Sir-Lancelot's Build Log - Updated July 17th - Page 8
Sir-Lancelot replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Build Logs
So...... With this warm weather I got a little more done today. I added a bead of silicone to the outside edge between my door pods and the door panel. Still not happy with it, but it looks 100% better without the gap. I will probably try another bead to build it up or I may break out the body filler and shape it. My goal is to have them perfectly smooth to the door, but I made the pods a little too fat. No problem since the paint matches my door panel exactly, it's nothing I cant fix. They sound badass. Since I am without subs for a little while longer the 8's are doing a fine job. I noticed today that my rear view and side mirrors were shaking. Mid bass FTFW! I have a few sheets of Dynamat Extreme to spare so I added a sheet to the hood for the hell of it. Thats pretty much it as far as deadening except for the headliner behind the rear seats. Once my order of dynaliner shows up I will put the rest of the deadener and the liner up there. It made a big difference when I did the headliner from the 3rd row forward. Killing the buzz from the headliner has made a huge difference. Really tightened up the low end getting rid of all that noise. The big project starts this week when I get the 18's. -
Best order comment I have seen in a while

I am loving the new boxes. I wish I could give one a test drive. Damn nice thumpper. -
OUCH! No, your amp has failed. Sorry bro. I am sure you can work something out with Sundown.

You may have to experiment, but I think it looks good. Hopefully some truck owners will chime in. Maybe you could contact one of the builders on here and pick their brain. I am sure they would be happy to tell you what has worked best for them. Have you considered using aero ports? Might be easier. BTW, you build looks very nice. Keep the pics coming.

We have been patient with you two long enough. Stop dick'n around and put up the pics and vids.

Got a good bit done today and after a quick listen, it did make a nice difference. My door panels are not buzzing and the mid bass tightened up a good bit more. Once my Ensolite shows up I think I am going to be set. I am really enjoying the hell out of the Dynaudio set. They are sounding better and better. Bought 3 cans of this And used it to spray both front door panels. Also sprayed the inside of both mid bass pods to add a little mass to them Added some expanding foam to some areas on the door panel as well as the inside of the door pods Added some silicone to any areas that were not sealed, probably not needed, but I had some and used it anyway. Added some acoustic foam directly behind the mid bass. Removed the cassette deck (lol) and cut a piece of plexi to install my digital voltage meter. Installed my Iragqi 260 amp alternator and a new belt. Damn belts are high. $48. Fuck! On deck..... I am going to repaint the door pods bacause I ran a bead of silicone around them to make them air tight from th eback of the mid bass. Plus I think it will clean up the install a little bit and make them look a little more factory. I will take some pics tomorrow when I am done. I have a pair 18" XCONS that will be here Tuesday. I have not decided if I am going to build my box or let my Friend do it. He owns a cabinet shop and his business is very slow. He is practically begging me to do it and I may let him to help him out as long as his price is not crazy. I am sure he would do the same for me. The kids are with grandparents so tonight me and the wife are going to a little bar to eat a steak and drink a few. Hopefully I will get her buzzed enough to get lucky tonight. LOL -

I guess you didnt read anything he said, he would like to keep it under 1000 watts. Does that $1200 budget apply to subs, amp, box, wiring, electrical upgrades or just subs and amps? AND? With $1200 he could buy a battery which he would probably need with 1,000w. Whats your point?

Click ! Little bit more than 1000w, but you will want a bigger battery with 1000w anyway.

Refund time bro. Everyone is rich for a month or two. Except me that is.

The full works would be a projector lens with a cutoff. Without it you are beaming light everywhere and are pissing people off. Plus you are not getting full benifit of the HID's. 6000K would be the highest kelvin you should ever go with, unless you just want it for the color. If that's the case you will probably get pulled when you least want to get pulled. Not worth it. I bought some and yes they are brighter, but they are a menace to other drivers so I took them out. If you are going to use them, do like I am going to do and retrofit projectors. Yes it costs more, but if it works better and does not impair other drivers then spend the extra if it's something you really want. It will be worth it.

Seal up some XCONS. They get loud as hell sealed. I had them sealed and ported and they sounded the best sealed but got louder ported, but not by much.

Interested in multi-inserts, massive battery bars and fuse blocks?

I saw an AQ amp for sale that had something similar. Looked nice. Not sure it's needed, but different strokes and all... -
looks nice.
