    RF POWER T30001BD

Get two 1500w amps and run one to each coil at 1 ohm or as suggested above buy an amp that makes the power at 2ohm. If your friend is sending low voltage to his AQ it wont be making rated power for long. May fire up and play a note, but it wont be putting out rated watts if it keeps getting damaged by low voltage, then one day it will die with a poof. Why risk it? If you are only burping go for it, but daily it will not last and that is why it's not covered by warranty.

Opinions on sealed box for 15" XCONS

I'd be terrified to be your speakers....anyway on a serious note. I have my Icon sealed and i like it very much. All i listen to is rock so it has a very nice tight sound. Transient response is one of the best i've seen. For that listening environment i couldn't ask for more. I'm sure it's the same with the Xcon LOL, I am a woofer molester. I listen to mainly rock/metal also, and sealing them up really made them shine. I do however listen to some R&B-Hip Hop on occasion and they do not disappoint.

Opinions on sealed box for 15" XCONS

Okay guys, built a box over the weekend. 5.95cf after drivers and plenty of bracing/double baffle front. I did take some pics, but have not uploaded them. I doubt anyone would care to see them since it's unfinished and ugly at the moment. lol Opinion: These things move a ton of air sealed up and I am SHOCKED at how loud they can get. The bass is solid as a rock. Very tight and punchy and has more authority than they did ported. It is night and day on some songs. Very pleased. Now to be fair, they were louder ported (little over 6cf tuned to 34), but not by much. Maybe on a mic, but only slightly to the ear. Unless you are seeking every last DB for competition purposes, I would suggest everyone at least try them out sealed first. These are not the same old chitty sealed subs of yesterday. Anyone limited by space to build a proper ported enclosure would love this woofer sealed up. I love it sealed up and I drive a Yukon XL. Once I can find time to install my new front stage (Dynaudio 362) I will hopefully be able to lower the crossover and let the 8" mid bass take over. The thought of having actual bass in my front doors makes me horny. I hope I get a nice warm weekend with no rain very soon. I did manage to bottom them out while banging on them very hard, so I need to make sure I have no leaks and make sure I am not clipping my signal to them. Any quick tips to test for air leaks? I was skeptical as hell about sealing them, but overall I am very pleased and would do it all over again tomorrow. Does the future hold an 8cf ported box tuned a little lower?? Maybe, but I am not in a hurry to make that change right now. They sound too good.
  4. Affordable means something different from one person to the next. A price range would be more effective, IMO.

dont drill me for this question please..

Actually this is a better question than the can I run my amp at .5 or .25 one. Having more power is a good thing and you will not be abusing your amps. Either way you are going to need to upgrade your electrical so that is a non issue. Get the 4500 and the xcons. You will love those subs and turning down your gains will make your amp happy.

    Polyfill in a ported box

Not to speak for him, but I think M5 means to find out you will have to try it and see. No way of guessing the results.

    1/0 crimping tools

That would work. Does not have to be anything expensive. A larger one would hold more fuel, but anything would work. Check out Harbor Freight if you have one. I crimp one side at a time with my wire cutters to get a closer fit the heat then lug and let the solder run into it to fill it up.

Opinions on sealed box for 15" XCONS

That was exactly what I was thinking. I have always been under the impression that smaller sealed boxes produced a tighter quicker bass. My goal is to tighten up the bass as well as give more speed and punch to the kick drum in metal. I want to feel more bass if that makes sense. I recently bought a Dynaudio 362 set and with the 8" mid bass in my front doors, I hope I am on the right track to my goal. Thanks for your help Denim. Purchased LOTS of items today. Building 3cf each and will go from there. Hope to take some pics along the way to share and say thanks to everyone here who has helped me along the way.

Thats the way I was leaning Denim. Subs back firing off the glass. How does box size change the overall sound in sealed enclosure? How about power handling? I had thought about poly fill and it's benefits, but obviously I don't need it to help with internal volume. Would it be of benefit to add it just for the sake of standing waves inside the enclosure? In this case should I go smaller to account for the polyfill?

    Sound Deadener Choices

Ok so I get spiffs at my job when I sell certain products and I got some AMex gift card to spend. The bad thing is I can only use them at certain places. As far as anything car audio I can use these cards at Best Buy, Crutchfield, and from Amazon.cm. Looking around Amazon, I have found a few deadener products and would like to hear thoughts on these. Here is what I can find so please let me know if you have ever used this and would recommend any of it. Q-MAT 13" X 28" sheets 62.5 Square Feet $189.58 R-Blox RBLOX-100 Extreme 100' $218.88 Stinger RKX36B Expert Bulk Pack 9 - 18 x 32 sheets $109.12 Dynamat Xtreme 9 - 18 x 32 sheets $130.98 CASCADE VB-1X(1G) SPRAYABLE DAMPING COMPOUND 1 GAL $69.90 Even though it is funny money, I still want to get the best bang for the buck. It is a hell of a job putting this stuff on and I hope some on here can let me know if any of these would be a good value or a complete waste of money. I have SS Damplifier Pro on both doors, but I need some more for a few areas where I ran out. I like the SS product , but would prefer to save my cash if I can. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sound Deadener Choices

Thanks for your help guys. I appreciate your time helping me. I have purchased some new drivers for my front stage that I am really excited about. I want to go out of my way to do the very best install I can do for them. Hopefully the end result will give me what I have been searching for. Once I get all my parts in I hope to get some pictures of what I have now vs. new and will be seeking all advice and opinions on accomplishing my goals. My new front stage should be waiting at my doorstep today! And I am very excited about the thought of having some real bass in the front of my vehicle. I will start a build log, or rebuild log I should say for some help to make this one right the first time. Thanks again.

Actually yea they do have more cascade. I didn't see it the first time, but Amazon offers the following from them Cascade VB-2HDSP Shop-pak 41.7 sq. ft. $228.00 Cascade VB-2HD Damping Sheet 13.9 sq. ft. $79.95 Cascade V-MAXMP Aluminum Damping Sheets 2.8 sq. ft. $32.50 Parts Express is the vendor. I am glad I found this since I wanted to try Cascade before I went with the Damplifier Pro. Second choice was the Dynamat. I really was doubting the others in my first post, but does not hurt to ask for opinions. M5, I take it you have used the Cascade products. I have read where people swear by them and wont use anything else. I would love to try some of Don's product, but it just makes sense to spend the funny money. I do want to get some of the Ensolite (sp) or a barrier to place between my doors and the door panel, so maybe I will hit him upo for his opinion with that. The VB-2HDSP is a vinyl vibration damping sheet, not a peel and stick. That looks interesting. They also have the door and trunk kits, but nothing like a bulk pack

I hear you. Out of those I posted up first, the Dynamat was the only one that I was pretty sure would be a good one. I have doubts about the others. They are proud of it though. Ha Ha yea I could do that.

  23. @ bigrank - Dang, good catch on the SSA store pricing. Pays to shop around. @crazykid - True words. Keep that voltage up and amps will love you long time.

Does anyone here build custom boxes for members?

Thats the problem with reading what someone types. Saying the same thing in different tones can mean entirely different things, but reading what someone types leave it to their imagination sometimes. I didn't think it was out of line, but the OP sure did. Cheers to you for clarifying.
  25. Fosgate is a quality product and will do over rated. $600 is a good price. I have never had one single problem with Fosgate amps and have owned PLENTY in my life.
