which speakers can keep up with 2200 watts?
Notorious97200 replied to wayneo99's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You won't find any speakers that can keep up with 2200 watts on bass! Try to find the "best" or the loudest speakers with the power you have for them. And instal them properly, with deadening material, speaker ring,... First, you should go to a shop and listen to some sets. It would be better to listen in some cars like yours! Then you will start to know better what you want and need. Then, again, the "gurus" here will be able to help you easily. -
You already have a good head unit, just take a good set of speakers for front. Your passengers in the back will hear them clearly. Rear speakers would not be a good idea, even in rear doors. You can run active to take advantage of your 4 channels amp, but don't buy a component set with passive filters. For sub, I love the Xcon!!! One 15" on 1500 watts with a good ported box should pleased you!!! If you have money and room, go with 2 Xcons, that would be a killer system!!!

With 2 saz 1000 powering this sub, I don't know what will be the results !!! I will tel you soon : the amps are coming tomorrow

It's a kind of marine material. Maybe it's not as strong as the mdf, I don't know, but his last box was in the same material. It was a 6ft3 sealed box with a 15' Kicker L7 receiving 1200 watts of power daily : it was sounding very good, with lot of lows, and a very big output(not mesured). The advantage with this "wood" is the weight : 1" mdf is too heavy for a small car like his !!!

lol I did it how I could!!!

I will add much better pictures soon. The car is at the garage for paint and for some work. The new amps (2 saz 1000) are coming tomorrow. Everything will be redone in this install, except the deadening part, already done with Secondskin Damplifier (doors and trunk).

Notorious97200 replied to 1sashenka's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Why don't you Take a look at the Icon? You would have a lot of headroom on your amp! I can tell you this sub is Loud And sounds gooood!!! -
There is a very good deal on the sae 1200 : it's a pre-sale, but if you're not in a hurry think about it. You can find informations on this same forum. BTW I love my saz 1000on my Icon, and I am waiting for 2 more to power a 15' Xcon sub.(just waiting on a UPS tracking number now) Good luck : you can't go wrong with these amps!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

X 2 True, try it! Good luck for your active set up. With $500 you can be good!!! But don't buy a component set for that. !uy some tweeters and some mid speakers. Read on here, lots of topics about active setups.

Which would be louder in your opinion?
Notorious97200 replied to mwoehr's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
4 10's would be fun! It could make a beautiful box!!! Louder than a 15 Xcon? I don't know. -
It may be difficult to believe(!) But you would be amazed of the sound quality without rear speakers. Some of my friends tried and they were happy to do it, some.did not like it! The front speakers seems more clear, and the bass sounds better in fact. That is only what I felt when I did so. Maybe you will not like it! Try and tell us !

I saw someone with 2 boxes in his trunk, so he could play with only one box, or with the 2 boxes when he wants to be louder. The boxes were both the same dimensions, with the same number of subs. Maybe you can try that? It's a lot of 12's for a convertible!!! Those will kill his car quickly !!!!!!!!!!!! just my 2cts!

What amp to take for a 15' Xcon @ 2Ohms?
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Sundown Audio
I've just pulled the trigger for 2 saz 1000D and a tee shirt!!! I hope to get them by the end of next week. I am waiting for UPS tracking numbers now. -
Hello, One of my friend wants something to power his Xcon (in a 3.5ft3 net ported box). He wanted a Sundown 3500 D, but there are some really good deals on some 3000's. Do you think a used(from Sundown) or a refurb(from Db-r) 3000 can give the sub all the power it needs ? I think the 3500 is "better", but more expensive too ! How can they be compared ? AT 2 OHMS ONLY !!! BTW what to you think about used or refurbished amplifier ? I live in a Hot island (30° C all year long) so the ampp must be reliable. I would not like to send any amp back to the USA, shipping is about 200$ !!!
