    DSP's and REAL amplifiers

Pioneer has a 2 channel amp that's been out for a couple of years that is a pure gain block. Never really cared for Tru amps myself.
  4. Why not go bigger, the 3 Ethos should take more power than 4k?
  5. You mean IA, 32hz should be fine.
  6. Which would you do? Red Top seems to be the best for starting purposes, but here in NC we don't see a lot of extremely cold temps so would the Yellow be the better option since it has the greater reserve hours? I ran a Red Top under the hood and Batcap 800 in the rear for years with no issues awhile back.
  7. Since you have a dedicated rear battery for the system i would say the Red Top but you can't go wrong either way.
  8. According to facebook, Obsidian Audio is pulling out of car audio.

Did you get another Xcon or just rebuilding the enclosure for your currents setup? I bought those same clamps from Lowes.

You realize that will void your warranty.Way to go in answering his question. Plus amps only have a year warranty so its not like he is missing out.OP i dont see a problem since the amplifier has a working voltage up to 18.5 volts. If somebody had a problem it was more than likely user error. Call or email SQ themselves, if you are worried.

Just because amps have the same setup on the inside or same number of parts as other brands, it doesn't mean they are equal. The compoments themselves are what make amps, some use higher quality parts with higher tolerances than other companies. In car audio looks are not everything

    Metering Your System

If competing is not your goal then find someone locally who has a term-lab or try to go to a car audio meet close to you. It will save you money as both reliable meters are upwards of $300.

    HDS 210

If it fits your goals, budget and power requirements then yes. It doesnt take much to make a sub for daily use, these subs are used in daily installs everyday.
  16. Well go ahead and get the battery now, a stout electrical is always a great thing.
  17. If you have the money then get an AGM for underhood when you can. Right now you should be fine but usually its better to have the same type of batteries (ie. AGM) used together.

    Chop's 85' S10 (single cab) * 3 18"s (4th order)

Great progress and new paint job is badass, love the work so far Chop.
  19. He didnt cover the port with the amp, do you see any screws mounting it to the enclosure? Its just there to show what will be powerirng the subwoofer.

    New front stage....need input

No it wont give you the same reading. If you place it at the sub amp you will be only receiving the voltage the amplifier is seeing at any given time. Correct me if im wrong anybody, but at the rear battery or headunit may be the same or close to one another. I usually just tie mine into the radios wiring harness
