I remember you saying you were going to measure and check if PE's speaker grills were going to fit your 8 and 10" drivers, did you ever get around to that. Assume they would work for these if they do for those. Pre-sale go on 'till right before you get them?

Depends on your goals. But I'm sure you're going to be happy with either. Personally would go with the SSDs though.

Welcome. Advise would be to not jump on a bandwagon just because a lot of people like a company. Do your own independent research on the products that interest you and make sure they fit your goals and budget. Try not to get stuck on a single item just because you heard it was "teh best ampz". A little research and being open to ideas will take you a long way and make you much happier in the end.

Sorry for such the late reply, haven't been on in a while. I sold these a while ago. Was pretty darn impressed with them, while never giving them the power they wanted. I wish I still had them actually.. As stated they're sold out. Very nice mids. Added a video of these playing on the first post.

Ascendant Audio Carbon Fiber Mids Hey there. I figured I would make this thread to clear some info up, since these questions seem to come up a lot about these. I received mine in the mail today and started to take pictures and measure right away. If you want to know anything else that I don't state about them, let me know and I will do my best to answer them. 1.) What size are they? The outer diameter of the whole driver is JUST under 7", but that may be my tape measure. The mounting ring is 1/2" wide, which leaves 6" for cone+surround. Surround is another ~1/2" so the cone is ~5" from the inside of the surround to the other side. 2.) What's the mounting depth? From the bottom of the magnet to the top of the frame it is JUST under 3.5". The mounting plate is ~3/16". 3.) What is the voice coil resistance? The carbon fiber mids are rated at 4 ohm, each. I don't know if it's just my meter or what but when I measured this they were down to about 2 - 2.5 ohm. I think it was coincidence I happened to take the picture right at 3.9 ohm. 4.) What's a good frequency range? That's going to depend on install a bit, but I see them run around 60-2500 (ish) mostly, so that's where ill start my setting at. We will see when I get them installed. 5.) How much do these run? You need to contact a dealer to get some of these, or even a price quote. You can go HERE to contact them and find a dealer. I bought mine from SSA user BKOLF04. You can also pm him and he can tell you if there is a closer dealer to you or not. Let me know what else you want to be measured or what not. Video of when I still had these.

Build a box that fit the RF specs and tune to a lower freq. and see how you like that before you spend much more money on new subs. Either way you're getting a new box, so there is no reason not to try this.

Love the WRX. Have you seen the new model coming out? BRZ looks pretty nice. I've read that the forge BPVs are kinda' unreliable. Any problems with yours?

Ahh, I was thinking this was like a 300$ custom fit pre-fab type thing. That's not bad then, and makes total sense for your application, thanks for the clarification! Shouldn't be anything but happy with those drivers. Did you end up getting any options added? I'm sure adding mass to the door will help with resonance, not sure what you're looking to get with adding mass as you didn't state your goal with such an act.
