Samsung LED 55" PS3 photo :)
Sir-Lancelot replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
That is so sexy. I want one, give yours to me !!! Just kidding, unless you were going to do it. -
When a manufacturer gives you an optimal volume, why not use that? Getting low is not a problem for the Xcons. I have mine in a little over 3cf and they pound. Pounded the kerf port of my box in to a cracked submission in fact. I am going to build a new box using SSA optimum ported specs of 4cf, but first I am going to glue a new board over the front to cover the port and try it sealed for a few days. Nothing to lose and maybe I will like it better sealed. Great woofers, you will love them.

Audioque AQ 2200D vs Hifonics BXi2608D vs Audiopipe 3000D
Sir-Lancelot replied to kryptonitewhite's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My GP3000D is far from over rated and with regard to reliability, so far so good. Easily the best $400.00 I have spent on an amp! -

Anyone heard of Power bastards?
Sir-Lancelot replied to Julian's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Same rule applies to the above comments too. Just because something cost more does not make it better. The law of business prohibits getting substantially more for less, but marketing hype and a good sales pitch can over inflate the value just the same. I almost never buy the most expensive, but I never ever never buy the cheapest. I would be curious to hear a review of these. I am always down for a good deal. This one, well it seems too good of a deal to be true. -
That's Sexy !!! Great looking box Shizzzon.

I smoke when I drink, but I use snuff every day. I actually used snuff to quit smoking about 10 years ago, but you see how that turned out. I like to smoke when I am drinking with friends. As for weed, I wish. Damn you random drug testing!!

I have actualy been thinking about doing this with mine. ^ What would be some the pro's vs. con's in your opinion? Well, they are well suited for both sealed and ported, but the vast majority of Xcons are in ported boxes that I know of. The pro's and con's are inline with advantages and disadvantages of going sealed over ported (in theory >> higher potential power handling, flatter response, greater excursion, lower output, less efficient etc.) With the Xcon being a low distortion design, and having high excursion capabilities, it can really excel in sealed. Thats what is stopping me, the lower output. Flat and low is a good thing, Maybe I give it a go since MDF would be the only cost to find out and if I like them sealed I could always add 2 more. Sorry to crap your thread acex. Build looks nice bro. all good bro. It good to see people intersted in xcons sealed. i think im the only one with sealed and it nice to see if other people witll try it out too. Its hard to exsplain how amazing these xcons sound in a sealed box off a sundown 3000 its just unreal and words connot explain how they sounds. Even tho ported is louder to the ear i cant really seem to find a difference i did a 142 in the meter with 2 xcons sealed and that was it an air leak in the box around the subs and not full crank. more people should try out an xcon in a sealed box. Well as luck (bad) would have it, my box is crapping out on me. I noticed a slapping sound recently and looked at it over the weekend and the MDF is splitting right on the bend of the kerf of the port. Looks like I have a project for next weekend. Going to seal up the 15's and see if I like em.

those are good, but he didn't want to spend more than 125.... Drink 1 less 20oz coke/pepsi/beer for 40 days and put that $1.25/day in a piggy bank then.

What Are Your Other Hobbies??? (besides Car Audio)
Sir-Lancelot replied to smullen's topic in Off Topic
probably my biggest hobby is watch collecting. This has caused many a good fight between the wife and I. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission, I always say. I like golf, but I suck at it. Pretty much all sports, but at 38 I am just a spectator now. Other than that work and the kids keep me busy. -

Problems with my ground/wire
Sir-Lancelot posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey guys. Today I noticed a strange noise coming from the back of my Yukon. It sounded like digital fart through the woofers. So I decided to shut it down and go check things out. The first thing I noticed was that my ground wire was basically melting at the ground point. The sleeve for the ring terminal was melted along with about an inch of wire has turned the casing form clear gray to black.I have 4ga currently for the power run, amps, and ground, but plan to upgrade soon as the rest of my parts show up. There could be more wrong, but I am at work and this is the first thing I noticed. What has caused this? Was I just pulling too much current for 4ga or is it a bad ground? My voltage has been pretty good so I was stalling until it cooled down to upgrade. I have at the house some new 0/1ga welding wire that I plan to install as soon as all the fuses and such come in form KnuKoncepts, but I would like to hear some thoughts to make sure I do something different this time. I have two new amps that I want to install and it will be drawing a lot more current, so the last thing I want to do is screw up something with my new set up. Opinions welcome and thanks. I can take a pic later, if that helps. -
Problems with my ground/wire
Sir-Lancelot replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
LOL! Waiting on fuse holders and such from Knu should be here soon. Yea I know that. Like I said voltage was pretty damn good (maybe too good), so I was procrastinating in hope of cooler weather. Main thing is I am surprised it's at the ground. That's why I asked the question.
