IXL 12" Sub... Need help picking an enclosure!
jcarter1885 replied to southpawprof's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
fallen is the man, and so are you! awesome. I'll get started on this tonight. I just have to figure out where to buy the carpeting. Go to a fabric store, autozone or walmart to find you some carpet, parts-express.com also has some fabric for sale. -
You dont really understand i payed a really low price for them and if i return them and pay a restocking fee it might come close to what i payed for them.. but whatever people don't really think.. and no price isnt an issue Yeah I guess he wanted to come in here like some people acting like they know it all, but just check on ebay.com / onlinecarstereo.com/ sonicelectronix.com or The For Sale Section on this forum to see if someone is selling a pioneer amp and the SSA Store:(http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/categories/Amplifiers/Pioneer/).

x2, but I usually hear my ear's beeping or ringing every now and then. My problem is I can barely hear words and when talking to people I hear what I want to hear instead of what their saying, but on the other hand I can hear all kinds of sounds whether there faint or loud.
-
x2, thats what I got from his answer about the speakers (I know their not the best or what anyone on her would use but he already bought them). I suggest you use those speakers and finish your system how you want and if you dont like the performance of those drivers, sell them and switch them out with Pioneer's components that they offer.
-
When someone says they have no budget typically it means that they have money to spend and price wont be an issue to get what they want.

I am using 2 15's right now in my truck, they are a good solid driver for sure. I run 1500 to 1600 watts to each of the Mayhems, I daily drive it that way and have never had any problems. You can put a lot more to them of course but i daily drive a 153 on that amount of power. So I do recomend these subs. they are very loud at very low hz. Are your Mayhems sealed or ported, if ported at what frequency?
-
No one can answer that with a 100% honestly but this is what will help you out: Big Three done in 1/0 gauge or bigger wire, good starting battery and good secondary battery and get a voltmeter to watch your voltage. I dont think a Hifonics BXI2010D will draw that much power to make you need more than what is listed above but that will be determined once you get this installed and going. A high output alternator may not be needed depending on how your voltage is, if your voltage drops a lot then one is needed but if its stays stable with small drops then you wont need one.

Glad you could join us and hopefully we can share car audio wisdom.

right now im just wanting to put some bump in my truck, then around Christmas i will have money to get like a 4 channel amp and then new interiors all around with tweeters. im looking to pay no more than 750 for my sub(s), and no space is not a problem. Well there are a lot of options out their for you: 2-15" SSA ICON's / FI BL's / DC Level 4's / Incrimator Audio Death Row / Soundsplinter Rl-p's / Ascendant Audio Havocs / Sundown Z-15's(on sale right now if you want them) or 1 18" SSA XCON / FI BTL / Ascendant Audio Mayhem / Sundonw Nightshade / DC Level 4 XL. There are lot of options out there but if you want to stick to FI only then I would look into either 1 18"BTL as stated or 2-15" BL's. Choice is yours and any option would do you justice in a well-built enclosure, just my .02.

Ok the most that amp will put out rms wise is 2000watts (if that, some say their underrated and others say their overrated but were not discussing that at this moment), that amp will be ok with an 18" FI BTL or 2 15" FI BL's. What other equipment will be in this car's install? Whats your budget on what you want to spend for a subwoofer? What is the max space you have to work with, you said you have a trail blazer so space should not be that much of a problem?

one, two, or three subs for 12-1500 watts
jcarter1885 replied to maddmatt02's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
x2, from what was read in your first post a single 15" FI BL with BP Power and 1000-1500 rms will do you justice; I would of recommended 2 FI SSD 12"s but you said your not an SQ guy and want to get loud. just my .02 -
Number #1 their is no Hifonics Brutus Amp that can dish out 4000watts, whats the exact model number of amp you have so people can answer your questions better?

Hey thanks for all your responses. Yes well right now I currently have a system very modest as it just alpine type-r components front and rear with Alpine PDX 4x150W. and Alpine V12 and 1 JL Audio only 300W. I have done the big 3. Stock alt right now. I have had 0 gauge power wire ran to a a 5 farad capacitor and a distribution block in the rear, had this done in anticipation for this upgrade. I also have an optima yellowtop in their right now but I was gonna get a 2nd once I put this amp in. Yes I was gonna have someone else make the box and wire them up for me that is correct, I just want to make sure that I'm buying the right stuff before I go ahead and have it done. Will the sundown 3500 be enough for two 12" BTL's? or do I need more power than that to do them justice? Thanks Well from the sound of it in your case I would stay with the SAZ-3500d, you could get the SAZ-4500D on presale right now would do also but in the wrong hands it will be reak havoc on your subs with the headroom. Get rid of the cap also, buy another yellowtop and get an High Output Alternator.
-
Im sorry but that was too easy, I though someone would of beat me while I was typing it and checking the amps page on sundown just to be sure.
-
That 6000Rms is if you get 2 SAZ-3500D and strap them together and the final ohm load will be 2 ohms(each amp is at 1 ohm). If you get 2 Dual 2 ohms subs, you will need an amp that is 0.5 ohm stable or 2 ohms stable. If you get 2 Dual 1 ohm subs, you will need an amp that is 1 ohm stable and 4 ohms stable.

