RD Alpha v2 15 vs. new RE XXX 15

Look at the subs on the ssa store : I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. And they're not the most expensive!! I like the fact that you can talk to the owners of the different brands here. You will have all the info you need. Good luck

Back to Fi products and VERY pleased

It is not a good point for Audioque, really not! Nobody came in to tell us good things about them.

    Going Active

Thank you M5. I need to study some more ! I must try to set my amps like that, one day! I love this forum !!!

Chevy Cavalier, Kerfed Port Build, 12" BTL

I don't understand why you designed the exterior panel of the port like that. I understand the benefits of the double flared port, but I can't see the use of this long piece of wood (outside of the box). But, nice work !! Congratulations ! You do that for a living ??!!!

    Going Active

Very technical thread ! 1) I thought you had to set the sub sonic fillter just under the tuning frequency of the box. My box is tuned at 32 Hz, and I tried to set the ssf at 30Hz. Is it really too high ? 2) BTW how can you be sure of the amps settings? It's difficult to see on all the amps I had : there are just a few numbers written for the amps settings. Thanks a lot for all the informations we receive on this forum !

    Component Set

Really? I have never heard of that. I will have to try that in my own install. I will have to try that too. but, so far, I love how my speakers sound !!!

    New amp

All the amps listed are good ones. Look around again! I saw internal pics of some AQ and Sundown amps : you can tell which seems better just by looking ! I know nothing about electronics, but it was so obvious !!! If you have the money, go for the Sundown. If your budget is too small, go AQ or APipe. Or save money until you can afford a Sundown. The saz 1000 seems to be a good choice : you don't want to compete, so you don't need 1500 watts, and you want to keep your electrical stock. It's up to you now ! Tell us what you choose.

    (4) 10" SSA Dcons

This looks good ! one little question (silly maybe, but, you know, we learn everyday !) : How is the output with this kind of instal when the back seats are up? Do you loose a lot? I feel like the seats are going to block/stop the bass too much.

    1 15" xcon or 2 12" icons

Don't forget that 2 Icons are more expensive than one Xcon. But both will be good ! Good luck
  10. The OP wants a pair of L7 : difficult to find on SSA !!! Nobody tried to make him buy some other subwoofers ?
  11. For 2 L7 15" you can use 2000 watts. What are your voice coils config ? DVC2 or DVC4 ? You must know that before getting any amplifier. All the amps listed make their "maximum" power at 1 Ohm.

I like the box, a lot. How does your customer like it, going from sealed to ported?

12" Kicker CVX common chamber reg slot port

It's unfair !Your boxes are too beautiful! I like how you do the port : what is that material? Not just paint? How can I do that myself?

    50.4 bridged power

I know nothing about electronics, but I was wondering how can it be 4 x 50 and 2 x 160, not 2 x 100 ? I use my 50.4 bridge, on my component set (rated for 2 x 80 watts), and I don't see my speakers struggle at all ! They seem to like that Sundown power. (I've set the gains by ear, no DMM settings). I've noticed a big improvment with the outputs from the tweeters, but not so much from the mids. I use the passive filters.

    Is that a good setup?

Have you bought the btl already ? You're sure it's what you want/need ? You could take a look at the xcons : they're more musical than the btl's.

    10 icon compared to 12w6v2

Try the 12" Icons. You will see later if you nedd to build another bigger box. With that kind of amp, you will love them subs. I am quite sure you won't want the w6's!!! I hope you have a good frontstage, because you will have soooo much (clean) bass !

    Cone area VS Power

Hi, If you want to listen to music everyday, and not only test tones to compete, you can also try a 15" BL in a big ported box. There are also lots of other subs that can do the job. I've never heared a Bl or a Btl, but I would chose the Bl. Just my 2 cts.

    What happened to *** sub?

I don't think you can talk about this guy here ! I don't know why, but you have the first name, you know what is this forum about, so you can find who it is !!! Something must have been wrong between him and...others!

    DCONS for a friend

Try to buy ONE dcon first, with a good box. For the amp, you can also try a used one if you're on a budget. but you need power, so look for the most powerful you can for your money : you will find advices on what to run, here. After that, you will see if he needs a second sub. Just my 2 cents.

can these speakers run a front stage?

The type r will do the job, for sure. If you have any monster sub(s) in your car, they may be just a little weak. Make sure you use an amplifier on these speakers. You don't have to buy a high end amp, a 2 x 80 watts amp should be enough. You must work on your doors : deadening, sealing holes, ...
