man thats a lot of box building? i guess im lucky to not be as picky, or maybe i eliminated a lot of work by knowing what i wanted. good sound quality with plenty of volume, no ports for me, sealed or i.b only, yeilds great results with my rl-p. i like mdf and subs as much as the next bass head, but building several different boxes so close in specks would lose its appeal VERY quickly for me.
-
i dont know what the difference 'specks' is between the official ss8 and the protos i got, but my protos have been in my ride for a few days now powerd by an orion 2500d, very very nice subs.the harder you push em, the happier they are. any ts on the protos mike?
-
got power to it today, absolutely beautiful bass, lots of it, 'tight as a gnats chuff'.2500d @ 3 ohms is about 1300 wrms right? well each sub can take 350 wrms so that plenty headroom. will play with settings on amp x over etc over the next few days but first impressions are unbelieveable, sounds like the bass is commeing off the hood pics soon

will be a few days till i get powr to her

no audiobahn, there are many great amps out here for cheap, do some reading and ask some questions and get a great amp to go with your new great sub....audiobahn = dissapointment.

gives me great hope for my 8 ss protos with an orion 2500d, install will be completed by tuesday.....excited

some 8s mike sold me on 'special' ?

i dont know your current subs but if your thinking about going from 2 x 12s to 2 x 12s it seems worthless to me. ported boxes get louder.i see you have 2 options. 1.put your current subs in a ported box = more output less quality. 2. get a single soundsplinter 15 and give it all you can give it, my guess is that the ss 15 in a sealed box could handle 1500 watts (maybe more), sound absolutely amazing and be much louder than your current subs. but im the least educated round here so ask many others before you spend yo money

very tidy, howzitsoundin?

update. This sub is an extreme piece of chit. I had it running for all of 1 day and the voice coil is making huge amounts of noise. Its already blown. I hate audiobahn yu were by audiobahn. lol............... i defy you to burn up that rl-p
-
ugly ? yes, ghetto, yes sound good yes, all came out today to go in the new ride?....................yes. :dancingsmilie: :musik05:

ok then they're phuking excellent get em in

its tough to be fair? the 12 was fireing thru the seat foam (which im sure was effecting performance (aperiodic)??) and the 8s were just hanging from the shelf. i cant compare and be fair unless the drivers were being used in exactly the same situation, we all know what the rl-p 12 can do so thats easy, after useing the 12 for over a year and switching to the 8s for a week or so id say the 2 of these 8s are a serious threat for 1 x 12. rl-p 12 inch (sq inch) 500wrms capable vrs, 2 x 8 (sq inch?) 700wrms capable. you do the math?
-
but i dont want particles falling into the hole so i probably wont!
-
yea i live by the ocean (california) EVERYTHING oxidizes / rusts here in days. that 12 has been in the trunk almost a year.maybe ill give it a rub before it gets its new home?
-
xpanding foam and mdf 4tw!
-
female doggin? i typed, 'the b!tc#IN'
-
perhaps its time for soundsplinter to release their first amp? may i sujjest calling it 'the female dogin' 5000 wrms @ 4 ohms
-
being the least educated here might allow me to think outside the box.would it be possible to build a device that could be connected in paralell with the rl-s to show an amp a smaller load (1 ohm) and supply more power? like an additional motor with no cone attached o a big coil of some sort or something? just a thought.
