Kole Audio TRAX1-7000D
Notorious97200 replied to bigbumpin555's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
too cheap to be true ! But it's still an amplifier, but don't expect to win spl competitions with it. I can be wrong, but with only one comment it's difficult to be sure. -
got a new sub : a 15" Xcon
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
We love it !!!!!!!!!! The old box gave us wonderful results, but with this one it's even better. going from 3.5 cu ft to 3.7, but still at 32 Hz. More output, and more lowend . We don't know if the changes come from the added volume or from the kerf slot port ! One thing I know : I need a sub like that, my 1000 watts amp must give me good results with it !!! I'm just trying to sell my 15" Icon (that I love too) ! -
Hi, A friend of mine who owns an Xcon15 has just built a new box for its baby monster sub. The old one was 3.5 cu ft at 32 Hz, and the new one is 3.7 cu ft at 32 Hz too. Not much more volume, the double baffle upside took quite a bit of what we expected. The new box has a kerf slot port : it's really beautiful, and was easy to do wit the design provided by Dylan. First try : got it !!! I will post pics tomorrow. Just wanted to say that the sound is different now. Don't know how to say it but it gives more low notes. We did not expect so much change!! And we love it!!! The owner had a processor(or active filter, I don't know exactly), he took it off. He turned the bass boost off too. Just one question : the port length is way shorter in this box, and the box has quite the same exterior dimensions, for the same tuning. How can that be? BTW : I took the "old" box for my 15" Icon : first listen is impressive on the low lows!!! I love it, but got to test it more!

Welcome to the ported world ! I'm in, and I love it. BTW : I did not know how to design a ported box, so I just ordered a custom design from Fisher customs, and it works great. Now, I order a new design for each box, and it is serious work, you can't go wrong with them!

who all has been scorned or belittled by ///M5?

That's a lot of talking !!! I agree, some mods can be rude some times, but they always give you the good advice : and that is why I love this forum !!! On the proper grammar or spelling : think about foreigners, please. It is easier to understand when you use proper English, good grammar,... Thanks to you all -
Here is the kerfed slot port. Quite easy to do , according to the builder (he had the design done by fishercustoms).

I recently changed the enclosure of my sub. Nothing else has changed : same electrical, same amp,... The old one was too small, and badly tuned (too high). The new one is really a good one. When I made the change, I was not so happy with it. And after a few days I start to like it more and more! Could it be that the sub need to adapt to its enclosure for some time before playing as it should ? Maybe I am just getting used to it! What do you think about that?

Thumppers Ford Windstar Ground Pounder
Notorious97200 replied to Thumpper's topic in Pound That Sound
oh yes, they are !!! Never heared an Xcon? I have, and I'd love to hear 4 15's Xcon in an instal!!!!!!!! -
Go Xcon !!! You'll love it. If you think it's too loud , you can turn down the gain. I dont't know/think the Icon will like your 1500watts, you will have to be careful with all this power.

You wanted 2 nice little subs, and what you got is : 2 monster subs !!! !ut they really do look nice! Your SUV will be very very loud;)

changing box : how does the sub "feel" it?

any discount if you have bought a sub
Notorious97200 replied to millertime's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
The 1500D should be enough for that beast ! 2000 watts will ask for more electrical upgrades, don't you think? I am not an expert on electrical upgrades!... I heared one on about 1200w, and it slams soooo hard! It is now playing with 2 saz 1000 strapped (1800 at 2 ohms), but I can't say I hear the 600 more watts. (It is not playing in my car. The owner is more than happy with it.) -

The Icon has a strong bottm end, yes for sure. It plays quite flat on all its frequencies. It plays so low, when you compare it to some other woofers. I mean it plays low, but always with accuracy. It is music, not !!! The Xcon is really more powerful, and is strong on the bottom too. It's called a sq woofer, but it has strong spl capacity (not for competition, but for listening). The main difference is in the output for these 2 subs. The xcon has so much output, with 1200 to 1800watts, that you can't focus on the low notes only. Everything comes in your face !!! The Icon seems to be usable for all kind of music lovers. It is very loud, don't believe it's not, at all!!! If you're not a basshead you don't really need an xcon. Maybe others will disagree!!! In my town, caraudio fanatics use to play or demo their system on a parking lot every friday night. They have loud system. But when I play, they're all amazed with the way the Icon goes low and still very clean!!! When my friend plays with his xcon, they all ask him to get out of the car, to turn it down!!!That it's not suitable for human being!!! They have never said that for all their "spl" install with "3000" watts rms. It's just my opinion. Maybe I am wrong, but I hope you can understand my words 1sashanka, as it not very easy to explain in my "English as foreign language" !!!!!!!!!!! -
Sorry, I don't even remember how to post my picture (from my gallery at ssa). will work on it !!!

Here is mine sorry for the quality, but with this cellphone you can't see the color of the carpet (blue) ! -
A 12" Fi Q on a powerful amp should be quite impressive for a first install. Maybe something is going wrong? What do you have for front speakers? Any amp on them? 2 Xcon would be a lot of bass (without good front speakers!!), Even one would give you a killer system Another option would be a second sub like yours and a well design ported box.
