If that $350 is just for the subs then you can look at one 12" or 15" BL or you can get one 15" SSD or possible two 12" SSD's (if you increase your budget slightly). Its all up to you, but these subs will cost more money for a box and the electrical to back that up (so hopefully you have some more duckies for that also).

biggest newbie question ever please help
jcarter1885 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Seriously man what do you think, I honestly beat you can answer both of these questions without our help. Why would two subs wired to an amp that only puts out 1200rms now all of a sudden does 2400 just because of the number of subs you have. How many people use a Mono Subwoofer amp and have more than one sub on it. Please do some research before asking question, even try to google because these answers on the internet too. -
Thanks man, it will be awhile before everything will be done but I thought this is a great time to start the build log.

Glad you could join us , first of all that 3ft^3 is only after sub displacement (you still will have to factor in port displacement too, which is going to make the box even smaller). If you cant fit what you need then dont do it since it will be a waste of money and time, I would go with the 12"s so they can get all their required space. Just my .02

Not at all, people nowadays dont do things cause they want to but they want to look cool to their peers and others. Kinda stupid if you ask me, but to each its own.

Yeah try and post this equipment on here also. I posted my equipment on here and craigslist.com and had better look selling my mainstream stuff on craigslist.com while I noticed other people with nonmainstream things getting sold easily on this site.

Bigger box vs. slightly smaller box...
jcarter1885 replied to Don Ganso's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
That box will be fine as long as it is well built, the amp will do until you get something else just make sure your sending your sub clean signals and not clipped ones. Just my .02 and good luck with install and dont forget to post pictures. Pictures on SSA = -
Great choice on Sundown Audio Amps, you wont be upset!
-
Well first of all the SSA Xcon doesnt even belong on that list, not saying it wont get loud just designed for a different crowd. But since you want loud go with either the Re or DC but its a toss up man, just purchase one and test and then do the same for all three. That way you will know which is the loudest in your car, in your istall (since installs, equipment and cars are different); what may be louder in someones car may not be louder in your car.

Yeah my info is dont do it, just save up the money to get what you want that will last and give out the power it is supposed to. Just my .02 -
I wouldnt run them at 0.66 ohm load, but that is all up to you man.

It depends on your listening preferences but it wont that big of a difference between 34hz and 32hz, since you dont have either one built to compare you wont notice. If thats all you can fit then go for it or go smaller if the tuning is to high for you. That tuning should be fine since it says on the tech page that BL 10"s can be tuned from 30-37hz. Hope this helps.

Why, why, why? If you want to take the risk and damage your amp then go ahead. Nobody knows how it will react or how long it will last, if it will be successful forever or fail at start (every install is different). But if the amp says 1 ohm stable then why go lower than what is recommended just because it can do it, if you have to money to blow then I say go for it. I would just buy the amp that gives you the power you need at 1 ohm. Just my .02

Good luck with this and keep up updated. Hope all goes well or isnt too bad on your end.

Yeah, that's a good point. He should still probably use a DMM to find his limit though. A DMM wont really help becuase he can still do wrong by them if he doesnt know how to notice when a speaker is stressing. OP find what is in your budget and what you prefer from speakers (midbass, midrange and tweets) and we can help you from there. Describe what attributes you want from each of your speakers and we can go from there.
-
Yeah, I was just thinking it would be better to get some speakers that could handle more power. In someones case who cant listen, hear or smell signs of stressing then yeah it may be logical to match or come close to speakers rms range when purchasing an amp for them or vice versa. But if your smart about the gain and volume then I dont see a problem with the OP running those speakers on that amp.

Haha everyone hates my Cowboys I see, its ok we will prevail. No, the Cowboys will not prevail until they can get offensive linemen that are smarter than an IKEA coffee table. Giving more plays to Barber, Crayton, and Whitten would help a bunch too. I do agree with you on most of that, I think they need to let Barber rest and use the other two backs since you can tell he his not 100%.

There is no reason to be a dick. I never said I wasn't willing to wait. I just asked how long it usually takes. That is only for the BTLs. I ordered an SSD. Nobody is being a dick, its gets ridiculous how many useless topics like this we see everyday. If you would use the search feature your questioned could have been answered without making this topic. Stop getting emotional dude, its just words (keep your emotions inside, thats a females trait).
-
, please give out more information. Whichever one you can afford and fits within your power needs. Either one will do your system justice, one amp per sub or one amp for both subs?