15" Death Row enclosure, in a Honda Fit hatchback
jcarter1885 replied to Zach Gates's topic in Incriminator Audio
No trust me I understand what your saying and completely agree. But after reading you had a port problem(it became wider or narrower), the box needed more caulk in some areas more than other(may lead to leaks). Remember the box will be what makes or breaks this install and how well it performs or sounds thats all Im saying so eventually that 30 or 40 dollars will go along way (if you do build another box just build it and dont waste that 10dollars on covering it until you know its the box you will be keeping). Just my .02 -

jcarter1885 replied to Zach Gates's topic in Incriminator Audio
Yeah your just one step closer, I would suggest since you have the time to build another box and make this one accurated and better than the first one. -
What other equipment will be in this install? What amps will power these subs? Have you done any electrical upgrades to your vehicle?

KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks Kable
jcarter1885 replied to hondafreek's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just curious if upgrading wire will be beneficial or waste of time and money. I have Kicker Hyperflex 1/0 wire for my Big Three and system wiring from battery to distribution blocks. At a local stereo shop this dude was telling me about the Audison MP1/0 wire (http://www.connectionaudison.com/products/cables/mp_10bl.htm) and how its better than my Kicker 1/0 wire. The Audison is $15 a foot and I get the Kicker for $7 a foot, so then I started looking at the KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks Cable and wondering if anybody can break down the difference if any (I already know that the KnuKoncepts and Audison has more strands of wire but it that always a plus)? Thankx -
my buddys sub is making a noise help

Tell ya boy to check out the Sundown Audio SA-12"s(600RMS), some Incriminator Lethal Injections 12"(600RMS) or the SSA DCONS 12"s(300RMS) subs also on the http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/. -
Good luck on the install and Im tuned in.

Glad I bought my SAZ-2000D instead of an AQ2200 like planned, cant wait till you get one in to do a comparison.

Okay i was wrong on size of the box. Is is 32X30X15 so thats 8.3 CUFT before displacement and ports. Is that still real small> Well how big is the box after displacement (ports, subs and bracing) and we can go from there to tell you if the box is to small but we will see. If the box's height is 15", width is 32" and depth is 30" then yeah this box might be on the small side because just with those numbers and sub displacemnt your already at 6.47ft^3 and thats not counting port area. I say rebuild the box for those two 15"s to get the most output from them, what are your max dimensions that you have to work with?

i have a nice HU right now. I just really want an f90bt(pioneer premier). It just a coin toss decision on which i should buy first. if i buy the HU first I can use it with my old subs for a while, if i buy the amp/sub first i can use it with my current HU(kenwood excelon kcd-x692, friend is letting me borrow indefinitely). Either way I'm gonna be happy. My original plan was to buy the HU first, but if i get paid enough soon, I'm gonna take advantage of some of the deals. ex. Audibel Customs free box w/sub deal, Sundown's presale deal on SAE-1200d, etc. If I don't have the cash before these sales end, I'll probably buy my new HU first. Keeping electricity, cable and water at the house is more important than the audio in my car. That's why it will take a couple of paychecks(maybe even a month or 2 per part) Basement?????LOL Baton rouge is south Louisiana. LSU has a few building with basements on hills, but most of the state is at or below sea level. Myself and a few friends will be doing the installs. We can do it individually by ourselves, but we like to get together and take too long, forget parts, and curse at vehicle panels. We do good work, but it always takes longer than expected. Oh well, that is the fun part for me. i enjoy installing stuff Im understand your situation and just like you when it comes to car audio, I buy in sections and install what I can when I can. But if you want to get rid of the radio and give it back to your friend then get the H/U because sundown is going to have the amp on presale for some months and still at a reasonable price when it comes out. By what will please you first and get your system going in the direction you want (if you buy your subs and amp right now remember box, wires, terminals, connectors, fuses and whatever else will be needed to complete the install just to listen to it). Maybe once you start working me and getting more hours you may be able to up your budget on sub and amp, who knows?

It was dumb to throw 2-15"s in that small enclosure(no offense). You will get louder with one 15 or 2-12"s in that enclosure, your choking the life out of those 15"s.
