 is that normal? Seems like a large difference to me, but i'm new to multiple batteries.
-
That side by side pic. is great. Makes the CDT look like a shallow mount!
-
lotsa' progress! Dons are sexy. Big 3 wiring is clean, do you solder your terminals, or crimp, i cant tell.
-
got my terminals on saturday, all of them Work great, just as expected. Thought the shipping was kinda' high, but that doesnt matter considering the price of the terminals themselves. Ill order from them again.
-
What was the problem?? You went from to Great to hear the 100.4 is ok!! Thought i shorted the amp out on the battery. Well, i did, but the fuses saved it. So it's all gravy now. Have the charger on the front battery, but i'm getting different readings on the front and back battery. should i just keep the charger on the front one 'till they're both at the same voltage? or what's up?

Difference between 4" and 3" voice coil?
emh9009 replied to dylan3301's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Yup, but would be nice if you wanted a larger amp in the future? -
with that size alt you should be fine. If you do see voltage drop (lights dim or whatever) then you could replace your starting battery or add a second battery. Expect a couple hundred for a battery. XS will be what i recommend For sure do the big 3, just three wires. I say PROPERLY because I had a friend who paid some "professionals" to fix a power problem due to his audio equipment and it turned out they masked the problem and it ended up destroying his alternator. haha did they put a cap. in there?
-
what size is your alt? We can't really tell. This is a "you have to install it all and see from there" type of situation.

Also, i bought an amp from them years ago. I had a little problem with the amp and the sent me a new one, no problem. So i was happy, no problems after that.
-
What's your SSf set to/box tuned to? Probably were bottoming out the sub. Figure out what went wrong before you fix the speaker and break it again in the same situation.
-
Scratch the "scratch that"! Replaced some blown fuses, learned a lesson. Amp is working fine. Xs power D1200 is in. Ill get some pictures soon, not much but i'm excited.
