3x DBdrag Show pics from Vegas | Bonus Pic inside

It was good to see you at the show hope you had a good time in Vegas -
I'm toying with the idea of switching my low end to 2 18" Q's in a ported enclosure powered by 2 Kicker XS100's putting out 1300 watts RMS @1ohm (my current low end is 16 rockford P1 10's in a sealed enclosure) My goal is to play/demo loud and clean but still hit the same #'s I am currently doing (151 burp, 150.5 Street Beat) does this seem do-able with these subs? I've always been a sealed box person but there are so many 2 sub ported systems keeping up with me that I think I need an edge out there in the lanes.

Have you tried Taylor Swifts "Teardrops On My Guitar"? I kept demoing that at finals, it really drew a crowd. There are some really crazy notes on that song.

Good article it explained alot, I personally feel I fall into the catagory of playing music loud, i mean why build a system to burp high numbers on a meter that I see maybe 5 times a year. After reading the article the Xmax is not as important as getting a proper enclosure built so I think 2 BL 18's in a proper ported enclosure might be the way to go so it will play music clean and loud (to the ear of course), that is the problem I have now my 16 10's are brutal when listening to music but on the meter I'm only doing a 151 then of course you get to hear all the smart arses saying "oh that many subs it should be louder" and you can't tell them its with using $50 subs on "100" watt amps in a sealed enclosure.

I just figured the Q has more cone movement than the BL so it would get more output and I know I do not have enough power for the BTL and too much power for a SSD. So I should be researching the BL if I want to do this although I do prefer Street Beat and demoing the car at shows but with the amps I have I get to stay in Mod 0-1000 without pulling amps at finals, I know its all give and take
-
Just a question, what amps were you using? I wanted to run 2 FI SSD 18's with a Kicker XS100 (1300 watts at 1ohm) to each but was told that is not enough power, how did it sound on music?
-
There you go. In the rear I am running 3 Kinetik HC2400's, currently under the hood I am running a Kinetik HC800 but I just ordered a Kinetik HC1200 to replace the HC800. I am using an Ohio Generator 186 amp alt.. I have added a Missing Link voltage control module http://www.missinglinkaudio.com/ and all wiring is 0 guage, I think I have the power for a 3000D at .5 ohm just the lower the ohm load the hotter the amp runs (in my experience) I have my Fosgates running at 1ohm and even with the "fan" cooling they get real hot in the summer to the point where they actually cut power in half due to thermal protect so 2 amps strapped at 2ohm in theory should perform just fine and not get super hot.

Thanx for the replie, my problem is I have 16 8ohm subs so I can either run strapped at 2ohm or run like a 3000D at .5 ohm and even though I keep reading they can handle it I am not a big fan of running at .5ohm dailey, especially since here in Vegas it is between 115 and 120 degrees for 3 months out of the year. I currently have 300 watts to my subs and my goal for the system is 150 and right now I am sitting at 149.7 so I don't need alot of power to get there thats why I was hoping for 3500 watts strapped at 2ohm. Again thanx for the reply. Tom

Hey Jacob, just curious I see the 1500D listed but I thought this amp was no more, does this mean have some in stock? Thanx, Tom
-
First off, congrats on the record. I have a question about your set-up, I see from the pics that you have the 1500's strapped and you say they are doing 3500-3600 watts, I'm just curious as to what ohm load you are running them at strapped? I'm looking for just about that much power and was wondering if you got that at 2ohm strapped or if you went lower on the ohm. Thanx and again congrats

is this yours? If so, I met you a few times in Vegas and the phoenix area shows...welcome to the site. Yep, thats me ol' bucket, please refresh my memory as to who you are. See I'm an old man and my memory isn't what it used to be, lol. I don't know if I demoed the vehicle for you, I try to demo it for anyone that asks, but if you did hear it I know the 3000D will make it louder and possibly cleaner (I should finally get that darm 150) Unfortunately I had a horrible trip to a show in Cali and destroyed most of my mids so I am in the process of rebuilding my doors and getting the mid amps repaired so it looks like another month or so before I can pick one of these bad boys up but Jacob just posted he has more in so hopefully I can still get one. Thanx for welcoming me to the site. Later, Tom

I'm not very knowlegeable when it gets to the technical stuff but in the test repot it showed 3237 watts at .6ohm with voltage resting at 14.5v - 10.5v but the setup description was showing 2guage wire between batteries and 4guage wire going to the amp but in my vehicle I have 0/1 guage between batteries and if I ran 0/1 guage to the amp then the output numbers should be higher than THE 3237 listed, if I am correct, and the 2900 "dirty" watts I am getting from my 2 fosgate amps will be more than eclipsed by 1 3000d. I was thinking of 2 Audioque 2200D's strapped for my 16 10's but I think this will be a better way to go. I think I might be picking one up, thanx.

so what kind of power will this amp do at 14volts at .5ohm?
-
Just curious, can this amp run daily .5 ohm and if so what will the power output be at 14v? I currently have 2 Fosgate T10001BD's running master/slave at 1ohm each and total power output at 14v is around 2900 watts, just curious if this would make much of a difference from what I already have.

Have you heard from any of your competitors if anyone has tried to protest your amps? I'm just wondering what would be a more safe way to go the 3000 which is rated at 800x1 at 4ohm or the 3500 which is ratede at 750x1 at 4ohm, its possible that the 3000 will be closer to 1000 at 4ohm. Duran, the CEA rating means everything now, the last competition I was at my T10001BD's were protested a competitor in my class claimed they were CEA rated at 600 not 500 so the judge had to pull out "the book" with all amp CEA ratings to make sure I was in the right class. It was the first time it has happened to me but now I see it does happen so I just want to play within the rules thats all
-
I really like the amp rating of 750x1 at 4ohm, is that CEA-2006 rated? I compete in USACi mod 0-1000 and am currently using 2 Rockford T10001BD's but want to switch to a better amp before finals and have read many great things about Sundown Audio. What do you expect this amp will be putting out at say 12.8 volts (the P.O.S. charging system on my Mazda is a nightmare) and realistically this is what my charing system sits at, and yes I have an Ohio Generator 180amp alt. 3 Kinetik HC2400's and a Missing Link module installed but the factory PCM is junk. I really would like to do a 150 but I have an uphill battle what with 16 Rockford p1 10's (the buy 1 get 1 subs) and a SEALED wall, I'm at 149 and I think this might push me over. Thank you for your assistance, Tom
