If it's the same with or without, then sealing with resin will just add moisture resistance.
-
Resin only seals , adds no strength. Glassing a flat piece of mdf is pointless. You would gain so much more structural rigidity by simpling bracing it properly.
-
Yep , excellent way along with changing the bias with every successive layer.

See, that's all you had to say. I wouldn't tought MR. DLS's truck as being low budget though

Pardon me and may contradictory. I guess we need to define our terms before I answer what an "SQ" sub is. Don't get defensive my man, I'm not attacking you. I just have weird ways of getting my point across My definition would be a subwoofer that will play the frequency band I am looking to reproduce, in the alignment and space I have. A whole lot of subwoofers fall into that category.

The W7 is a good sub but it is overrated and way overpriced. And NO it is not an SQ sub. Then what is it? It cant be considered an SPL sub..since soo many people are breaking SPL records with W7's right? Don't get me wrong I wouldn't consider it to be an all out SQ sub but thats what it mainly is. A SQ sub that can get loud but not THAT loud. Thats why ppl always make threads about "I'm looking at buying a W7" and ppl say all of the time, why not look at a Fi Q or an SI Mag...When Q's and Mag's are SQ subs that get pretty loud. A W7 is an LSQ subwoofer. JL has spent too much time and money trying to re-invent the wheel. They built a much better product when they were a just a subwoofer company. An old school W6 will wipe the floor with a W7. The old W6 cannot compete with the W7 in any term. That's just a fact and I have no idea how you've come to your conclusion. Only the end-user can determine whether a sub can be labeled as a "SQ" driver or not. The list is long and mighty and some are even very surprising. In fact, there was and IASCA competitor who won several times using Pyle woofers of a newer (read PA) vintage, so you cannot rule anything out. We come again full circle to the old adage, it'sall in the install. exactly , people don't consider L5's or L7's as "SQ" subs. Yet they have been installed (and used ) in world champion sq installs.

Wait a second here, your contradicting what the OP said were "sq" subs. So which is it? And you didn't answer the part about what makes them "sq" subs?
-
What's an "sq" sub? What makes a sub an "sq" sub? Becasue it doesn't handle a bazillion watts?

So you built Eddie Dejusus's truck ? ISQC Eddie DeJesus Keith Doney Natan Budiono John Marsh Anthony Davis Wayne Watkins Carlos Machuca Rob Baker Wayne McKenzie Jan Bennett Rick Nichols Larry Stevens Steven Head Lee Byerly Anthony Kern Rick Sellers

I have to leave the disclaimer of "sometimes" in for the big three. In my personal vehicle it didn't do squat. Yet others I have done it for it has helped. -
Please help!!!!

Technically they are correct if you are running just the bd1000. The big three sometimes will help steady your voltage. But overkill is good sometimes -

You left out a crucial part to this story. How long is your main power wire ? -
There wasn't really any car audio specific subwoofer that could handle 1000w back then. 1000w amps were over $2-$3 A watt Crankenstein's weren't rated for anything close to what they could handle. I jokingly bought my first pair to see how quick they would die. The fact that they didn't is what enticed me to buy more. The new lines look very similar to a few other companies basket designs. I would be hard pressed to pay anywhere near the msrp they have listed for the new lines now though.
-
I know nothing of the new lines. The old stuff was just a butt hair above flea market status as it was sold in places like K mart , hills , holdrens yada yada. The amps were way over rated, but the subs were under rated in most cases. I had several of the 12's. Decided to kill one in the shop one day. Plugged it into the wall socket . It tripped a 30 amp breaker so many times I gave up trying to kill it. My first spl comp setup conisted of a pair of crankenstein 12's. Mid 40's for a pair of $40 subs with a couple hundred watts was pretty good, and they even sounded pretty good.

Dap landau roof adhesive? Best stuff I have used but if you got it for $20 a gallon that's a freaking ridiculous deal.

That's what I used the couple times I have done blow throughs. It's called accordian boot

The flocking gives a similar material like is inside of most center consoles and stuff. It's pretty easy to work with, BUT NOT VERY DURABLE AT ALL.

I edited the title for you , I bet Steve Head, Mark Eldridge, and a few others would have VERY valid arguments against your original title.

I'll give you one guess
