I can't speak for everyone but, Its not his fault but I just hate how you cant do anything on you tube without some lil high school shit talking about how Steve meads system can do this or that....as for this site...I think the admin here does not like them because the SMD site supports or has supported bad business dealings, and does the guy really have to make a vid 7 times a day?

HAHAHAHAH lol LMFAO haaaaa hhhuuuummmm.... Steve Mead....lil you tube Nazi

WELL I just so happen to be able to tell you....I have (had) a BL fully loaded on 2K daily of CLEAN power that part is very important. I just blew that BL last week and it poped at about 2.3K for about 4-5 mins non stop...Mechanically the thing is still perfect, the coil gave out on it (to no fault of its own) Box. 3.5 cubes 65in sq of port tuned to 35htz So bottom line 2K daily only if you know what you are doing. If you don't have an o scope and cant tell where clipping starts to occur on your amp then be safe and dont exceed 1.5 - 1.7 K on a fully loaded BL Edit: I just noticed you only have the cooling option so if I were you I would not go over 1.4K

Its all up to you at the end of the day but I always thought a ford escape would be a good car for audio. lots of parts out their for them and they are small, so that means less deadener, wire, air you have to move, etc... and lots of space if you wanted to run 2 15s or a big 10 cube box

all looks good as for the fuse you will have to check with the manufacture

I knew this would be the place to get ahold of you guys..thx for the quick response. Guess im going to contact PSI and see what they can do or just get something to take the abuse of my volume knob

Yep Yep well that is the whole idea of this endeavor....I need a bigger sub(s) BUT 2 BLs about 600 and if I could just build these bad boys up for less then I see that as a no brainer....

Dumb question about strapping
Spencerk replied to shakes's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If it's a d1, he can wire to 2 ohms to the pair, so each see's 1 ohm? First you have to check of your amps can be strapped if they can you will want to know what is the lowest impedance the amp can go to....EX: 1 ohm per amp SO if you have 2 amps and each can handle 1 ohm your final load will need to be 2 ohms, each amp seeing 1ohm. Now as for wiring you will connect the ( - ) of both amps together and the take the ( + ) from one amp to your speaker and the ( + ) from the other amp to the remaining lead -
Looking Good...I too have a Taurus and I know for a fact you can get a 6 cube box in the trunk with no issues. I have a BL on 2.8 K and you should be very happy with your new set up

Paralleling two alts...Do I need a equilizing conection?
Spencerk posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
OK I have made the decision to go with a custom dual alt set up in the Taurus...yada yada ya mount it, longer, belt, etc.. done. BUT I got to thinking about a few things I learned in school and I was wondering if anybody else on here with a dual alt set up has run a equalization connection between the two to prevent the alt that has the stronger field excitation from taking all the load and turning the other weaker one into a motor? And how do you know that both are in phase as not to double voltage when they are 180 degrees out of phase, 28 volts will fry my car. anybody with knowledge of electron physics that could help would be GREATLY appreciated -

WAIT BUT THERES MORE!!! so last night I was looking at dual alt kits and they all come with some sort off a relay. What is this for?? from what I have read about them you cant just hook them up in parallel but nothing states why you cant. Read the Middle picture second one from the bottom. Spencerk replied to Spencerk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
HOLY $HIT I googled that truck wow thats like a few thousand amps of juice!!!! I know that TONZ of people have done this so I know its possible but I want to make sure I do everything by the book. I will be in contact with mech man to verify, I just was wondering if anyone here knew anything about this. thank you for all of the imput gentleman -
Paralleling two alts...Do I need a equilizing conection?
Spencerk replied to Spencerk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well yes they will be turning the same speed but when i put them in. I would have to some how make sure both pullys are in the same position and if the belt were to slip then they would be off or out of phase. I think.... -

No would not give you a -1 your imput is appreciated...I was reading up in my book for one of my old magnetic / electron theory classed and I came across an article in their about this, so I poked round the net and came accross this ( Generator synchronization (John De Armond) ) and it was exactly what the book said. -

Paralleling two alts...Do I need a equilizing conection?
Spencerk replied to Spencerk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well actually an alternator produces an alternating current or AC hence the name for the machine and the name for the sign wave formation of the voltage...the DC the is produced by way of a tri rectifier and diodes that in the most simple terms (much more to it of course) chops off the bottom half of the sign wave and gives you BAM!! DC voltage -
Synthetic Oils & Changing Intervals
Spencerk replied to Penguin4x4's topic in Automotive and Performance
Yeah I have heard the same thing about other cars...Supposedly the clam that 3000 miles is when you should change the oil is only to benefit the oil and service industry's. My father is the CFO of the company I work for and he has be able to see many things in his career including the R/D rooms of ALL of the big three and a few smaller Italian companies. Supposedly they (for limits tests) have run motors at 4k RPM for thousands of hours non stop, tore the motor down and have seen minimal wear to cam lobes, mains, bearings, rings, lining of the sleeves, etc. I personally change my oil in my ford every 7500 miles and shes got 150,xxx on her and she runs like a top, when I adjusted the timing chain the cams had minimal discoloring due to carmalization and NO wear at all. I totally believe that you could go 10k on a single oil change. -

Speed, discovery, science, history.... those are all i watch if I cant learn from it I wont waist my time

never heard of them but they look cheap.....if your looking for a way to light your car on fire I can think of 100 ways to do it for under 5 bucks, save ya some cash. If you are worried about the price look around for a old rockford, kicker, sundown, etc.

What is a Jumper Wire???????
Spencerk replied to Kyleebbert's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You could also just run another wire in parallel with the remote wire and put that on ea switch so you can turn it on and off when you want to, and your amp wont have to stay on all the time -
what subs, box, size ect???
-
if you are going for output then 4 12s will have more surface area than 2 15s (not by much) so in that aspect it has the potential to be louder, BUT!! with more drivers in the chain you will have an over all less system efficiency. Both set ups will need about the same size box when all said and done. In your situation the 2 15s will be louder bc they will be seeing twice the power imput as your proposed 4 12s set up

how much for one of these???
