    Welcome to the IHoP

Can't , I have been sworn to secracy. You guys will see once everything is completed, probably along with build pictures if you ask Dave nicely. I bet this is the most in depth install dave has ever had to this point. Been a learning experience so far for myself. Results from some of our testing has proven the exact opposite of pretty much everybodys thoughts and thoroughly proven the fact that indeed every car is different. I also learned having someone cut and resin the mat for you while you do the laminating is the greatest thing since sliced bread lol Decided to leave the JVC in and run coaxials off the head unit, huh... Yeah something like that

    Iasca SQ rules questions

IASCA has rules for everything my man. I think there is probably even a rule about farting in your car before judging. And the stipulations of what you can eat the night, or morning before the comp so your fart will be legal

    Welcome to the IHoP

Really depends on the brand and style. There are some gas powered sniper rifles ( co2, and propane ) that can reach speeds upwards of 900 fps firing .25-.4 gram 6 mm pellets. That chit hurts like a sob . You can buy a $100 spring powered rifle shooting 350 fps with .25 gram pellets , drop a $10 spring, and a $5 air seal upgrade in it and have it firing 450-500 fps with the same ammo in a matter of minutes. AEG's ( automatic electric guns ) can fire anywhere from 250-300 fps out of the box. $50 worth of upgrades later and a couple of mine are shooting in the 450-475 fps range. I started messing around with them as an indoor shooting weapon for the winter.

    Welcome to the IHoP

As in colt python ? I gots an older one that I bought at a gun show missing grips several years ago. The thing has been sitting in a case in one of my gun safes since. One of these days I'll get around to throwing some grips on it lol

    Welcome to the IHoP

Boo to nonviolence. SHEEEIIIITTTT non violent my fat arse. I'll bring one of my non violent weapons and shoot you with it. I will bet you a grand it will draw blood at 50 feet with impact on bare skin. Let alone the fact by the time the sting from the first pellet hits, there are 15-20 more a second coming at you:)

    2002 BMW 325i

Interesting , if it were me I would have probably cut the entire piece of metal out of there and put a gasket around the cut edge. But I know how you feel, customer wants, customer gets. I used to have to do some of the dumbest crap known to man. Tis why I'm kind of selective about who I do work for now a days. I don't have to be burger king anymore, you get it my way or you don't get it at all

    Welcome to the IHoP

But then there is the issue of what last longer and which breaks down more over time etc etc... Not a factor. The time it would take for the joints to actually break down would only matter in fine home audio. No one keeps a woofer box long enough to matter. The places where it would matter is heirloom style home audio speakers, and the people building them know what the hell they are doing anyways. Not even a factor in a harsher car enviroment? Highly doubt it. Moisture is the enemy of all particle boards. Coat any composite particle boards with some sort of water barrier and they will outlast natural wood by lifetimes. Those guys were using their noggins when they came up with composites , wasn't just to have something to do with their scrap. All though that was a huge part of it Most adhesives once cured or dried however are impervious to moisture. Keep your enclosures out of the sun, and puddles of water in your car. And you should have next to no deterioraton what so ever:)

    My Intro

Welcome my fellow old school rf fanatic. I collect vintage rf amps myself. I got one or two stashed around

Why do they sound like butt?

Not a normal box the drivers are mounted 180 from each other, which by nature means some wavelengths are in and some are out of phase and damn right inline with each other. I'd start out of phase and then try in phase but either way depending on the box the response will change. Depending upon how much distance is between the drivers themselves, it very well could be acting as an isobaric enclosure. Which we all know needs to have the drivers wired out of phase for the push pull effect. But the subs aren't causing the noise he has. Time to check the wiring

Sean is correct , can't get there actively with only 4 channels of power and 6 channels of sound. Boiled down to the the basics. Running an active setup basically means you have adjustable control over each individual driver ( channel), and a seperate channel to power each individual driver. By adjustable control I mean you can adjust crossover point and slope , time delay if you have it ( you have it ), and ideally even eq'ing individual drivers. You can run what you have from the single 4 channel amplifier, but you can't do it actively. So you can't use all of the benefits your head unit affords you like the time alignment and crossover functions most of the time. Active would give you the best control over the system, which with a lot of tuning can mean better overall sound. To install what you have passively. You can two channels of the amp for the components, and two channels for the coaxials. you would also need to use the passive crossover's with your components, and probably the highpass crossover of the amp on the coaxxials................ Honestly though, I would ditch the coaxials all together. The morels are a ridiculously nice set of components. 100w per driver is gonna be plenty of headroom, and with proper installation of your components will make you forget about those coaxials you didn't install really quickly

    damn this cold

Why do they sound like butt?

It may increase the output, both subs will still play at the same time. One will be moving in while the other moves out.

Is this what you are talking about: http://www.caraudiohelp.com/newsletter/wir...s_correctly.htm ahem...cough cough SEAN! cough cough yep that's what he's talking about , with your motor to motor enclosure , wiring them out of phase may help.

HOLY chit . My next door neighbor just came over and asked me how long you have to cook jello before it sets. WTF ???? She said she had been boiling it for about 30 minutes and it still wasn't hard

No need to apologize , everybody has to learn some how my man. If I'm not mistaken your head unit has a 3 way crossover built into it ( tweet, mid, and sub ) it would just be a matter of connecting rca's to your amp ( two channels for tweet , two channels for the mids ) and adjusting crossovers. Running active , you won't need the passive crossovers that come with your components. An outboard crossover ( like the ppi you referenced ) usually requires a 12v constant, a 12v switched turn on lead, and a ground.
