All that depends on vehicle, install and how good the box is. Nobody can really tell you its all install dependent but they do get loud from my understandning, you wont be upset with them. Check out Sound Solutions Audio thread and read reviews on them.

Welcome to the club man, everybody has been done wrong by local shops. That is why I dont mess with them at all besides listening to productsa and buying little small accessories. Sorry it had to happen to you but that headunit could have been damaged from taking it out installing it or anything. That is why I try not to buy used because you never know the abuse it was put through before you got it, regardless of who gave it to you.

I just met a member on this site who stays in my area who has tools so a box for this puppy may be here before you know it. Eventually sometime in the future I may get Thumper or Fisher Customs to make me an enclosure for it just because there designs are sick (depends if this sub is a keeper or not but I think it will be).

Yeah now that you said something and it is house wiring which is not good in car audio. Correct me if Im wrong but from my understanding the reason why house wire strands are so thick is because the current flows in the strands. Whereas in car audio the current flows around the outside of the strands. I had a two friends who messed up their amps using this wire, not only was it hard to work with too. You might want to get you some welding wire (weldingsupply.com or weldingdepot.com).

I will be very careful next time I will need some answers here. Thumper sells these amps and is just starting to use them. oh no no no loud exhaust is a no no in the real tunner world you cann have an upgraded exhaust but if it sounds like a tin can you better walk. Most believe that if your not running under 13 seconds there is no reason not to have a quite exhaust. You maybe thinking of the "ricers" with big fart can exhaust going like 5mph naa not us lol.... Sometimes is not what you want but what you can fit in its right enclosure. Go measure the max dimensions you have to work with and then we can tell you what will be best for your car.

That is not sealed off at all, putting towels between is not sealing off the trunk from the cabin. That box looks small, what is the dimensions of that enclosur, what is it tuned to? I think the enclosure and the way you have it setup are the reasons why it doesnt sound how you want it.
