WHO WOULD WIN? SSA XCON 18" VS FI BTL 18" VS digital designs D
Sir-Lancelot replied to mikemihai's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Well it sounds like you really know what you want and have done your research on all these. I would just buy 2 of whatever costs the most, put them in the smallest box you can build and strap 2 sundown 4500d's on them. -

should i keep these or go with something different

The icons are great subs and you would not be disappointed with that choice. I would suggest you to measure your mounting depth up front. If you can get a nice 6.5" component set up there even if you used a MDF ring adapter you would have more potential for better sound. (ie midbass) Also, I would skip the rears all together and put that money into deadening and sealing your front doors. In the end you will be glad you did and you wont even miss the rears if you do it right up front. What car do you have? Are you going to amp your front components? -
congrats~ keep tweaking and kick his ass next time

picking an amp
Sir-Lancelot replied to icy_chris's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
troof Really? Reliability has been excellent with my Maxxsonics amps so thats not an issue and I think they sound pretty damn good, but if say a JL or a ARC amp will make my system sound so much better i may need to rethink my set up. So how much better would my system sound if I were to run different amps? I mean it will sound better if I spend a bunch more right? Opinions? No one can hold your hand here, time to separate from mamas tit Edit, not worth it and too easy. I am quite pleased with what i have, comment was tongue in cheek douche bag. -
4 channel amp question
Sir-Lancelot replied to shadowm891's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
yes you can bridge 2 channels mono to your subs and have 2 running stereo to your comps. -
Best way to learn how to install your own car audio

Look at the build logs on various audio sights. Read and ask questions. People love to talk about themselves and their toys. There is nothing hard about it, just takes time. -

Happy Birthday.

Dont even know if deadener can help that. Thats pretty nasty. You could add some MDF and closed cell foam to the rear deck, that may help you there, but that trunk needs more metal or something. lol Good luck man.

Is that 3-4 cf after sub and port displacement or before?
-
Sealed box? You could try it as is and if you need to tweak it glue some mdf inside to take up volume. Now if its ported you would change tuning by doing this but prolly not much.

amp problems?
Sir-Lancelot replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Amps don't change sound your settingS do. Amps just make power. -

Sir-Lancelot replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Are you running it bridged? Can you take a pic of the settings. I have two of these. 4125 and 480. I am happy to help if I can. -

Of course it would do well sealed.

With those dimensions, you would have room for a 15" ported in an optimum box. If you have that space, get the 15.
-
Ported boxes can sound damn good and are also louder. They will have a higher peak around tuning so maybe not the best for SQ, but a good compromise for a loud and clear set up. A good high excursion subwoofer in a sealed box can move some air too. I personally like sealed boxes but the bass head in me wont let go of the higher volume a ported box allows. You could always try both. Sealed boxes are easy to build. I would start there and if you need more volume, then build a ported one later.

RSD65cs - Phoenix Gold 6.5 would fit your budget and most seem to like them.
