    Xcon's (trunk only) SPL #'s

Great number, but that's a high tuning for daily ! Why did you choose xcons for your build ? (I love those subs!)

    Sander's BMW log

Nice. You have room for a bigger system, in the future !

  5. Those hcca's are huge ! They can be super loud too ! And I know, you Americans, love them. Very good resell value Take a look at the subs you can find in the ssastore : they have nice ones too.
  6. I saw someone talking about Northstar batteries. They seems legit You're goind for a really big system. Is it your first one ?

Help me choose a new 15" sub

Hello guys, I currently run a DD 9515 in a 3.8 ft" box tuned to 35 Hz with a 6.5" round pvc pipe. The port has a little flared on both ends. My amplifier is Incriminator 2.0. I have 2 AGM batteries and the big3 is done. No voltage problems. I am used to xcons, icon, and Fi btl n2. And I loved them all ! The btl n2 was my favorite : more punch than the xcon and still sounded good. I am looking at the SSA Zcon and at the Fi sp4. But I am open to suggestions. I found the DD to be brutal, it can play all the notes I want but it's "dry", not round enough. I don't know how to explain it. It is loud and can get low in this box. What would you suggest ? I would like to keep the same box. I could make another box, but with a slot port I can't go bigger than 3.4 ft3 in my opinion. Thanks for your help.
  9. Now what to do ? DSS Ethos 15 or SSA Zcon 15" ?

Help me choose a new 15" sub

I was reading about those subs : impressive results and reviews. I like the fact they perform well in "small" enclosures, but I worry about the "punch" I can get out of this DSS. I had Xcons15, btl12, and now a DD9515 : I want more output than the xcon15 but I don't want it to sound like a DD9515. I'll send QJ an email.

    my DSS ethos

Makes me want to try one 15" Ethos. I have the box, the system, the cash,...I'm waiting, I need some more readings ! I was set on a Zcon, but...

Help me choose a new 15" sub

Thanks for the sub specs Shogen. The Fs is lower than a lot of subs I had ! I don't know how will this affect the sound, because I'm not looking to play only the lower notes ! I need to look at some reviews, from respectable or experimented users.

    3k, 2-12s ICONs or XCONs?

You can forget the rear doors and focus on a good and solid frontstage. I was afraid to do it first, and now I will not come back : no more rears for me ! A 3 way setup will be hard to tune, and will need more amplifiers. Good luck, and have fun. The xcon is a fantastic sub.

Help me choose a new 15" sub

I think I can go up to 4ft3 net, after dispalcement. Is that too small for a Zcon ? I need to take a look at the DSS Ethos. I think I did not find anything in the ssa store about them. I will take a look in the forum. I had a few 15" subs in 3ft3 boxes, and it was really not pefect, only suitable ! My 12" btl n2 was in a 2.5 ft3 box at 34 Hz, but it was not enough bass, not enough pressure for my taste ! So, I need the 15" sub

Help me choose a new 15" sub

My goal ? Listen to music, with lots of bass if I want. I listen to a lot of reggae and dancehall : I need bass but not only the lows. I may put some Decaf from time to time, So mostly reggae and rap. My LPF is set to 80 Hz from my head unit. I am not a competitor, I've listen to 143-145 db cars,I'd like to be loud like that with that setup ;-)

Help me choose a new 15" sub

I've read some very good things about the DSS Ethos, but I made my mind ! I will stay partial to SSA if I can't make the deal on the btl ! Thanks guys. THX_Elite : I know the Fi bl 12" and I like it a lot. But I'm looking for more. Thanks for your suggestion.
  17. Lost my father quickly, last week. I want to buy a new 15" sub to remember him with my system !

That's sucks, it's never good losing a parent. I lost my dad about 4 years ago to cancer so I know how rough it is first hand.

Help me choose a new 15" sub

I think I am going to try a Zcon. A bit lighter, needs less power (even if it's not a pb for me to run an sp4 with 2000w). I like the ssa C/S ! If a friend of mine want to sell one oh his 4 btl N2 I will jump on the deal. He needs to decide quickly.

    MECA dueling demos format

Even on videos it seems loud ! Sara's system is clear too on my stereo. We have the same kind of comps here, they are very popular. I don't know why, but we are not allowed to run horns ! You win if you have a team screaming for you in the back ! Not very fair

    2 hcca 15.2

Wow ! that is a serious work. The bracing is too nice to hide it in the box OP, you're a lucky guy.
  21. Notorious97200

    Should I buy the bc5500

+1 This sub doesn't need so much power for daily listenings. With 2000 w it shines Amps don't like to play at 0.5 Ohm for long.
  22. Notorious97200

    Worst shipping/customer service ever!

If you're in a hurry for your build, go get some wire locally. I live in another country, and all I can say is that I love to buy from the ssa store. I trust them 100%. This guy must be a young Canadian boy. First time buying online or what ?!!! I thought Canadians were cool guys !!!

ZCON 15 Sound Box Port Suggestions 2 ohm

2400 w : the Zcon will like that It can be a lot for an Xcon, but it would work. You don't have to use all the power you have...if the amp can make all that power ;-) I wonder why you want to use so much 4" ports ? do you have them already, or do you plan to use pvc tubes ? I like round ports, they can be adjust easily. but slot ports can be nice too, if the design is good. good luck.

    mid range ideas

Do you have a sub in this car ? If so, you could forget the rear speakers and buy a good set of component speakers with some deadener for your front doors. This amp will be very good for a set of comps.
  25. Notorious97200

    loud daily setup

He said $1100 for subs. What is the total budget ? Because you will need some good money to run a 5500 w amplifier : several agm batteries, HO alt, lot of big wire,... As said previously, tell us about your previous setups. A 2000 watts amp with a good 15" or 18" sub is a loud setup for me, but not for everybody.
