ive had it in boxes in the trunk, ported sealed and bandpass, i like the way it sounds ib best. the boxes sounded like boxes in the trunk, the ib just fills the cabin with bass and retains the ability to get real low and loud, like a good sub at home.its not your average street beater sound its way more refined.

it would only take half an hour to take the polyfill out, and while it was out try a few pieces of 2x4 in the box to reduce volume a bit? also the way your subs fire onto the glass in your rear door/hatch im guessing there is only a few inches between sub and glass when closed? this will effect the overall sound of the subs if you can somehow rotate the box so the subs have more space in front of them i believe that would make the overall sound less punchy.

ive had my 12 in for a couple weeks now i.b. today just for the hell of it i wailed on her, (you know after everything has been okfor a while wetry and destroy things), well she took it 600wrms p.g xenon, and deliverd this barbaric bass that i couldnt believe i say go i.bwith you 15 you will be very happy.

your good ears wont last long @ that kind of volume???
-
i found that when i put my rl-p 12 in a small sealed box (about 1 cubic foot before disp) it sounded super dry and smooth and still went low low low, maybe you can try putting something in your box to take away some of the volume? exatly how is your box installed in your car?any pics?

if you go to www.decware.com check their 'speaker' page and look for a desighn called the 'housewrecker' its desighned for 15s and is disturbingly good.after a recent kitchen re-model there is no longer room for my houswrecker it sits in my garage waiting for a new home, if your anywhere near north califonia you could use/try/buy it? i onlyhave some old school jbls in there and the bass is rediculous, with some rl-p 15s im sure we could do some serious structual damage or you could just build your own? -
my understanding is that if the box is desighned and built correctly the port will controll cone movement to the point where it hardly moves?
-
subs dont move a lot in ported enclosures.

congratulations, the job sounds good ..and fair, they could just pay minimum wage, but they offer a different kind of deal, when they are busy you will make bank.when there not- you work on your own car, and get paid sixfitty an hour to do it

so i installed my rl-p i.b. again over the weekend, but this time i sealed the rear of the car completely, expanding foam, mdf, rammat etc.(fold down seats) well the sound is amazing and doesnt deteriorate as volume goes up (like it used to before i sealed her up proper) ..my question is this, i experienced a little boominess with my rl-p in a bigger sealed box (1.8 maybe 1.9 before disp)but there is absolutely no boom with the i.b.arrangement? i wonder if the trunk was the reason for the resonance / boom rather than the sub itself? because a sub in a box in a trunk is actually a sub in a box..in another box? i.b. has to be the only way to go if a car has a trunk?.....thoughts??

that wood be sum thick carpet!

careful what you ask for!

Yeah, a sealed box in a trunk is like 4th order bandpass (boomy) and a ported box in a trunk is like a really weird 6th order bandpass. and IB is like a sealed box in a house. good work any pics <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i can take a pic or 2 , but i warn you...it aint pretty!
-
my understanding is that the distance should be the same 'at least' as the width of the pole vent, i havent looked at the rear of my rl-p in months but i seem to remember the pole vent being closer to 2,or even 2.5 inches in diamiter?

i bet your dog knows more about these things than me

my rl-p 12 sounds amazing in 'about' 1 cube.have no fear ice, its gonna sound real nice ,get plenty low and be loud.even in a small box!
-
i woulda liked to hear the output from the sub ? i like sine waves
-
sure these subs can be wire to 1 ohm.....but you need more than 1.
