I was talking on the phone to a seller from a local shop : they work on batteries and accessories for boats. They have Optima, Vision, a few small Odyssey, and Trojan batteries. He knows there are a lot of rebadged batts, but he feels like the Trojan 31 is a good choice : they're made in the USA ! At first he wanted to sell a Group31 Optima, when I told him it was for car audio. No thanks ! I'll keep my Vision 105 for now.

I love Paris. Enjoy your stay !

I hope you'll have time to enjoy Holland....(beer, flowers, cheese, and...whatever !) Good flight.

I would like to have a bigger amplifier on my Zcon, but I know I won't feel the difference from 2000-2400 to 3000 watts. So I will work on the car : stop rattles, lower road noise, get a better rear battery, ... That can be efficient. And there is work to do !
-
Good idea : I can just meet him at the battery shop. I need to make some local research : we have a lot of boats here, I know there are a few shops selling batteries. Maybe I can find some good ones. I'd rather get a new battery for sure. I'll let you know what I can find here.

Yes, there's a shop which sells all kind of batteries near me. They can test all batteries but I don't think I will be able to test the 7500 there, before buying one. The seller won't line the idea.
-
Visually they look brand new. I will test them with a DMM. I don't know if I will be able to do a load test. What is it ? Try to charge and see how high the voltage goes ? I don't understand. Sorry ! The deal is killer : half US price, and I'm in the French Caribbeans. It's quite impossible to have one, here. I had a killer deal on one of the 2 3400 a shop received last year ! But this one is a better deal, for a way bigger battery. It seems that this 7500 is wider than a Group 31 battery. I'll find a way ti fit it under my enclosure again. IF I make the deal. I still need to make some money for that.

Looking for a small voltmeter
Notorious97200 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I don't need it to be extremely accurate. I'm not launching a spaceship, I know it can help to watch " if the status quo has changed." It's how I saw I had a serious problem. I can buy any one. Ok I'll get one locally and will plug it on the battery. I'd like to find another one to run on the cig-lighter plug. Thanks. -

Good cheap foam to stop rattle? are these good?
Notorious97200 replied to Florida_Audio's topic in Sound Deadening
If it's plastic touching another part, try to put carpet between the 2 pieces that makes noise. Each time you get rid of a certain noise, you'll find another to work on ! Until your car is quiet enough for you. Good luck. -
I'll take some soon !

I changed the tweeters. I found a good deal on a pair of Davis Acoustics TWX DF. They sound good, I like them so far. They are titanium dome tweeters. They are so clean, and ...accurate. I don't know how to say it, but I feel they are more hifi oriented than my previous Focal set. They fit well in the stock location , on the dash. But I managed to aim them way less on the windshield. They just fit very, very tight, without any screw ! I found they were sounding better like that, rather than before (aiming at the windshield). Crossed at 3500 Hz, 24dB.

Here are pics of the piece of wire I had for the big 3 5+ alt to + batt) : I took it out. The alternator is regulated, I'll let it work ! I kept the grounds only, for the big3.
-
little update : I put the rear battery under the box, in the spare tire location. You can see how much room I gained ! Now there is another piece of carpeted wood to cover that "hole", so it's cleaner than this picture.
-
I've been saved by a cheap voltmeter : it showed me I was loosing too much voltage. When I checked under the hood, the positive post was burning on the alt ! The plastic case broke on the + from alt to batt ( it was 0 Ga Knu OFC, rolled in a kind of Techflex though).

2015 Ford F150 System suggestions and ??s
Notorious97200 replied to Spencer Kennedy's topic in General Audio
With this budget, you should keep the stock head unit, and get an adapter (LOC type) or an amplifier which accepts high levels inputs. I would look for strong 4 channel amplifier on a set of comps and a sub...just to cut budget. Take a look at the brands you can find in the SSA Store. They're legit, from what I understand ! I hope you can have a box built easily. -
I've never tried a Gcon. I would choose the Icon for sure !
-
So much power on the Seas ? And they look brand new ? I'm happy to read that ! Mine are on 40 watts and I feel they are kind of loud ! I wonder how they sound with much more power. I'm waiting on your opinion about the SSA mids...
-
You can ask here for a box deign and have someone local build it for you. Try this forum and facebook : you will find a lot of box designers and box builders. Good luck.
-
sound similar or not ? Don't argue with M5 : he can read, and he knows what he's talking about. I know I'm biased towards SSA, but we're on their forum : they have enough good subs on their store to promote ID or JL !!! Personally I love the Icon : it can be loud af, and it sounds sooo good !
-
Whatever you chose, you should get a custom box, tuned to 32-34 Hz. You can have one single sub, and keep money for the custom box and sound deadening...
