    Tuning Boxes

No it shouldnt since it is still the same length as the port needed, you will just have to make sure that you subtract how much of the port that is in the enclosure to have the accurate internal enclosure specs to get the port tuned where it needs to be.

    Keep up with the bass

I understand where you are coming from but most people on this forum will tell you just to have a bomb ass front stage with a good amout of power (which is the right way if you want an accurate and properly stage speaker set up), but honestly its what you want to do and if you feel that is comfortable to have a loud interior set-up like me then you just have to bite the bullet on accuracy or anything else that will come with more speakers. I know a lot of midranges will do the trick, Im using Eminence Alpha-6c with no tweeters right now and there good enough to get the job done and get loud. I also have the Eminence Alpha-6a's for sale (they are the 8 ohm version and I have 8 available PM if interested after researching and looking around) but dont get me wrong their is plenty of other stuff out there that will get the job done. Check out Mach 5 Audio mli-65 on SSA.com (store) or madisound.com, parts-express.com for speaker selections.

    Enclosure for 12" BTL

Oh, sorry ported (vented) , i got those specs straight from their website but i done a search and found posts saying that they like more space than that What do you want it ported to, what type of music do you listen to and what amp will be used in this application? Audioque 2200d, 32hz, and a lil of everything but mostly rap/hip hop I would make the box 2.5 ft^3 @ 32 Hz and stay within what FI reccommended but Im pretty sure you could go bigger but I wouldnt go to much bigger, what are you trying to build it at?

Wanting some more advice on h/u settings since I went active recently: Front High Pass Filter @ Through Hz (40 - 220Hz) Rear High Pass Filter @ Through Hz (40 - 220Hz) Subwoofer Low Pass Filter @ Through Hz (50 - 160Hz) Loud @ Off Subwoofer Level @ -15 (goes from -15 to 15) Bass Level @ 0 (-8 to 8) / Bass Center Frequency @ 80Hz (40 - 150Hz) / Bass Q Factor @ 2.00 (1.00 - 2.00) / Bass Extend @ Off Middle Level @ 3 (-8 to 8) / Middle Center Frequency @ 1,500Hz (500 - 2000Hz) / Middle Q Factor @ 2.0 (1.0 - 2.0) Treble Level @ 6 (-8 to 8) / Treble Center Frequency @ 10,000Hz (10,000 - 17,500Hz) Sundown SAX-125.2 2 Eminence Alpha-6c/channel - Low Pass Filter Setting / Range x10 / Low Pass Frequency @ 5,000Hz / Subsonic Filter @ 150Hz or better (Temporary Subwoofer Amp) 3 Kicker CVX 12"s @ 1.33333 ohms - Low Pass Filter Setting / Low Pass Frequency @ 80HZ / Subsonic Filter @ 20 - 25Hz Mainly I want everyone to focus on my headunit settings and I threw the amps and speakers info in there so you will know whats being controlled and how. I was thinking that If I had my system on active then it would be harder for all these features to control individual drivers. For example when I was driving today I was messing around with the Treble Level and turned up to 8 and down to -8 and noticed that it still affected my Eminence's kinda curious to how that worked into play (Im guessing since it is on low pass on the amp it is still sending those frequencies to that subwoofer but not sure so any help or understanding would be much appreciated.)
  6. My first question when you change the bass level, middle level and treble level it controls all speakers including the ones on the amp? The levels go from -8 to 8, right now I have the bass at -6 (usually its at -8), the middle at 4 and the treble at 8. How do you tailor made these settings. My second question is the bass level has a Bass F(40-120hz, I keep it at 40hz), Bass Q(1.00-2.00, I keep it at 2.00) and Bass Extend (off/on, I keep it on). Could anybody explain what these settings should be around or what they mean (I know bass F is frequency) or if I should even mess with them? My third question is the middle level has a Middle F (500-2,000hz, I keep it at 500hz ), Middle Q (1.0/2.0, I keep it at 2.0).Could anybody explain what these settings should be around or what they mean (I know middle F is frequency) or if I should even mess with them? My fourth question is the treble level has a Treble F (10,000-17,500hz, I keep it at 17,500hz). Now I know it controls the trebble frequency but I dont understand how it will affect every speaker in my system, please explain? I also dont understand what is the point of setting the crossovers on the amp if we have all the features on the radio, are the ones on the amp overridden or are the settings from the radio overridden? I dont want to set the bass level to high and ruin my tweeters or mid-range speakers, i dont want to turn the middle level up and ruin my subs or tweeters with the frequncy range or change the treble level and run to high of a frequency to my mids or subwoofers. I guess Im looking for a tutorial on how the crossovers on the amp and radio either help or cancel each other and what are some recommended settings? any opinions or knowledge is more than appreciated

