  2. O.k. Got Linux fully installed, configured, optimized. Got video and audio capability on the monitor and TV. Got windows 7 ultimate installed in virtualbox, but have to do some slight tweaking. Now what did I accomplish?1) Faster internet. Linux seems to take advantage of things that windows can't.2) More hard drive space on my main drive.3) A cleaner 2TB drive that I use for storage.4) A built in webserver that hardly takes up any resources even though it's running mysql, apache, php, a...

What distro did you go with?

  3. Sound output to tv through HDMI is now fixed.I had pulseaudio installed but the pa volume control was not. Once I installed that, I was able to selected where I wanted the audio to go to. Works like a charm and very easy to use.Now back up to just about everything I do in windows, except for sketchup... Will find an alternative though.

  4. If this gets any easier, I'll have a fully functional Linux install with windows 7 ultimate running in virtualbox. I'll also have 1 of my drives (2TB) cleaned up and organized into sections (applications, books, movies, tv, and so on). This is making live with computers easy as hell. You windoze lovers really don't know what you're missing. :)I'm loving it

  5. A little late, but getting my copy of Windows 8.1 preview. So sometime tonight I might be switching over to it, just to see if there are any changes that I actually like. I have GIGs of files to move first though.

  6. This is just a feeler to see if any interest. I am not 100% sure if I want to yet.I have a SoundStream XXX-4000d amplifier. Works great, looks decent. $350. Prefer picked up but will ship if necessary. Any person interested, please PM me.

  7. Yea..... Computer fanbus system, for 5 vans, to blow over the amplifiers. Turn down the fans to lower the noise when demoing. Turn them full speed when in the lanes. I have never seen anybody actually do something like that and it has been around for computers for years. Works great.

  8. As it stand right now, and this is only due to me knowing the capabilities and longevity of the equipment, this is what I am planning for the rebuild. Things may change, as I am still researching. 9. Back online. Moved cablemodem and router. Router is up near the ceiling. This also allowed me to clean up my desk a little (YAY!). She has full bars for wireless in the back of the house. Hopefully that will solve the problem. The speed seemed to increase a little on my desktop also.If this does work like I am hoping, I will clean up the wiring to make it "look" professional. Right now it looks like crap, but it's working.I wonder what else I can do.... hmmm.

  10. Only thing I am really concerned about is the wireless connections. My wireless includes 1 desktop, 3 laptops, 3 tablets, and 2 cellphones. Wired includes 1 desktop. God where did I go wrong? :) (and I hate turning off the DHCP)Step 1Set up your first router according to the manufacturer’s instructions for a single router connection. Assign its IP address as 192.168.1.1 if it is not already assigned.Step 2Turn off the automatic IP address designation called the Dynamic Host Configurat...

  11. God this house is smelling wonderful. Slow cooker is finally starting to get things done. Chuck roast, corn, cream of mushroom, worcestershire sauce, A little bit of spices. gonna be good.

  12. Well, guess roast will be for tomorrow. It's taking far too long to cook. So, hmmmm....what to cook.

  13. I want to design a subwoofer, start my own business selling them, and call the business, "Ain't SKEERED!"

  14. This place is 0.8 miles away fro where I live now. I hope to get the job as I could practically walk to work.

  15. You know, It's pretty bad when the ORIGINAL black Panthers are AGAINST Obama and the Obama Administration.

  16. The blue LEDs on the driver door mirror of the van has gone out. Now the an looks lopsided at night, but I have a little remedy. I am going to move the alarm status indicators to 2 LEDs of thealarm to the 2 outer LEDs in the moonvisor. This will make them white instead of blue, but will still get the point across. Then when I am able to find all my blue LEDs, I will rewire the door mirrors with new ones and change things back. There goes my scanner idea, oh well.

  17. Well, the Vibe Black Air 6x9s are in. Didn't have to do much modification to make them fit like factory. They sound pretty good, for having a factory stereo hooked to them. the driver side door speaker went out, so now the front stage is in need of replacement.I am thinking about taking the KD-AVX1 out of the van and installing it in the Malibu, but that will be the very last thing since she does have a stereo and it'd leave me totally without one.I do still have a working subwoofer and a s...

  18. Just closed the vent to the kitchen, since both the kitchen and living room vents are right next to each other (whoever thought of that should be hit with a raw fish). I also moved the desk fan closer to the vents. This was 10 minutes ago and it already feels like it's dropped 5 degrees in here. Much better.

  19. Remember a couple years ago when I won 2 pairs of Vibe black Air 6x9s? Well, I have made up my mind to install one pair in the Malibu. The rear speakers are pretty much shot and being that I already have some speakers to replace them with, I am going to do it. I have to find my tools to remove the upper part of the back seat and it should be very easy from there since everything is clipped in.Weird thing, the factory speakers are 6x9, but, the hole is like 9" wide on one side and 3" wide o...

You don't need rear speakers if you have a sub.

  22. Weird crap happening tonight. Had the van parked in the side yard. Brandy and I were sitting under the carport tonight and I heard, what sounded like, the back door of the van slamming shut. I checked everything out, doesn't look messed with. I made sure the back door was completely shut. I moved the van back to the front yard.Just a few minutes ago I heard the same noise. I ran out there and my back door was not closed all the way. A truck took off down the road (it was a couple houses away...

  23. Hamburgers are a flop. Only got 3 out of 1lb of ground beef and they are small. No way to fill up 3 people.
