new altenator mybe???
jcarter1885 replied to lmxd5120's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
get you a 4 gauge wiring kit and you should be fine since you dont plan on upgrading anything. I would also suggest you get some 1/0 wiring so you can do the BIG 3 Wiring, that will definantly help your voltage out alot. BIG 3 Wiring: 1. Alternator Bolt or Engine Block to Car's Frame 2. Battery Negative to Car's Frame 3. Battery Positive to Alternator Positive For the wiring, check out KnuKonceptz.com for excellent wire for good prices (you can git 4 gauge kit and 1/0 awg for Big 3 here). -
Before anybody gives you any advice, go measure your trunk and tell us what are your max dimensions for an enclosure (height x width x depth). Second yeah an 18" does look cool if it sounds good too, if your doing it just for looks and not performance then I wouldnt do it but it is up to you and your money. The best bet is to see what we can fit in your trunk and go from there, a 15" in the optimal box will sound better than an 18" in a cramped box. Yes you are going to need to upgrade your electrical or you wont have the power to get your amp going.

new altenator mybe???

I would at least get a 50AH (amp hour) battery or so to help out with the system. Do you plan on adding anymore amplifiers to the car? -

Dont get a capacitor, just get you a nice size secondary battery and you will be ok. What car and what size stock alternator do you have, the will really help us answer your question accurately? -
No problem man, that is what Im here for (to share the limited knowledge I do have on things).
-
, I didnt even notice it at first when it was up and running.
-
I care how my 15" sounds in a ported enclosure.
-
Honestly it depends on the subs and if they are the same brand, plus a whole lot of other things.
-
One that is recommended for these subs, did you even go and look up what they give for enclosure specs? If so what are they? What size area do you have available to put an enclosure, give us max dimensions for anybody to be able to help you (length x width x depth).

line driver?

Reading is very fundamental -
x2, but if you still want the BTL that amp will be suitable until you buy another one if you still feel you need another one.

A batcap is a battery with a faster discharging rate, naw a 800 wouldnt be the best battery for your application. Do you plan on adding any more amps in the car? You can only wire your sub two ways: 1 ohm or 4ohms I would choose the 4 ohm load option and yeah the batcap 800 would work under those circumstances but not if you ran it at 1 0hm.

Damn that is tough but that is car audio for ya, either it doesnt want to work out for ya (whether it is one thing or many things). I dont even want to know what they will charge for a replacement cd if you wanted one.
-
Ya I wish my elbow didnt crack my rockford fosgate 3sixty.2 cd. It had like 100 tracks on it with sweeps and whatnot so we could see where this thing started sounding like crap. Just get some sweeps from shizzzon, that is where I got mine from (they are in a link in his signature).

Welcome and glad you could join us

We have tried everything that was mentioned on this thread except for the deadening, and I still have the same problems. There is no mid bass. Damn that is crazy, I put my Eminence Alphas(true midranges) on High Pass Frequency at 30Hz and was getting some midbass from them. Maybe it might be those components after all. Hope you get this figured out ASAP.

amp goes into prot mode if i turn?
jcarter1885 replied to burton907's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Please read the manual next time before installing, they always say to mount your amp before playing especially driving around with it. Why rush the install just to have something to listen to in the short run but now have no bump in the long run, I guess lesson learned. If it is still under warranty I wouldnt open the amp cause that voids the warranty, plus if you dont even know what your doing or how to fix it then opening it wouldnt serve a purpose either. I would contact Jacob or db-r.com and see what they can do for you first. -
Another thing to think about is either raising his budget for a better set of components but some will tell you that it will be hard to find the mid-bass he is looking for in a 6.5" speaker also (not saying that cant do it but a bigger midbass speaker would help with the lack of midbass). What is he looking for from his midbass speakers, just louder midbass?

have fun with and find something that can hold you over for awhile just dont rush something to throw it in there and be unsatisfied with it. -
Santa came early

Damn that looks nasty, hopefully it gets better for you and you can get it fixed.

1. No, an AGM battery can withstand vibrations and such, I had my Xstatic Batcap 800 on my box for 2 years and no problems. 2. Hell yeah a 1500 will be too much for a 8" sub since they are only recommended to do 400rms (common sense), unless all your doing is burping the speaker. For daily that is ridiculous but it also depends if you have a D1 or D2 ohm subwoofer. 3. Yes a second battery is needed if everything in your car is stock.

I have a pair of these audiobahn. They are from an old setup of mine.. I'm not repairing it to use, I'm repairing it to help sell the pair in this box. I've been through multiple setup. But if you still wish to give some opinions, here's my goals and whatnot: much spl, sq isn't a real concern because with as loud as I will be playing, it won't make much difference. I have a 99 pontiac grand am. I'm looking into (for my next install): 1 18" btl 230 amp h/o alt yellow top optima battery big three upgrade You will not be able to fit an 18" in there and it sound right, get the 15" and put it in 5ft^3 and call it a day.