What to use with Image Dynamics Horns?

Honestly nobody can answer that question can this get louder than this setup (or give you the best and accurate answer because their are to many variables). Sometimes you just gotta find what you want and if its not loud enough for you add on or upgrade what you have (thats what car audio is about upgrading till you have what you want). I would go with the horns and a nice mid-range and if thats not enough for you then step up to a three-way setup or buy you some speakers with a high sensitivity, take a lot of power and good amp. There is a dude on here that has 4-15 xcons and look at his buil I think he has a three way in his doors, ask him he will be able to guide you in what will be loud enough or close to for your setup. Do you know who? Naw but I definantly gave you enough information for you to go find out who it is, look through build logs or pound that sound because I know thats where his enclosure is from. Search around on the forum it wont hurt.

    Epicenter 160?

It does both of those really well, it will increase your SPL and help you clip your amp if your not careful. I only use my epic-160 at low volumes when I want to make some bass appear on a song or on a song that has no bass like old school. Dont use the epic-160 on a song that already has bass especially at medium to high volumes because it can cause your woofers to reach maximum excursion and beyond which will kill the subwoofers. If used safely its a good tool but I just use mine for the voltage read out and tweking purposes such as moving stuff around and see if I gained any dbs (but the mic isnt accurate from my understanding, so dont go thinking thats what you will hit on a TL meter).

Will this be a good set up?

x2, get the dual 1 ohm subs and wire them in series up to 2 ohms each and they will see a final load of 1 ohm(the saz1500d is one ohm stable so you will be set).
  10. jcarter1885

    finally! my install

You gotta post videos, how does this setup treat you? I was thinking about putting 2-12" XCONS on my 2000D also, what size enclosure and what is it tuned to?

    more speakers

Yea wus up i would like to hear the words i would like for it to be crystal clear but at the same time i dont want to lose any bass because it does pound. Thanks for any help or suggestions I would take those 6x9's out and sell them, go buy you some tweeters to go upfront with those 6.5" polks and if that doesnt help then its time to upgrade the 6.5" speakers. what would u upgrade with and if i take the 6x9 out do i replace them with anything or just leave the holes empty also i did order some horns i being hearing good things about them. thanks for all of your help leave them open, lets the bass get into the cabin better. put grills over the holes if there exposed (makes it look like there is a speaker there but there really isn't) Thanks for everything so what do u think about the horns i order a set of them. thanks The horms will be perfect, they get loud and cover a nice range of frequencies (dont be mad if you polk's wont hang with them). enjoy

    95 ford probe dd3515 install

Yeah it could be those reasons, but it is mainly because the box was in a open area(in suv) while the box is trying to push sound from the trunk to the cabin(in probe). Just my .02

What to use with Image Dynamics Horns?

I would say go mid-bass with them since they do great at a bie width of frequencies, I ruled out against getting them since my Eminences are mid-range and are pucking loud ass balls so Im gonna to find some good tweeters. Just my .02

    Removing speakers from rear deck

have you done this yet? Yes I have noticed where my car lacks bass at but its not a biggie ( I do listen to rap, r&b and old school r&b with some Citizen Cope here and there). Yeah I know videos are worthless for viewing performance just wanted to see what they could potentially offer sound wise (I do know that people use different power ranges and frequency levels and every install is different). I appreciate you correcting me about what mid-basses do, what you said was a better way of what I was trying to say (my mind said what you did but my typing it out was off). Im gonna save the mid-bass Idea for another install in the future and Im set on mid-ranges and tweeters as my front stage, Thanks Lithium your the man with quick and logical responses.

