i know were no supposed to, but 1.these proto 8s i have right now are simply amazing. 2. the rl-p 12 gets noticeably lower than the 8s. the orion 2500d that will arrive shortly is probably dangerous for either the 12 or the pair of 8s, but if i ran all 3 could it work, the 8s giveing me that awesome 'snappy' flavor, and the 12 that 'evil' low it does so well? all shareing 2500wrms? all sealed? i have read we cant mix sub sizes but what the hell, ive been told alot of things in my life and i never listened to it then? im gonna try it, how do i configure (wire) (2) 6 ohm subs and (1) dual 4 ohm sub to get the best from an orion 2500D? series parallel/paraleel...i cant even spell it, help a guy out please.
-
but have you actually heard pooh?
-
dual 4 paralel = 2 0hms = 1700wrms dual 2 paralel = 1 ohm = 2500 wrms on an orion 2500d, howdya get 1200? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "GAIN" Have fun with the orion...but ya may wanna watch where you set the gain as well <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 'headroom' f.t.w.

sometimes when im lying in bed thinking subs, or coverd in mdf dust, or sweating upside down trying to get a baffle or a screw to be just right, cutting big holes in my car, i wonder if im really a little crazy? i have a wife a home 2 dogs good health, money in the bank and hope.yet i seem to be constsantly obsessed with bass? when i finish an install and it sounds like this, i know why................. rli 8 protos rock pics soon
-
listend to some 'agony scene' today ...loud, these are the fastest most accurate subs i have ever heard. 'blathering' doubble bass drums = walk in the park for these babies?
-
LSQ > spl. no doubt!

I still have 4 NIB, maybe I should unload them, with babe on the way no time for silly fun boxes to blow up stuff <{POST_SNAPBACK}> dont sell em, doubble clamshelled ported sub box in the pushchair 4tw
-
you know when you first do an install you kind of 'baby' it until your sure you can beat it? well i beat these here 8s a bit today........................very impressive! pics soon.............its raining?

i have been running an rlp 12 for about 5 months i.b off a xenon 600.i like everything about it gets sick low, accurate, loud everything, but i got these here s.s. 8s loking at me? i couldnt get em up front so i thought id try em in the rear shelf. did some work on the shelf today and had to go for a drive to get some stuff, the weird thing is that now i have 2 holes in the rear shelf (about 6 inch diamiter each) kindof porting the i.b rl-p 12 into the car, it sounds.....better? no longer sealed i.b but kindof mostly sealed with 2 holes in the shelf? im confused i thought this would have destroyed sq and power handling? but it doesnt seem to have done that? anyway ill finish fitting the 8s tomorrow and see whats up with them?? bass is weird!

i have no idea what im doing, but im enjoying it and learning.

someone on another forum sujjested playing test tones and see whats up, i did, i have a disk that starts @ 10hz and goes up in single hz increments, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 at 16 the ouput was good.yes 16hz i could hear it clearly, now it sounded like a medium sized bird trapped in my trunk trying to get out, but it was at the same volume as 20 and 25 30 and 35 hz? so in my quest for completely messing something up that is already good, i plugged one of the holes and installed a 12 inch length of 4 inch diamiter pipe, havent been for a drive yet?
-
i think my trunk works out about 24 cubic?
-
i did a lot of driving today, with the holes, played the system hard almost all day, it sounds really good??????????????? im confused , im going to buy some plastic pipe and start trying diffrent lengts to see what happens?
-
if you can figure a way to get one of these monster 8s 'sealed' between the drivers seat and the pedals, let me know.....i cant do it! i tried hard but i was defeated by the dark side.
-
i guess when it comes to cars there is no science involved, by the time we calculate for cabin gain , seats, how many people are in the car, how fast were driving, stuff in the trunk, air con on or off. its just a matter of useing and trusting our ears? build a box / desighn that 'seems' correct and tweak from there.

i drilled some 2 inch holes thru the back of the seat metal and then mounted the sub to a baffle, sealed her up pretty good but its a 1989 car so i bet even the trunk rubber is questionable?
