Sundown SAX100.4 VS Arc Audio KS 300.4

Oh ok...hrmm. I still recommend no speakers in the rear of the vehicle. Just stick with something up front and run the sub. If you want to setup "fill" using rear speakers here's the CORRECT application... Using speakers for "Fill"

To get back on topic I should add that if you're looking to budget you can find some PPI 355cs for ~$100. They're great speakers for the price and based on the 346is from a/d/s/. The 346is are the same speakers used for Orion's HCCA line up in the late 90's. I've heard they're a bit weak with mid-bass so you'd probably wanna find a sub that can player lower...possibly 125hz to 200hz. I run a 12db slope@200hz to keep panel buzz to a minimum. It works great with the sub choice I made and very transparent. It sounds like all the bass is coming from my components in the front. If you want cheaper...you'd probably need to find raw drivers. Sundown SAX100.4 VS Arc Audio KS 300.4

That sounds like overkill to me. I'm assuming the 6x9's are for bass? Maybe you should find some small 8's or try IB 12's. I don't think you should add rear speakers w/full range. They'll just confuse the front stage unless you find a technique to try for a "fill" application. If you like SQ instead of a lot of bump Typany(sp?) has a neat idea with some 6.5" woofer array in a hybrid isobaric format. They're pretty cheap you'd just have to build a box for them.

If you want sound quality you'd be amazed what you can do with rear fill. Let me define something for you though...rear fill does not equate to full range speakers in the rear of your vehicle. Maintaining stereo speakers in the rear will never equate to the application of fill. Instead of me talking...here's a quick synopsis: Quick summation for PROPER fill application If these techniques aren't used then it's not "fill" Correct Application of Rear Fill

Sundown SAX100.4 VS Arc Audio KS 300.4

this will be a daily system, I plan on going active. The component's will be in front and a pair of 6x9's and 6.5 co's in the rear so all in all 8 speakers I'm confused...could you clear that up? ...a set in front, a set of 6x9's in the rear to sit along side another set of 6.5" speakers(assuming tweeter too)? I guess going active would be a long term project then?

    i need some suggestions

well the guy had 2 of the soundstream 4000 amps on 4-15's in his avalache and i metered it on the termlab and he was hittin 152.1, so he knows what loud is and i already told him that he wasn't gonna get the same performance because of the the car being a converible, but i was gonna try to get him as loud i as i can. i can make his trunk rattle thats easy but i want to get it loud in the cab as well, and i don't care about the roof tearing. he's already aware of what may happen, now it my job to get them to happen. also how are those sa's musicly? can they get loud and still sound good? That sounds like your problem..."can they sound good?" You want loud and quality? Maybe that's why he wants sealed? It's usually the most accurate and blends better with mid-bass when installed properly but so can a port or band pass that's designed right. I don't know if I'd try to be too technical with your customer. He sounds like a lot of talk without knowledge to back it up. Build him something nice and see what happens? Make it flashy and "bump". You're gonna be frustrated if you're trying to do an SPL rig with that vehicle tho.

Sundown SAX100.4 VS Arc Audio KS 300.4

I'm not sure if this helps but I'm currently using a SAX-100.4 with some old a/d/s/ 346is components. With the passive crossover the sound is beautiful and accurate for daily driving(is that your goal?). I've actually decided to grab a 50.4 to go 100% sundown. With that said, I attempted active to try and settle a few hiccups I have in response instead of trying to deal with location and install. The 100.4 is a bit much on tweets, hence the 50.4, but it has helped tremendously thus far with going active. Cross over points are very flexible, the downside is that you're not quite sure what frequency you're tuning. But who cares?...you tune based on sound anyways There are 12 and 24 decibel slopes available. I'm matching this with an Audiocontrol DQS for processing. But again, I'm using processing to make up for lack of installation quality. I don't have any experience with Arc but I don't think you'd be ashamed to use the 100.4 in any installation. The downside is that it's big. Jacob -- big thumbs up! Thanks again for great customer service Install Overview -- DIYMA Install log GPONA
