Help me pick my active setup!

LOL! Buy the amp that has the power, features you need, and fits your budget. You wont hear any difference.
  2. that is nothing the AQ20.1 was going for 1600 back in the day.. i think they discontinued them though lol! 20krms at 1ohm ... o my! I thought that particular AQ amp was rated at 20k peak, and a lil under 10kwrms. ^ pretty sure that right too.
  3. Audio Savings has them for $1399. Mash Here

    Sir-Lancelot's Yukon XL - UPDATE 18" ZCONS / 4 GP3k Page 27

Ha Ha, trust me the tweeter will get MUCH louder. I have the level way down on them as that is not what I like. Next time your in Florence, hit me up and we can try out some different levels to see if you like it. Pro audio is not for everyone and really I didn't like most set ups that I listened to either, but I love the B&C drivers. With a little EQ they can really get down on midbass and are still loud and clear up in the vocals. Which is nice when you want to chill out and listen to something at a modest volume level. IE: wife and kids in the car. lol Good thing is when I want to turn the xcons up, you can still hear voice. Hard to do that with typical car audio drivers. Edit to add that the tweeter is IMO the weakest link in my system, but it works ok and it is what it is.................for now. Muhahahaha

    Bought a new house...

Nice score bro. Congratulations. I agree there are plenty of deals out there right now and interest rates are crazy! Great time to buy, bad time to sell. Edit to add.......it looks too cold in that picture. : )

    Sir-Lancelot's Yukon XL - UPDATE 18" ZCONS / 4 GP3k Page 27

Wow, thanks a lot man. I really appreciate that! People get a bad experience from most pro audio set up with big mids and super tweeters because the person didn't spend any time dialing it in. It's not plug and play, you have to tweak it. It's easy to get really loud, but it's even easier to sound like complete shit. I know mine sounded like that at first too. lol With some time in the seat, you can smooth it out and can sound really good. Might not look as cool as the doors with 12 drivers in them, but I would rather sound good than have a cool door and I think it keeps up just fine like it is. As for the Xcons, I have always told Mark if more people could hear them they would love them. They are really great subs and can make a really nice ground pounder set up. You are not going to burp and fart your way to a trophy with them, but that is not the design. They are for people who enjoy their music and still want to get loud as hell. Thanks again for the kind words Bro. Makes me feel good that the time and effort put into this build was worth it. Let me know if I can help you out any with your build.

    strange sound on my N2

I think the hype of watching Fi you tube vids has finally caught up with the masses. Seeing people put up HUGE numbers throwing shit loads of power on subs has everyone thinking it's soooooooo easy to do. Buy a big expensive amp and a Fi sub and you are magically are the loudest in town. Nope. That takes a lot more effort, knowledge, and testing than just lots money to waste to make that happen. So..... they crank on the amp gain because they are disappointed they didn't break the doors off their car like they saw on that video. Why? Because that's the only thing they have the knowledge of to make things louder. Buyers expectations are just too high. OP this is not directed at you at all. Just saying. Play around with your settings and dial it in. I am sure you will get it where you like it after some time playing around with it.

    tejcurrent

My review for tejcurrent's dual / triple alt bracket and HO alt. First I need to say that Troy is a great guy and was excellent to do business with. His communication was excellent and kept me updated on any delays and always answered my emails promptly. The time frame to get the product could have been faster, but I knew going into this that he had a job and family. I was okay with all that. Some things are out of his control at the moment, but he is learning how to deal with it. I wish him the best going forward. He is a super guy and went above and beyond helping me get an excellent bracket and alt installed in to my truck. I feel very safe in saying that Troy will stand behind his products and would never over inflate the values to mislead the buyer. This is just a hobby and a passion for him not his means of income so from what I can can tell there are no short cuts and everything is top quality. Hopefully the pictures will show what I am trying to say. The alternator. When comparing the internals of the stock, Iraggi 260a Amputator, and Tejcurrent ..... Troys had noticeably beefier internals. I cant even remember what all he showed me, so ask him about stators, windings, posts, and all that shit. I just know the product is nice, well put together, priced extremely fair, and gave me the results I was looking for. I will be adding a third alt after I catch up from spending WAY too much money for the wife and kids for Christmas and I will be getting it from tejcurrent. The bracket is so SWEET! It is a dual or triple bracket and I am running it with only two right now, but a third will be added soon. I have seen some other so called dual brackets and they look like toys compared to this. This one is VERY well made, nice and thick, quality parts used and straight forward to install. After installation there are no issues. No belt slipping, no squeal, no noise, and it is rock solid mounted up. Excellent product right here! Troys alt is on the right, Irragi on the left.

    Sundown Neo-Pro 8 and 10 (Midrange)

I do not see any similarities to the B&C neo at all. Edit to add: looks are not what matters. I would like to see some specs.

Help me pick my active setup!

I would start out with a nice 2way active. Really easy to have a nice set up sound really bad. That Bravox 98GMC linked would be nice. You could play with them active if you wanted, but have the passive xover to fall back on if needed. Good luck.

I swear, I would have played along and made him work for it right up until I got to the cash register. The sales girl was pretty and had nice tits, but I was like nah we don't need this shit I got rcas at home. Well then, in that case I would have asked to see her tits. Chicks love that. lol

    What to major in?

Hard to say Bro. With the way things are right now, people are having a rough time no matter what they majored in. Business's around here are letting experience staff go because they can pay someone younger to do the job and pay them a third of what were. My friends wife was let go last month, she was in pharma sales making nice coin - one of the tops in the company. They let her go and hired someone right out of school with 1/3 of the base. Sounds good to someone just starting out, but when you get married and have kids, no so much. Good Luck to you no matter what decision you make Bro. PS: Sam Houston brings back good memories. I played baseball there a LOOOOONG time ago. lol
