just receive a 15" Xcon : what to do?
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The sub is already playing! I put it in the box maybe 3 hours after I got it from UPS!!! It is still so hard. Maybe it will take some time to be ok, as I only have a 1000 watts amp on it. When it is ok I will make a review : from Icon to Xcon on a saz 1000d. -
just receive a 15" Xcon : what to do?
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Ok cool ! I don't even remember how it was for the Icon : seems that it was ok from the box ! I can already feel that it is "stronger", deeper,... Don't know how to say it. But I love it! The saz 1500 will come one day, for sure! -
Fi BUILD your sub when they receive your money. You are not buying something in stock like a mainstream brand. Give them at least 2 weeks total. You will get your subs and you will be very happy!!! I understand it is hard to wait for stuff! I had to wait quite a month for my Xcon sub, because of holiday season for UPS(!!!). But it was worth the wait! Dam...it bangs hard!

With this 1200 w amp you should be good with a single 15" like an xcon, or even with 2 12's Icon. I like simple system with only one sub in the back in a good custom ported box. What did you not like in the BL's ? This information could help us to help you !!!

Use at least 0 ga wire for power and ground and for the big3. You could be good to go with these upgrades, but we don't know how (powerful)is your stock electrical system. Do you have an amp for your mids? I would do only one good AGM batt for this system. You will find out if it is enough by checking the voltage when playing.

You can't go wrong with Fishercustoms boxes! I'm using one of his boxes for my sub, and I love it. If you're from Louisiana, look at Audibel Customs. They have a sub forum here. Take a look at their works. Shipping will not be too high, or maybe you can pick the box yourself.

They make a lot of advertisments in french car magazines. They have 3 lines of speakers, but as their name says, they are specialized in bass and vented enclosure!!! Never heared anything from them, so I can't say nothing. I feel like they are closer to Power Ac than Focal! But I may be wrong!!!

He said he needs 2 sets of components at 150 $ for each set. So 300 $ total ! That should be enough for a good set (in the USA).

I have never tested or used any AQ product, but you can trust some people here! Ask M5 about another choice for this AQ sub, and why he would not use it !!

1) I don't know if you can fit 2 15" Q in a 4.5 cu ft sealed enclosure, that seems too small. 2) 4.5 sealed or 4 ported to 30 Hz? Impossible! 3) What do you want to know? Which setup will be louder between 2 subs sealed or 1 sub ported? I don't know! You should tell what you want, what car, what music you listen to,...etc You can also read some more on this forum. I'm sure you could find lots of informations, so that you could ask more specific questions. Good luck and Happy New Year to you all !

Fi BTL "15 Subwoofer Enclosure Recomendations
Notorious97200 replied to Se7eN's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Are you really sure you need such a big monster sub like a btl ? Why do you talk about the Pioneer amp? Do you already have it ? You can play without any HO alt, but it will be Very bad for your car !!! Usually Corollas don't have big alt, so you definitely need a HO one, and 2 agm batteries : one under the hood and one in the trunk. You must understand that all these advices are important to have your car and your system safe for long time. BTW look for deadening materials for your doors and the trunk at least : there is a sub forum here about SecondSkin products. -
Dam... That will be a really expensive woofer !!! And a good marketing idea too, for AA. Seems that this guy is well known on the web.
-
Oh! Sorry! I will get my Xcon before you , as I already have my UPS tracking number!
-
Means that you must wait for your sub! Like me! At least you know it has been built already.

I think 50 hz is good to set the gain. But for your ssf you have to try several tones under the tuning frequency of your box. And choose the one that you like, and that will not arm the sub. You have to look at the sub moving with the different test tones : you don't want it to break! It's what I understood recently. I did not have time to test it. You can also set the ssf just under the tuning frequency of your box.

sketchup for a quat havoc 15 enclosure
Notorious97200 replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
I'm in! Want to see this one! What car will receive that monster?!! -
Just a little question, please! If the OP already has 2 sets of 6.5", can he run one set as dedicated midbass (from 80 to around 500hz) and the second as midrange(above 500)?. He would have to buy only one set of tweeters. But that "is" 6 channels of amp. Of course the sub(s) would play under 80 hz.
-
If you're into SPL, you should look for a bigger sub : 8" seems small tome. You can find a cheap 12" or even 15", it would be better. Just my 02 cts.
-
1 saz 3500 should be enough for you : it's plenty of power for 2 BTLs. With a good electrical system, these subs will slam hard. And the saz3500 has 0 Ga terminals, for sure. Just to understand, why do you want the Memphis amp? Do you already have one amp like that for your mids/highs speakers? I've never heared anything (bad or good) on Memphis amps. RF T4000 : hum! Read and search more infos.

I didn't know I was on the dark side !!! I wanted to try AQ, but they told me they don't ship where they don't have repair center available. I liked their quick and polite answer. So, I saved some more cash and went to Sundown, happy and still happy!

The L7 can be really loud. The only way I liked it was in a huge 5+ ft3 sealed box. You might like the BL 15, but be sure to build a good box for it.
-
Good luck with your build! 2 15's'xcon : that will be a real groundpounder!!! I'd love to have such a big install. Maybe one day I'll find a HO alt for my car?!
-
Why do your sub is wired for a 8-ohm load? It would be better to have it at 2 ohms and to turn down the gain on that amplifier. Turn the bastboost OFF please!

cool, but scarry !!!

Xcon and Audiopipe AP1800D?
Notorious97200 replied to PHATBOi's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Why don't you keep your MB Quart amp ? 2000 watts is a lot for the xcon, so you just turn down the gain. The Audiopipe may be a good match with your sub, but not better than the dsc 2000.1.
