Everything was working fine last night. This morning i turn on the car and i can hear static coming from the woofer. I figured it was the subwoofer coil rubbing or something. Well i try 2 other subwoofers and i get the same result. Everything seems to work fine except there's static that kind of sounds like rubbing styrofoam together. I tried everything to rule out other components and still the same result. Strangely enough the amp works fine apart from that. So i have no clue what to do now. Do i just send it in to get repaired or what? I never thought i'd have any problems with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Found something interesting. Looks like this little guy is cracked/busted. Doesn't seem normal since it's the only one that looks this way. Wonder is this is the reason for this weird issue. Besides the noise everything works the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAF548VDj20

Yea i think i'll go ahead and do that. Got it from the SSA store.

Ok so i made a quick video to get a better idea of the "static" problem. This was after trying a different amp, which worked just fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttd33sb8z_c I guess there's only one thing i can do. Send it back to get fixed. Used a multimeter to check impedance and it wasn't as bad while i had it on but still there.

Tried a different amp and it works just fine. I'll post a video of the issue.

could be a signal issue...try swapping RCA's...or switch the output from your HU...and did you try gaining down a little to see if it goes away? I tried everything except switching amps. I doubt that's the issue though but that's the next thing i'm trying.

my gain is set about in the middle, i set gain by ear. and my amp is rated to 500W RMS @ 4 ohms, but i dont know how much sub is actually getting :/ What brand is the amp? It could be 500w @ 4 ohm at 12.5v, 13.8v or 14.4v.

Ok so i was looking for a couple of 10 inch subs that don't cost too much but still can do the job with no problems. 500w RMS each and good sound plus some good excursion. Then i find this sub. Now i know Phoenix Gold is not the best out there but these things look pretty solid. Link for pics/specs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18824_Phoenix+Gold+RSdC104+-RSdC+104-.html So does anyone know anything about these? I'm open to suggestions as well. I will be using a Sundown SAZ 1000 to power them. Any info on this at all? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Can i just buy a couple of those anyway lol they're a steal. Alright so the SSD won't be going anywhere for some time. Does anyone have any reccomendations for 5.25 speakers?
-
I saw these but i have no clue if they're dual 4 ohm or not. If they are then i can't read or something lol because i wanted a couple.

Yea $200 for a pair of subs isn't much. I pretty much have my mind set on getting those. I checked out a bunch of subs and there's always something i dont like about them. From specs to looks there's really not much out there. I could get some kickers but damn everyone gets kicker. Now i just have to sell the Fi SSD 12 i have and get the PG's. I heard good highs before the Fi and i heard really good lows with the Fi so im curious how this is going to end up. Then i'll be set for a while and can save up for some real drivers . what dont you like about the SSD? I like the SSD it's a beast on lows but cuts off pretty early on the high end. And also i want to change to two 10's. In sub woofers, cone size has very little to do with frequency response. I suggest rebuilding your box, adjust your tuning and amp setting, and/or have your mid-bass' come down lower, if not improve your mid-bass speakers. I think you're right about the front stage. I should focus on that instead. Speakers should be able to fill in the higher frequencies. Don't fix it if it ain't broken. Or fix what's not working out.

I think you make a good point. Maybe i should stick with it for a while then. I would get another but it weighs so much. And then there's the box...

That does seem a bit odd to compare those with a w7 and idmax. Maybe they meant the sound quality who knows. All i know is they sound great with 500w and they are priced right at 190 for a pair. My concern is if they're gonna last. Only 1 way to find out i guess.
-
Hey thanks man that definately helps. I went thru so many 10's and those really caught my eye. Budget wise they fit right in.
-
pound that sound enclosures blow my mind. this one is deffinately one of them. Looks super clean.

I thought the title was very funny. Then i was so what it break? LOL Kapn.K love how he puts the beer there Oh and i prefer using regular miller mmmm that reminds me its about that time.

Ok so i was wondering if anyone here can reccomend a 1ohm 1000w RMS mono amp to use with a 12" SSD? I chose BP power and copper coil for the options. Also i was wondering if there would be a difference between 1000w RMS @ 4 ohm and 1000w RMS @ 1 ohm. Right now its running 4ohm but the highs are not that loud. Lights dim more but its not as loud compared to lower notes.
-
Well i was really hoping to use only a single 12" woofer, even if the box is a bit large. With two subs the high bass notes were much stronger, and these were not the best subs. Now i have better lows but the only thing high bass notes do is dim my lights a good amount. So instead of upgrading the wiring from the battery i was thinking about adding a battery close to the amp and eventually upgrading the wiring from there and later on the amp. Thats if adding the extra battery gives me some good strong high bass notes. My rear view mirror moves from those notes the most and it's not very happy right now. The head rests are making fun of it. I like this sub i cant just replace it cause i dont have enough power for it thats just wrong lol

Would something like this work? I cheated by the way. 3/4 MDF 4.5 cu ft 32.8 hz before displacement Width 34 height 18.5 depth 17 sq port height 17 sq port width 2.5 sq port length 13.75 sq port area 42.5 sq port diameter 7.35 total port length 18.25 i like to keep it simple so all cuts are 17" top - 34 bottom - 34 left - 16.25 right - 15.5 front - 30.75 back - 34 port L1 - 13 Im thinking both subs in the same arispace. Some bracing couldn't hurt in the middle section.

Stock electrical only the battery is different. Energizer brand 500 cca. I was looking at some power cells. Something like the Kinetik HC 600.

$250-$300 is what i had in mind. The wiring is monster cable from battery to capacitor (saving for trunk cell or battery) and from there Fosgate wiring. Would it make any sense to keep the wiring and add a battery and then run 4 or 2 awg from there? Voltage goes in the 13's with the car running and 11's turned off when it gets pretty loud. The higher the bass note, the less i can hear it and thats when the lights dim the most. I know its only a single 12" but thats making me think i just dont have the juice to really play those notes. And once agian its back to the drawing board.
