I wouldn't put subs in my back seat area myself, sucks about the loss of output but that is the downfall to having a convertible.

Subwoofer wire size?
jcarter1885 replied to pmureika's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
very pointless especially for daily, but it will do if you wanna be cool. As short as subwoofer runs are the bigger wire wont make a difference. -
New amp gets hot, goes into protect
jcarter1885 replied to EddieC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Gain setting too high, in turn causing the amp to produce more heat then power. In turn causing the amp to thermally protect, being under the seat with no air flow could play a role as well. -
Welcome Exo Contralto to his new Section at SSA!

My guess would be just for traffic, hoping his followers would come join the forum. -
Having bad thoughts.... lol

The only reason i would do the ID700.2 is to match the Sundown and IA, all three being all black. Or do the 2 Boston Acoustics like planned with the ID700.2. Then save the IA for anoher install. Yeah go ahead and install both Crescendo amps. Save the Sundown Saz-1500 till you get the 125.2 back, if you dont have plans for them then sell in a package deal. Just my .02 -
New car, should I get an aftermaket head unit ?
jcarter1885 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you're already using the headunit for your sub then keep it that way. Yeah no need for 2 mini dsp's, just get one for your front stage so you can run active. -

Yes you would need a second mini-dsp for subwoofer unless you want to use the IA20.1s crossover features. -
New amp gets hot, goes into protect
jcarter1885 replied to EddieC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Those subs wont benefit at all from 12 gauge wire, dont waste the time and money. Now on the other hand the Ethos will need bigger than the 14 gauge wire, 10 should suffice. -

Wonder about my alts
jcarter1885 replied to antoinez28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah man anytime you post and need help troubleshooting, try to provide as much info as possible instead of just one sentence saying my alt gets hot. Let us know what upgrades or changes you have done so we can better asses the situation.- 19 replies

rear battery grounding?
jcarter1885 replied to 1way's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Some amps have a soft turn on thump and some dont. If the same amps were in before doing upgrades and changes and its one of thise thats thumping, then check all your grounds. Might not have a good ground on your rear battery. Cool story bro -

Bottom and top one gets my vote -
Low volume will take longer for the soft parts to loosen up, like I stated earlier there is no such thing as breaking in a subwoofer.

Glad to hear, guess i was wrong. Makes me feel even better about Fi

Really no such thing as breaking in a sub, yes the subwoofers soft parts loosen up over time. On some subs it takes longer then others. Play the sub within it's limits and enjoy my friend.

Christmas came early -
Its economics really, if they would replace all cosmetically damaged subs they ship out then the overall price per woofer would increase. Unless their is a major flaw with the driver, a small chip on the magnet is not considered a major flaw regardless of price.

I doubt there is much they can say or do, shit happpens. What?! Believe me man im not trying to be a dick, just looking at it from my perspective thats all. In my eyes its not like the sub is damaged or not working. Thats why i say there isnt much i can see Fi doing, i doubt they would build you a new sub or offer a discount. Just my .02, but we will see.
