What are your guys opinions
Notorious97200 replied to Juice0723's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You bought your h u and the mic was not in the box. Sure about that ? I've bought 2 h u like this one and there were a mic in both : one from a US internet dealer(indoaudio)the 880 prs and another from a French shop(the p 88rs II). I never tried this t/a thing; maybe one day. I don't feel the need to do it !!! Good luck What's the problem with the alt you ordered ? -
Ernie's 2 12" Demo Car Build | New PICS p4
Notorious97200 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Team SSA
nice box. I hope the Civic will handle that ! What amp will you use ? And where will you mount the amps? There's no room left in the trunk ! -
[quote name='Cablguy184' run the rears off the radio power. To do what ? If you can't ear them, why do you still want them in ? You're adding some speakers that don't sound as good as the front ones, with less power : it can't be a good thing. IMO I tried in my car, and get rid of the rear speaers : I love it !!!
-
Like Duran told you : go listen to some speakers before anything. Take a look at the ssa store , here. You can find good deals on better equipments.
-
I thought the ktx 100 was like a small amp for the speakers. Will you use it with a 4 ch amp ? 100 or 125 watts will probably sound the same to your ears.
-
Make a semi wall, with subs in the trunk facing the back seats. But it will probably be too small!!! Just take off the backseats!

I know it is so hard to wait for what you've already paid! Breathe, try to think about something else!!! Work on your instal, make it pretty ....

Sufficient electrical system?
Notorious97200 replied to ShaneSauce's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
2000 (true) watts rms will be enough to run a btl and to be really loud. With the money saved, you can work on a serious enclosure!! Lots of people use 3500 watts for their btl, but it must be for comps, or they know what they're doing with the gain knob. Like they told you, put the yellow top under the hood and watch your voltage. Then you will know if you need another battery, or more. Do it step by step to see the effects of each upgrade. You will just buy what you need. -
Hmm the only one i see is for like $500. I'm happy with what the Sae-1200dv2 can do though, and I cant afford to spend any more than the $315 for it anyways lol, even though having an saz1500d would indeed be sick. The bl is rated for 1000 watts rms, so the sae is enough, even if you have a fully loaded bl. You should not feel the extra watts an saz 1500 will provide. If you want to enter spl comps, that can be different.

midrange/ passive crossover compatibility
Notorious97200 replied to dale315's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I think you can use the passive x-over for the tweeters, and the amp or the h u settings for the mids. But you will have to know what you're doing. Do you really like these tweeters, or is it a budget issue ? Maybe you will have different opinions regarding your real goals for your system. -
If you are around 13-14.4 volts with engine on, at 2000 rpm, it's good ! 12.5 v with no engine. but if you loose volts on each heavy bass note, you have a problem. I am not an electrical expert at all ! So, keep looking for more informations. I can't understand why people tend to add a second battery before a bigger alternator. I'd love to have some explanations ! Even if I know a second batt is cheaper than a HO alternator, and easier to instal. For the box, take a look at the technical part on the ssa site(click on "home page" at the top of this page) : they have great designs that could work for you. They're also free to download. You can go to the shop and order a custom design if you want. Good luck
-
Your box looks good. For a first try at designing box, I can only say : congratulations ! Save some money to build the box with 3/4" Mdf. I did not understand why you did not want to use the "official" ssa designs ! You won't be disappointed, they are made to specs. Even in the smallest size recomanded you will love these subs. You have come to a good selection of subs. The Icon is niiiiiiice , you will love it on 1000 watts rms. But, since you're already talking of upgrades, the Xcon may be a better choice. On the same 1000 w it will pound even more than the Icon! Good luck !

Can't you change the title ?

1 ohm vs 4 ohm Question
Notorious97200 replied to Ginobli07's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you can spend what you want, take the most powerful amp, and play it at 4 ohms : it can't be bad for your car. But, understand that you don't need it, 1 ohm is fine for subs !!! For future upgrades, like a 2nd sub, you will be happy to have more power available ! -
nice system. nice choice of equipments!!! I'd love to listen to those Sundown sa. I've only read good things about them.
-
The btl could be a good choice, for future upgrades. A HO alt is not always needed for 2000 watts rms. You have to chekck for voltage drops. If you have the money, go for the btl (just my 2 cents). You will be able to upgrade your system without having to buy another sub, just another amp ! Maybe others will tell you go for the bl !!!
-
Congratulations for your purchase. Glad you like your sub !! But,.................keep that woman !!! She put half the money on it ? Dam... She must love you so much!!!

Welcome bro I like to see some Caribbeans People here! You are on The Rrrrright Forum !!!!!

tuned in ! I was expecting more .........pics!!! With 2 18"s Xcons, you will have enough bass to keep up with all these speakers!! Ooops : I did not realize it was just following the old topic!

nice work so far ! You're building this box as if your life depends on it !!! That is how we all should do things:peepwall: Keep posting pics, PLEASE !!!

ROFL What seems impossible to you can be easy (or not) for others !!! imagination, skills, tools, help,...... -
Can't find a credible answer to this...
Notorious97200 replied to Dpaw37's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
it's your amp gain settings, no the h u. You adjust the "volume" / power of your amp according to the"volume" / output power of your h u. So, you will have no problem !!! just my 2 cents, as I'm really not an expert !!! -
MDF enclosure question
Notorious97200 replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
My enclosure does not have double baffle, but I have some bracing in it. The panels are not so long, so, there is not a lot of flex : I can't see any ! For my next enclosure, a sealed one, I will only add another piece of mdf to flush mount the sub : it looks cool, and can help with the flex (not as good as a complete second baffle, but...). I will not forget the internal bracing. Btw my sub is an Xcon 15.
