How Much Do You Throw At Your XCONs? (Daily)
jcarter1885 replied to Tyrell Wilson's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You guys didnt know running over rated power and real low ohm loads is the new hype in car audio. But like stated earlier if you have to ask then dont bother. -
Tuned in. I been trying to get SI to make a HT15, I also seen they are bringing the Magv3 back.

Crossover help
jcarter1885 replied to bluelaser's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Keep up is subjective, vocal wise you shouldnt have a problem. You wont find any midbass to keep up with 2 12s if you really rail on them. Going from 12 inch subs producing bass and trying to use a 6.5" or 8" to make your midbass as loud is not really possible. But my SB Acoustics mid vs an Eminence Alpha was almost neck and neck, Eminence was a little louder(considering it was meant for midrande duty) but the SB Acoustics was a well rounded speaker and didnt mind 60/80hz crossover point. The Eminence would fall flat on its face in this department. I wouldnt buy them just off my recommendation or any speakers yet for that matter. You will need to work on current equipment and get your doors together first or any install is gonna be lacking including good speakers. -

I enjoyed my SilverFlute 6.5" driver but like my SB Acoustics SB17NRX35-4 better. Vifa makes good tweeters as well as SB Acoustics and HDS among other brands. Places to shop and look at active drivers are as follows: madisoundspeakerstore.com (placed an order there Thursday myself) usspeaker.com parts-express.com I actually had the Crescendo FT-1 tweeter and didnt like it, just my preference. I enjoyed my Selenium super tweeters over both types of the Crescendo super tweeters. But being able to hear more from tweeters was a concern and lead me to an efficient pair of soft dome tweeters and haven't looked back sense. -
But why would you want too, defeats the whole purpose of the amp. I know i have heard where some amps dont like loads that high but honestly doubt anyone has tested these amps to see as it would be pointless.

I definitely wouldnt do a three way with it being your first time going active. If not having midbass now is a problem then treat your doors first go from there. Adding equipment wont make it better and you will npt get midbass from pa speakers unless you port them. If just going for loud and want your front stage to keep up with your subs then pa speakers might be for you but there are better choices. Some go with the under dash horns and some high efficient 6.5", 8" or 10" drivers. You try a 3"/4" full range speaker from Faital Pro and get an efficient 6.5", 8" driver. There are plenty of options but giving speaker recommendations without knowing your goals or correcting current install is irrelevant. Sound can be subjective as well, what I like you may not and vice versa. -

Either a mini-dsp or active capable amplifier will do, mini dsp will be a better option as it has more features. If you want a simplier solution then check out an active capable headunit such as the Pioneer 80PRS or Clarion CZ-702. I would switch up my speaker choices as well, PWX and FT-1s are not even the best choice for pa speakers and no speakers are needed in the rear either. Put that money into your front door speakers and whatever else is needed. -
Less talking, more pictures. : Less rudeness, more nude pics of gf Deal if you up your car audio knowledge, sucks you dont get to see nude girls in reality.

I thought I broke it down and the math above would of been enough but I guess not (above I used surface diameter as an example but I will take it furher). If one 12" has the cone area of 113.1 and one 18" has the cone area of 254.47, then do some math and it will show you how he came up with two 18"s having more cone area than four 12"s.Of course i did the exact size of the woofer 12" vs 18" instead of the actual cutout size or actual size of cone area. But all that is irrelevant as the numbers still speak for themselves. But lets not clutter up his thread, there are plenty of topics over the web discussing this.

A Jay-cee you gonna be at slamology this year.. No i will not but im in Arlington, Tx all day everyday. I dont wanna date just throwing simple advice out there, take it or leave it. When I fiirst came to this forum I had 23 speakers in my car, 20 minus the subs and I learn the hard way you could be louder or just as loud and sound better on less equipment.

Are you saying if you ran 2 18"s you will have more cone area than if you ran 4 12's ?Yes and he is correct, two 18"s equal to 2420cm^2 and four 12"s equal to 1920cm^2. So you think four 12" Zcon's will net lest output than 2 18"s ?haha, that wasnt your first question. Its irrelevant considering he is planning on four 18"s total, just two now till he gets his two other recones later.

Four 18"s in a van sound more appealing than four 12"s but that's just me.

With horns the 4" Faital Pro's will be useless and wont really affect output in a good way, spend that money elsewhere. I wouldnt bother with rear door speakers either. Set it up correctly and front doors plus horns will be all you need .

Where is the party at? Happy Birthday man.

Eric Stevens is back with Oncore Audio, horns will be updated as well as a list of other products. I cant wait, guess iIl hold out on 8" mids for the moment.