    (6) Mayhem 15's and (6) 40.1's

Damn that sucks since I never made it out there to see the truck first hand, Im sure you wont need any help but I would love to see whats next and be a on-looker or even if you need me to just hand you items or hold them in place while you install and secure Im your man (wanna see how the big boys do it since I never built or installed a monster system before).

    Removing speakers from rear deck

I was thinking about running some Mach 5 Audio mli-65 in my set-up but not really sure if I want them, I see decent reviews on them but cant really see any videos to show off some performance. I really have been doing some heavy thinking and just cant come up with a reason to have mid-bass in the car if you got your subs playing all the time, I need some one with a 2-way or 3-way system to tell me how the mid-basses play a roll in the sound of your system (I know they allow you to get bass at frequencies where your sub cant extend or sound good at that level). I only view having a good mid-bass system in a car if you dont plan on putting subs in the car, but I know people will disagree with me (in my opinion if I didnt have subs I would have a lovely 3-way system but since I dont see me riding around without my subs so I dont see the point of mid-basses). Since I want some loud interior speakers Im guessing that mid-basses wont get loud like mid-ranges since their not design for that (their designed for bass at higher frequencies than what your sub can handle). In my case would it be applicable (not what you would do, if anyone would answer this), when my volume is low my subs are crossed at I believe 80HZ and they throw some small bass out like I have mid-bass speakers in the rear deck and I have an epic-160 to throw pull some bass out my subs when playing at low volumes also. Thankx for any input.

Help with 3 Way Front Stage

Yeah I luv how loud and clear my Eminence Alpha's but I was thinking the same thing, drop my midranges since Im getting a pair of horns and just run some mid-basses with them.

    Sundown SAE-1200D v.2 Pre-Sale OPEN

You pay for the amp now and you dont get it till the Presale is over usually when Jacob gets them in his hands. Its just a way to reserve you an amp (pay a great low price) and get one right away so in case their all sold out, you got one.

    Removing speakers from rear deck

Yeah thats what I did but Ill do it again today and see if I like where I set it at last nite because I think it will stay where it is, man I really do appreciate you.
  24. Yeah I have the same problem with my amps and my car is all black with tint so I know what you mean, honestly I just try not to push my system that hard in the day time neither. When I get in the car the amps are already hot to touch, so I just ride with my seats down and the a/c on higher then usually to give the amps a little more cooler environment and at nite when its cooler the windows are down and thats usually the best solution for the heat but you cant play it loud so it gives and takes. Im just going to take an approach the cover my trunk lid, rear deck with dampening and some type of heat insulation (the same thing Im gonna do with my hood since my engine gets extra hot and causes some extra voltage droppage (by .1-.3 volts during the day since my cars gauge reads 110 degrees) but at nite Im good. I got alot of work to get done to the car to block out heat since next summer will be exactly the same but worse.

    Removing speakers from rear deck

x2, I was about to say the same thing if they have grills leave them and if not, go buy some grills or find a cheap solution to cover up the holes (Im sure you can since your in car audio. But Im definantly not tripping about thread jacking since its about the same topic and I would suggest that you take the rear deck speckers out there will be a nice sound difference but nothing to do back flips over (just more bass in the cabin, those 6x9's are being drowned out by those subs anyways). M5, one more quick question since me and you are both agreeing with the fact that Eminence Alpha-6C's are more mid-range should I keep the settings on my amp the same so I wont ruin the spakers (LPF Filter x10 @ 5,000Hz and Sub Sonic 150Hz or better)? Or would they benefit more on High Pass? I had the sub sonic filter around 80-100Hz and didnt like that so last nite I bumped it up some and it sounds better with less strain on the speakers.
