    rl-p

AURAL .........rrrrrrllllllllll...........i get it,built my box yesterday, its gonna be the FIRST time ive used a new sub and the glue on the box will already be dry!.........where is that fed ex truck?????????

It doesn't become muddier or sloppier; what happens is the low frequency output is increased (better low frequency extension) and upper bass output is decreased, so with a larger box you are hearing more TRUE bass (which is slow and "muddy" by nature), rather than enhanced and exaggerated midbass. so can i put my rl-p 12 in a bigger than 1.25^ sealed box with no negative consequences? given that i want a subwoofer only no burps or competeing @ 100hz?,it will be x'd over at bout 80hz

Technically a smaller box would be "sloppier". The larger you go, the more overdamped it becomes (lower Qtc), which tightens up transient response and such. Go too large and you can get what's called "critically overdamped"....which most people wouldn't enjoy the sound of as it would be "dry" and "lifeless".... But...one thing I've noticed is that the Rl-p drivers don't model well in most programs/calculations (atleast the 12's)....you may be better off sticking with SS's recommended range. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> damn i like reding your posts squeak, seems there is a 12 winging its way to me?

    tc ss 12 difference?

while looking for a ink to theuberwooferi came across tc ,they do aseveral 12s? doesnt the technolagy for the ss 12 comes from tc? so my question is,what the difference between the ss 12 and a tc 12? in a nutshell?

a q of .707 is the flatest response and the lowest F3, using all the calculators i found said this would be around 3.25ft per driver for the 12?

    rl-p w6?

after talking to a guy on an audio web site i am about ready to buy a rl-p 12,just wanted some basic comparisons between it and a w6? obviously the ss is half the price! anyone familiar with both drivers and able to say what the main differences are?

    12 or 15 ?

just wonderin if a 15 rl-p would be better (than the 12) or too much in a 4 door car with a trunk? (mazda 626) definately gonna git an rl-p asap but a 12 or a 15? LSQ definately my goal with the empasis on sq.same 600 wrms.

    12 or 15 ?

so..how is ur budget? the difference in cost between the 12 and 15 is almost nothing. space? i suppose i need to keeP some desired output? AS MUCH LSQ AS I CAN GET UP TO SLIGHTLY OVER SENSIBLE LIMIT? those will help answer ur question..and again, the 12 is enough for a mid sized car. IS IT FAIR TO SAY (LIKE MOST OTHER WOOFERS) THAT THE 15 IS HARDER TO MOVE AND THEREFORE LIKELY TO BE LESS ACCURATE?

    DD 9515e or 2-12" RL-p's...

WHATS A SOLO X? oh ,a kicker? that good eh? 12 incher on e bay for $500 or the 18 for 700? im gonna try the rl-p for tu-fitty.

    DD 9515e or 2-12" RL-p's...

  18. it'll reach that low in 1.25ft^3... WOW!!!!!! i didn't think he was out of new drivers already.... I HOPE THATS TRUE

funny you should mention system of a downs new cd, i got it last night cant stop playing the second track !! killer drums/guitar /melody. personally i always aim for sq (sealed) if i want more volume i get a bigger amp!
  20. hhhmmmmmmmm? but if i can get down to about 23 -22-21-20hz?? i still have a while to decide, mikes not back till the 14th and it doesnt look like hes got any drivers ready anyway unless im wrong in which case i can pay for it and he can ship it on monday!
  21. thanks, x17.5 it will be then probably, and roughtly what would the difference in performance be if i made it 14x14x23? keeping it sealed? im guessing it would handle less power and maybe play a little lower/better transients? but i would appreciate any other insights.
  22. sealed....1.25ft^3 does that account for driver displacement? i know its not supposed to be square, standing waves /reflection etc.but if i were to use a 14x 14 baffle for the 12 inch rp-l what would the other dimensions be it it was a regular squareish box? im no mathmatician, dont own box calk ont realy understans ts paramiters...........love low bass. the reason is i have been useng a death box...www.decware.com.... search for death box.its a great desighn ( as are all the sub desighns there i have built almos all of them.and i want to put my rl-p in another death box,i carry alot of tools n chit in my trunk and the driver is more than safe from damage in this desighn. so.......14x14 x ? x? is perfect for an rl-p 12 with 600 phoenic gold xennon watts? sq first!

    hot cone

no way am i stupid enough to do that. after a real good beating the other day i noticed that i could barely touch the cone...i was just making sure this was the norm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah its natural, my Eclipse get cooking <{POST_SNAPBACK}> is fire a risk? when running a sub hard in a sealed enclosure is it possible to ignite anything?
