i know everyone favors ported boxes but what will be the best choice four sealed 15's or four ported 12's? im not competing just for daily pounding?
-
Each vehicle will be different. The transfer function can have a negative effect on one firing direction and positive on another. General consensus is fire back. WHo's the girl in your avatar? oh ok well im talking about a 1989 caprice. idk who she is i found that pic on another site

i know this is old but i stop with audio for a while but is there any cons of having subs facing towards the trunk lid? i saw quite a few mustangs with the subs firing upwards

it is possible.... but you need to ask a more direct question.... you posted in FI topics..... so are you asking if you can fit 4 FI 15s in a truck.. . and what series fi subs are you asking about 65"W x 17"H x 35"D now that i really think anout it i dont think four 15's would fit properly so im going with with three 15's. im talking about the BTL's how much power should i run to them daily? i was thinking about running three of them off a 40.1 i saw multiple times that they was benched at 7000+ with a good electrical or just try to find three zx2500's. any other suggestions? for power i spend up to $2600 on amp(s) this not my car here but its the exact same year and model...

i saw in a thread on another forum that if you have a subwoofers in a convertible you will lose 85% of your sound with the top down..how true is that? and will it help if the subs is facing towards the cabin

-
i was talking to a few guys on different fourms and they told go with three ported 15's they will have more output than four sealed 15's
-
a couple guys at the audio shop told me that today

is it true that 15's only catch the lows

im want a LOUD daily driver. im not competing so im not worried about numbers just something loud and dependable that sound good that can take abuse. i have 13.5 cubes to work with in a 1989 caprice...i have two zx2500's and im looking for a 40.1 if i can find one
-
Eh, not quite Since accuracy doesn't seem like it's too high on your priority list, and you aren't concerned about being placed in specific classes, I would get as much cone area as you can afford and can fit properly in your space. What specific drivers doesn't matter all that much, just get something that can take the amount of power you're planning on sending them... i dont want an all out spl system..so 15's are not accurate?

I have 12 cuft to work with in the back of an 75 caprice what would you do sub wise?? and yes im looking for two dirrerent setups for two different cars
-
this what another guy told me... I used to build at least 1 of those cars a week (on average) for about 3 years. I've done everything from a single 10 to 4 15's to 8 12's in those. I know exactly what is gonna happen if you try fitting as much cone area as possible. You want DISPLACEMENT, not cone area. Often more cone area till have more displacement, but not always. You need breathing room and a properly designed and built box will always reign over more cone area. If you want loud and big, you need at least a double layer box, no exceptions. That's gonna eat up volume too. I'm still thinking a pair of good 12's in a good box. There's nothing I love more than somebody showing off their big system and getting taken to school by somebody with 1/4 of the equipment.

this is a look of the trunk in the caprice thats just like mine...might have to speed it up a bit but here goes..

so the 18's is out the question??
-
my goal is to be a ground pounder i have a $3000 budget for subs and amps...i dont want a complete spl that sound like rock in a glass jar but i also dont want a sq setup neither the amp im looking at right now is the IA 40.1 but if theres anything else let me know
-
oh ok...does the 18 have the"punch you in the chest" feeling like the 15 or is it just deeper?? because i was told that the 18 skip beats more than 15's
-
two 18's will be better than four 12's??
