Need some electrical advice for my first big (to me) build
jcarter1885 replied to EddieC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you have a battery in the rear then ground amps to the battery. -
Oh know you wanna admit your at fault. You came in the thread making it seem like Fi has a problem with their subs. We dont let stuff slide in here, we ge to the point and some people cant take it. Sorry but it is what it is. I would build a new box before buying another recone before the same thing happens months from now. Obviously your gains werent set correctly or this thread wouldnt have been started. We did help you we told you no on the PSI recone, you just didnt like the way we helped you. Good day man

2001 camaro 5k amp ?
jcarter1885 replied to antoinez28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Not a major difference between the two, so just flip a coin and buy one. Simply put which ever one you prefer due to size constraints, budget, cosmetics and etc. Its not like you will hear the difference between the two or one is gonna be far more superior then the other. -
Just because a coil is rated for 3000 rms thermally does not dictate how much power it can take under its current conditions (enclosure size, amp settings, headunit settings, etc.). Just because you see people having issues with drivers does not mean the drivers are the issue. As there are plethora of people running them without problems. Give us more background info on your setup and maybe we can help address and issues if any.

Sounds more like user error. Psi recone being better for a Fi sub is hilarious, naw man stick with Fi for a recone.

What do you think this electrical could support?

Hard to say without letting us know how much the cars electronics will eat some of that 370amp alternator. -
To max out XCON or to underpower a ZCON?
jcarter1885 replied to slim142's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I would just find a sub that will require a 4 ohm load. If you wont even upgrade the wire and/battery then dont even use that amp at 2 ohms. If you plan on doing upgrades then yes 2 ohms is fine. No point in buying equipment just to half ass it cause your electrical cant maintain. Makes no sense to me but to each its own -
wondering if crescendo going to have a black friday
jcarter1885 replied to antoinez28's topic in Crescendo Audio
That does not dictate success lol, car audio is full of people who want the lowest price or budget item regardless of customer service. But to each its own and by no means am I saying they have subpar products either so dont take it out of context. -

I doubt you'll get a response from them on here, they never use this foum. Plus i wouldnt give Crescendo my money even if the did have a sale. -
But won't I need a crossover?Yes they would plus i forgot you're channels 3&4 are occupied with the substage. But for future reference mini dsp's are inexpensive compared to processors/active capapble headunits and can make running active a breeze from my understanding. Just need a laptop to set up. If you one day wanted to go the raw drivers route.

For $100 just pick a pair, it wont really matter. You wont find a good pair that will outperform another set at that price, they will all be lackluster. You could get two SilverFlutes W17rc38 mids for 70 bucks and some vifa or dayton tweets off parts-express for around 20-30 bucks. These will more than likely put any $100 comp set to shame. Just an example.

Like previously stated tuning with a DMM is not that effective. Hopefully no boost was used on amp or h/u.
-
We cant tell you if wires came loose in your box, take the sub out and inspect it. Measure the terminals with a DMM. All the questions you asked you are gonna have to troubleshoot yourself to find out, we cant guess at whats wrong without more info. Amp settings? Headunit settings?

Budget, mounting locations, etc.

How much port area you using.

I rarely have luck selling boxes man to be honest with you, even at low ass prices. I usually just give them away and chalk it up as another car audio loss. When it comes to online/internet only brands it becomes harder to sell because most people never heard of them. It took me almost 3 months to sell my pair of IA Lethal Injection 12s and enclosure. The dude himself even said i cant beleive it was on Craigslist that long, people didnt know what they were missing. One last thing ive noticed when selling equipment period to move it fast sometimes you gotta price it lower than what you first ask for. Just my .02

How does it sound so far?
-
If they block frequencies at 8 ohms then put a crossover before you add the wires rogether and drop the load. It would be hard for a crossoveer rated at 8 ohms to effectively work at 2ohms. 4 super tweeters is a waste, 2 will be more than adequate.

Lately the port plate seems to be the way to get the best results witn 4th orders. Wish i could hear this thing.
