Yes mine is playing now . I love it. I made a topic with pics (box for a 12" btl) in the build log section.

Sa-10 Sub is making slapping/rattling noise at all volumes!!&#

do you have the bad noise on all songs or just a particular one ? I had this kind of problem lately, and I finally realized I was playing a very bad recorded or compressed song !

10 cubic feet, 12" port, 35Hz tune, cheapest subs for it

Cut the box and make 2 with it. Is it possible ? You will sell the2 boxes easier than a big one. Take a look at the Classified section, there are lots of good used equipments to buy. good luck

    From: So....How about some

Don't need to make them black ! The sun is hard evryday in the Caribbeans !!! some white ones would rock !

does this sound correct to you?

The box will be bigger than you think, unless you use an external port. Why don't you want a slot port ? Take a look at the free designs on the Tech sections on the Fi Forum, or the SSA ones.

    My introduction to SSA

  8. love my 12" BTL more and more !!! What a fantastic sub !

I need help figuring out what to do....

I'd rather have a 15" sub ported in an optimal enclosure than an 18" sub in a sealed box. The 15" sub will be easier to sell, and may be louder ported ! Don't forget you need room to put your amps and batt, and all !!! And room for everything to run cool. If it's too tight you can have heat problems. Electronics don't like too much heat.

    help on sub choice!!!!!

Maybe the big3 will help you with your dimming lights problem. Your stock alternator must be weak. I run 1800 watts rms in my little Toyota Auris 2.0 l (diesel engine) with no problem, and the big 3 is not finished yet. I only did the grounds. Make a box for that btl, and that's it. The RE seems to be a good sub though ! And you see, Aaron(from SSA) wants it !!!

what does it take to get 150dB @ 25Hz?

Poor little Geo !!! I remember some pics or vids. Impressive !!!

what does it take to get 150dB @ 25Hz?

22 Hz tune ? Should go up with the tuning on your next build if you want to hit those numbers. It will be easier to reach 150 @ 50 hz than 30 !!! What is your goal exactly ?

    Batteries

Yes, any part of the chassis. IMO I don't even know where is my stock ground point !
  14. Notorious97200

    Batteries

I drive a Toyota and the alternator is hidden under lots of...things! I can't reach it easily, so I just did batt to groung, and engine block to ground( I will try engine block to batt(-) later). I can't make alt(+) to batt (+). It's just the big 2 for me !!! but it has improved my voltage seriously. My next step is an AGM battery : hoping to get a Stinger spv 2150 or something. What do you think about it ? Better than an Optima yellow or blue ?

    strange sound on my N2

Hi guys, I installed my 12" BTL N2 2 days ago. The box is ported to 32 Hz, 2.1 ft3. I run a Sundown saz 1500 at 1 ohm. Last night I took time to test this setup and I was surprised to hear a strange sound at the highest volume. I kept the exact same settings than with my previous setup (1 ssa xcon 15" on the same amp). On a certain note on a song from Mike Jones a weird sound is coming from the sub, and not in the port. On low bass notes there is no problem, but on a higher note the sub reacts badly : how can I describe it ? Like a sheet of paper moving ! It's scarry. I need to turn down the gain on the amplifier. I checked the inside of the box, nothing was loosed, all strong. I never hgeared this noise from any sub I had. I know there is a problem in the sub. I will tell you later today which song exactly. What can I do more to trouble check that ?

I've got a few Stinger SP2150s for sale -- if you are interested email me. It will cost me an arm and a legg to ship a big battery to Martinique (FWI). I got a quote from XS and it was extremely expensive.

    strange sound on my N2

Ok guys, After some testings, I know (or I think I know) what happened. The bad noise I was hearing is coming from the song itself ! I played all I kind of songs, I even played all the test tones from 25 to 60 Hz I downloaded on the ssa technical menu. No problem at all, even with the gain high, oreven too high !!! But when I play this particular Mike Jones song (n°2 on the album with "houston oilers") it makes very bad noises. I'm sure this particular recording is bad, or the mp3 compression was badly done. Even at lower volume it's audible on that song. I tried to set the gain on the amp with the test tones, but I could not find a point where the sub was starting to play bad. It seems to take it all. My next try will be with a good DMM. For now, I keep the gain quite low. But my car has never been shaked like that. I could never imagine a BTL would play soooooooo looooooow !!! Thanks a lot Fi, and sorry for this topic, but I needed to know what to do ! BTW, I turnt off the head unit (Pioneer p88rs II) internal amplifier. Do you think it's a good thing to do ? Would it be better to turn it on, so the amplifier would receive a more powerful signal ? I'd like to try that.

what does it take to get 150dB @ 25Hz?

It's OK, I really am an ass, better to jus sound like one I was vague to be clear, thought my point was simple : cheapest way to get 150dB @ 25Hz At least tell us what car, what electrical upgrades you're planning...? Box, wall ? It's not magic !!! Give more info so people can try to help you. Good luck.

    2003 Dodge Durango Build

Just curious : did you ever test the (2) Icons setup with the (2) MB Quart amp ? If so, how did you like it ? I bet those (2) Xcons slams hard AND sounds good. I'd love to try a dual sub setup like this one, but I don't have enough room in my cargo area ! Looks super nice !!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Notorious97200

    Box design...opinions?

You can / must trust Bromo : he designs fantastic boxes. The last one he designed for me is...fantastic !!! The sub is a monster (a 12" fi btl), but the box plays a very big part in the sound. I feel like my sub loves this box !!!

    Fi Audio Subwoofer Comparisons

You're starting big for your first sound system ! If you're tight on budget, be sure to get a good custom box and do the 2 ssd's 12" or one BL. Don't focus on amplifier : you can find cheap one new or used. A 1000-1500 watts rms amp is enough to power those subs. It will not be too hard on the car electrical. Forget about the Q; you seem to want a lot of output, the Q is loud, but not the loudest. good luck !
