I am not sure how IB sounds, but i am very interested in trying it. my problem is. if i do not like it. can i put the IB in a large ported enclosure? or can the SSD be used for IB? here a rough idea of how i will have to build the baffle to house an 18" IB. my trunk opening to the cabin is only 10x25 this is a side view. all lines are 3/4" MDF

Can this safely be removed from my car?

well ive got a little more research to do but 99% chance ill be going with the 187 15s, and roughly 36-40hz tuning -
In the trunk of my car, there are two bars running across the top of my trunk, that attach to my trunk lid, i suppose its there to adjust tension for my trunk lid, will if i remove those i can get an extra 2" height and that will make a large difference for my enclosure and layout in general. Anyone remove these before?

with my enclosure, port size, power, vehicle and the fact my subs and port are firing into the cabin of the car, what do you recomend for tuning? 800rms, 6.0 and two 6" PVC ports -

we are on the same page, this is a 2001 mercury sable. as of now i have an alpine mrv850 800rms@2ohm pushing a single RE sE 12 in 2.5 35" of port 35hz. not loud enough. so i was going to get a pair of IA 187 15s or one Fi SSD 18. im leaning more towards the 15s, sure it would be louder and i wont need to cut those bars out -

What do you consider loud for daily play?
AirFramerMack replied to phresh's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Burping 150db is ALOT different then doing 150 listening to a typical song IE Nelly country grammar, bad example but all i could think of. I personally think if you can burp a 145+ then that setup should be more then sufficient for daily listening but then again this thread is all opinion oriented -
Ok so i have everything lined up, going to start tearing my current system apart this weekend to make room for the new one. But what tuning should i shoot for. As of now the two best sounding songs i listen to are Trap or die, and juice box. i like how juice box sounds but trap or die seems to be the loudest, and blueberry yum yum and late nite tip seem a little too low. i was going to try 37hz.... what do you think
-
if anyone knows how picky and indecisive i am its you bro. Im got the box being built this weekend. im going to order subs tomorrow or thursday but the box is going to take me about an extra week to finish doing everything i want to do
-
just another hobbyist informed me of that. So now that I hear from who it really matters. two 187 15s it is. with two 6" PVC ports. Wish i could afford aeroports

I have had peel and seal in my car for roughly 4months with no problems, and its been in my truck now going on two years. aswell no problems. so i will stick with what works for me, and ive never experienced a "smell"
-
Ok well I hate to continue asking this but im sick of investing money into this car and it just not being enough. So I was just informed that 6.0 is not enough for two 187 15s, was told the lows will drop off quickly and two 187 12s would be louder overall......... I thought 6.0 would be enough for those,if not ill try the 12s

What New HU....
AirFramerMack replied to AirFramerMack's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
that is nice but the only thing i notice which i didnt mention is the RCAs need to be the kind that stick out. the depth of my dash i have to pull those to the side or my HU wont fit in -
I am going to be selling my current HU and upgradin soon and ive narrowed it down to the two I like. Please feel free to chime in on something better. 200 is about my price range http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_15932_...C+KS-PD100.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8737_Eclipse+CD5100.html

you think the pioneer would be of better quality then the JVC or eclipse -

a cd player that doesnt skip very easy, would like decent preouts with subwoofer control, good EQ and either an MP3 player hook up or USB plug -
OK I think ive got this correct now. I can either do 38"x18.25"x20" with two 6"x12.75" ports, 37hz or I can do same enclosure size and a 4"x16.75"x11" 37-38hz and 6.0 after displacement..... Im leaning more towards the round ports myself
-
hahah totally forgot about that. This box/setup is just getting on my nerves. Im almost pushing towards two 12s just to make it easier. I can do a 4x16.75"slot port or two 6" pvc ports and still get the same amount of airspace after displacement
-
what about two 6" ports?
