Give us a budget. With 1500 watts and 5 cu ft to work with, try a 15" Fi Btl or Bl, or a Sundown Z15. Some Incriminator Audio subs can be a good choices too. If you want 2 12" sub, it will be more expensive than a single 15". Think about it. -
New Facebook Features on SSA!
Notorious97200 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
I tried the translation part today. Not always accurate, but it is great. I can tell some of my friends to come and take a look, and register here. fantastic !!! I've never find such car audio forum on the French web. They talk more about speakers and amps, not on build logs, installs and bass. I will take a look at the other features. I'm not on Facebook or twitter, but I'll try what I can ! -
should i keep these or go with something different

You can have a 15" sub ported in your trunk. You got room! -
Help choosing one of these 15's
Notorious97200 replied to cleavenger74's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I don't think you will have a lot answers ! so much subs in the market, and you can only choose from these 2 ? Browse the forum, the store here, maybe you can find something we all can speak about ! for examples : ssa icon or xcon, fi q , ...etc -
You're talking about "bass boost" knob, or about the gain knob. The remote you receive with this amp is a gain knob, not for bass boost. Don't touch the real bass boost knob on the amp, set it to 0.

Joyeux anniversaire !!! Happy Bday to you !

Try a ported box for a 10" or 12" sub. But be sure to have a box small enough to be able to turn it in your trunk. My sub is louder and lower in a big sealed box, firing back than the same sub in a well built ported box with the sub and port firing up in the trunk (hatchback car too) in the same car, with the same power. You see, it's not easy. I think a 10" Fi Q in a ported box can please you more. There are some serious box builder on these forums, look for them !

Tell him to save some cash, and to sell his amp if he can have a good price for it. $200 for 2 12's ? You won't find louder than what he already had. Maybe used subs : one used Fi BL, or Sundown Z15 v1. Try one 15" sub, it will be cheaper, and can be louder than 2 cvr's. Good luck.

OMG ! One of the nicest box I've seen. The port is huge and wonderful ! It's not fair ! How can you ?!!!

Why OVN1 5500D amp Smoked
Notorious97200 replied to jaydawg's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
R.I.P. power acoustik ! It's time for you to get a good amplifier for your sub. Oh no ! sorry; I miss the warranty part. When you receive your amp from warranty, try to sell it if you can. Before buying a new one, ask for some advice here. You don't want that to happen twice, don't you ? -

Notorious97200 replied to Cant Get Enough's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You can run 0 ga wire from your batt to a distribution block near your amp(s) and then use 4 ga or whatever fits to the amps. It's much better like that. If you ever need to upgrade your system, you will already have the good wire size. If you use only one amp, you can easily add another one. -
Tell us what you need ? Your goal for your system ? What music do you listen to? What car is it going in ? Electrical,...etc What amp do you have, or can you get ? If you want more help, tell us more !

Just 2 little bags of groceries !!! I'm happy now, I know my amps are not getting too hot too fast. What do you think about the way I'm firing the sub ? I feel it gives me more output like that. What can I do to stop the rattles I get now from the trunk lid ? I already put some Damplifier on, but it is not enough. I will ask secondskin(they answer really fast), and maybe sds (never tried before). -

There is a little less room with the ported box ! I think I loose output with the sub firing up. I have even more output with the sealed box and the sub firing back. I love it. I will find time to buy some black carpet for the box. I don't want people to see the box when I take the hatch cover off. 10 % black titanium tint is not enough with our powerful Caribbean sun !!! -

It's a total mess ! As you can see, I have wire of all colors : it's ugly but it works so well !!! I really need to do something to clean up my install. But wire is so expensive here. For example : o ga wire is sold at about 17€/m : $20 for 3 feet. What can I do ? I don't want to add a sheet of mdf (too heavy !). I will try something with carpet, maybe ! -

I used this system to power my sub : it comes from pro audio speakers. Easy to unhook the speakers : it's kind of plug & play, and it only needs a little hole in the box to fit tight. But my main concern is about the wire size : we used electrical cable, but it's small when I look at what people use. So far, I have no problem with it. -
