thanks man. i went to a fabric store and bought a 1" foam cussion sheet. really soft material, the kind you press and your impression stays for a sec.. traced and cutout a chevy bowtie glued it on and wrapped the leather over it. im all wired up and ready for this woofer cant wait... ive read some things about a shortage in steel and possible extended wait hopefully this is not the case. anyone heard any updates with this?

28hz effective. low for the BL but we'll see how she likes it.. im aiming for as flat as i can get her as low as she will go while keeping output as high as i can. like dancing on a f*cking tight rope but ill hit her sweet spot lol

this is the enclosure i built.. threw in a blown rl-p for sh*ts n giggles.

Whats up guys this is my first post on this forum. I recently ordered a 15" BL D2 with the hypercool option. My goal with this woofer is to get it to sound as good and as low as it possibly can. I have always been a SQ low end monster guy so this is the first woofer ive bought that was more geared to SPL. although through research its musicality has been well noted as well as its ability to drop low in the proper enclosure. Previous woofers ive owned tested and run into the ground; 13.5 W7 sealed/ported on a old school Zapco Studio 500 (1000rms @ 4ohms - 0.07 distortion). woofer was wired @ 3ohms... AWESOME WOOFER. 2005 15" RE XXX (xbl^2) sealed/ported on both Hifonics Brutus b2200d and Zapco Studio 500. AWESOME WOOFER. before RE sold its soul. (2) 15" ED OV's i think they were IDK they didnt last long on the brutus. both sealed. (2) 15" Rl-P's ported on (2) Zapco Studio 500's. IMO one of the most WELL ROUNDED subs you can buy. AWESOME WOOFER. also ran one ported on an old school arc audio 1500dr. The amp i will be using on this woofer will be my robert zeff designed arc audio 1500dr. its an early 2000 model that is EXTREMELY underrated - 1000@4ohm/0.008 THD. 1000@2ohm/0.07THD. I will wire down to 4ohms. the first enclosure will be 4cf @ 28hz. i am using flared tube ports so i will be able to cutdown and fine tune. i wanted to start low and work my way up to see how low these things go. i may or may not build another enclosure with a higher volume depending on how well it likes 4 cubes. this is the first FI product i will have owned and am very excited to break it in when it arrives. i will keep this updated with pics as the arrive. thanks guys!

how many generations are thier and is the old stuff better? still use tc9 motor? how much are they new?

I can fit a single 15"xxx ported but it wouldnt be doing it any justice, and since i will be powering sub(s) with 1800rms it eliminates a single 1k subwoofer. maybe that orion is my best bet.....

while i'm not sure how great a snailshell enclosure is, and it would have to be great, one 12 xxx isn't going to beat a pair of 12 rl-ps, sealed or otherwise, unless the snailshell is just that great of a box. i've owned and ran the 12 xxx and the 12 rl-p head to head. adn the rl-p sounds just as good, gets lower on sealed boxes then the xxx and will run with the xxx on the mic. i do think the xxx is the louder of the two (though one pereson listening said they were equal, no mic used ), and will handle more power, but the rl-p is the better all around driver IMO...and i've ran them ported and sealed. that being said.... i think 1.8ft^3 is on the small side, i'd try for at least 2ft^3 w/polyfill. but i'd second denim's option of running a pair of 12's...ported. if ur getting 1.8ft^3 sealed for a pair of 15's, u'll get real close to that for a pair of 12's ported.... and 12" rl-ps love 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz vented boxes... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I cant fit 2 12" vented, being they are 2 cubes each not including port volume and woofer displacement. My box dimensions cannot exceed 4cubes ( 16h/17d/33w ). I can fit a 15" H2 ported as they take a smaller box to match thier motor strength, a couple of 15"sealed, and that xxx snailshell. i also consdered 2 10 ported and that might be another option i need to consider.....

1 12"xxx snailshell > 2 12" Rl-P sealed. 1.8 cubes AFTER ALL displacment, im HOPEING the polyfill will make things better but am not sure... what do you think?

alright, i am currently putting together a system in my 99' Mits galant. I am planning on hooking up 2 15" rl-ps hookeed up to a hifonics bx2200d (1800-1900rms). They will be in a sealed enclosure recieving around 1.7 cubes each. They are reccomended up to 2.5 i belive and was wondering what kind of difference i should expect by giving them less air. Of course polyfil will be used to compensate this. I have plenty room in my trunk its just that the opening is so damn awkward i cant fit anymore then this. I was originally oging to get a 15"XXX in a snailshell but could not fit the box, then i was going to get a 12"xxx in a snailshell but said screw ported 2 15" sealed would be nicer. but im cutting it short on these also. tell me what you guys think.
