Fix your ICON man. It shouldn't be hard, and you won't see a big difference in output by changing unless you plan on more power. I must disagree. I had an Icon 15" on a saz 1000 (1000watts rms) that I changed for an Xcon 15"in the same box : big change, no regret at all. and I loved the Icon ! You will love the Xcon even more. Don't need to upgrade anything. You can do it, but it's not a must.

You will love them !!! what size and what amplifier do you want ?

Will you help me design a SQ Front Stage/Custom A-Pillars?
Notorious97200 replied to jonblack's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Interesting topic. I have the same A pillars, and had the same idea of using them for my front stage. But I don't know/can't build anything right, and my installer is not good (yet) at fiberglassing. :-( Good luck. you're in good hands mith M5 ! -
OP : in résumé you should fix your instal or simply run a comp set ? What do you chose ? I'd rather use a comp set and don't worry aymore ! With $300 you can find some good ones.

Hu guys, This is my third box for my sub. It's the loudest one! Now, I feel That I have a really powerful system !!! The design is coming from Bromo. I bought the2 4" ports at Madisound : it was a pleasure to deal with them. Fast (very fast) answers, they shipped my order the next day, and they gave me the choice for the shipper. Loved it ! first box was a L ported box : 3.5 ft3 at 32 hz with sub and port up. It was taking ALL my cargo space and was not really powerful. I can't understand why; it was sooo loud in another smaller car with the same sub. second box was 3 ft3 sealed, firing up or back : I lke it, seems louder than the first one ! More cargo space left, This box NOW : The sub : Working on the bracing : The HUGE ports in : Carpeting in action : DONE : Another look inside : Screwing the ports to the box : Terminals :

A well thought out 15" Mayhem build...
Notorious97200 replied to 95Honda's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I had a speak-on connector on one of my old box : I loved it. It was so easy to take out and put in ! No need to check + or -, you just click it in ! But you're right, it takes some room ! I sold the box to a friend and gave the connector back to my builder !!! This build should be interesting. Tuned in for sure ! -

2" ? Wow ! that's a lot. I don't like MY sub to move so much. Bad sign for me ! -
ascendant havoc bottoming out?
Notorious97200 replied to Bizzy Beats's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Turn the gain down a bit. check your box for any leak. You have that noise on all songs or not ? It could be the records. I had a noise problem on my btl , I thought I had. But it was only on one bad recorded song !!!! It was scarry. Good luck -
Nice equipments you got, and you tested ! But I don't understand your last moves !!! I saw so much subs, I don't know what you got now, and what you went through ! Are you happier with the back seat box ? It leaves less volume, so maybe more bass ?!! Usually I like to see trunk setups firing through the cabin. Keep posting yours pics. Love them all !!! Congrats

How do you like those Neopro speakers ? And of course the gcons ? great improvments over the Fi X ?

95 Honda Accord Build Crossfire XS-V2 18"

Niiiice ! What a huge car. Could fit some subs in the center console ! Waiting for more pics !!

edub : take it easy, man ! Simply follow what M5 is telling you. He knows his sh...! You bought some expensive drivers (the JL) ! I hope you will be happy with them. I bought some Aura midbass driver (using nedymium motor) for a friend's install : they were sooo cheap (like $20 each !!!) on madisound or parts-express (I don't remember). So cheap, I bought 4 speakers instead of 2, and my friend is still very very happy with them. He's looking for a way to use all 4 in his car. But we don't use no RTA, or anything. Only our ears. The results are not so bad for now !!! Good luck

Just buy a better set of comps for the front stage. Forget the rear speakers, that will leave you more money for the front ones. (you will need only a 2 ch amplifier). If you're set on Alpine, try the type R or even X.

Need an alt for a VW Golf
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Mechman High Output Alternators
Yes they deliver to Martinique. Shipping and alt are already & totally paid. It's for a friend of mine, I don't drive a Golf but a Toyota (difficult to have an alt for my car). You can have fantastic deals on shipping in SXM ! I will study that because I have a friend working in an airline company , and they have several flights coming to us everyday from St Martin (GrandCase). That can be a good solution for my next purchase ! I may comme for a little holiday in August in SXm. I'll let you know, so maybe we can meet. -
You really don't need rear speakers. They will never keep up with the bass, and it is very annoying for your rear passengers to have the sound IN their ears !!! They will have a nice sound coming from the front, and a shitty sound coming from the rear speakers. At least get the same set for front & rear. I thought th ID ctx were better than that. They can only be compared to the Focal Access a1 ? It's just the entry level from Focal : sounds nice but they are "light". The only set I'd like to try is the JBL GTI 508 or 608 (not the 660; wayyyy too expensive !). So far I love my Focal 165 KP. Have them for years on several amplifiers ! Good luck !

Get 2 more SA's and another amp like your current one ! 3 is not a good number

4 ssa 12" zcons and 2 crescendo bc5500d box build
Notorious97200 replied to WARFARE INC.'s topic in SSA® Store
Tell him to get 2 15" Zcons and to keep his actual amp (the MMATS). He can be louder than many with a system like that. That will leave him some money left to work seriously on the electrical, and maybe some to work on a good frontstage(he never told us anything about it). OP : have you used deadening products ? You should, and it's not cheap to do it right. Good luck, and tell us what you choose ! -
edub : what is your problem with those subs ? I don't care if they are a copy of this one or this other sub, as long as they perform well and are at a price I can pay ! All the bulders tell you they are different but you're still talking ! I quit. Sorry !

$800 budget for system. Need ideas!
Notorious97200 replied to BigPun1982's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You'd better bridge that amp to a good set of components up front, and run some cheap 6x9's on head unit power, until your friend realize he wasted some money on those 6x9's ! 2 12's Dcon ported for the cone advantage. But I'd love to hear the new Gcon, personnnally. good luck -
What kind of music do you like ? What car, power,...? I had run both in 15" and I loved the L7. It gets loud and low, but I think the L7 gives you less details in the music. For rap it may be ok, but not so good on other kind of songs. I tried several sealed boxes for the L7 : the bigger the better for sure ! It needs room. The Icon is a very different driver, can't compare Icon and L7 easily. TheIcon can be loud, but it plays music, not just boom. Whatever you listen to, it will satisfy you. And the L7 canot be reconed. You will have to get another one if you have a problem with it. Kicker is a good company, get the L7 at an authorised dealer to have a replacement easily. The Icon is totally reconable. And the customer service is top notch. It's up to you. But remember : the box is VERY important. Be sure to have a proper one, whatever driver you get.
