The only device you should trust when it comes to clipping is an o-scope. It would be wise that if you do see the light on then turn it down.

Crazy Inclosure Idea. Need Pro. suggestions
jcarter1885 replied to ShagggDiesel's topic in Fi Technical
15" in the right enclosure will blow a 18" in a cramped enclosure all day (I guess your going for looks over performance). I would hate to have an 18" sound like shit just to have one when I could get a 15" and do some damage but I guess to each its on. Grand Prix's do not have huge trunks like that. -
*****Chevy Malibu Warden Build!!********

Pics or lies. -
Here it is under the Build Log section Chop, oh yeah it was 4 12"s:
-
I doubt it since they havent even been shipped to customers yet to make that decision.
-
Naw calm down just messing with ya. I see you have changed your mind before so I was just throwing it out there considering I know how hard it is to make a decision on subs (took me three months and it is still temporary).

No problem denim just trying to do my share that is all

Honestly I have no idea either. -
Samson S-Equalizer

Distortion is not the issue. It's the lack of highs and lows, that comes from correcting the distortion. By "clear" i mean, having well defined, crisp highs, well pronounced over the midrange. I like a slightly harsher sound, (not screaming and hissing, assaulting your ears though) I am upgrading the 1" tweeters i have (originally full range drivers from an iHome, initially pair with matching 1" PR's; now using a crossover from a bose set), to either four horns, or four bullet tweeters, when i get the money. Additionally, i am picking up my other bose woofers (higer xmax and sensitivity, plus a really cool translucent plastic dustcap ) to compare to the current one, and later on, a Tang Band 6.5" To have some fun with. Also, somewhere in that time frame, I want to pick up a SAX-50.4 (or an SAE-100.4, whichever is more cost effective (and available) at the time)), which will go in the backpack for now, and in the car later. Edit: Pissed as hell. My gym teacher complained to my dean that me carrying (not necessarily playing) my bag in class was a distraction to others, and an encouragement for others to screw around in class. Knowing that i have the system, they assumed (we all know what they say about assuming), and as a result I am not allowed to even have it in the building, playing or not, or it will be confiscated by the school police liason. Complete f***ing No its not , that is a distraction buddy no matter how you look at and it wouldnt be cool at all. You can even walk around with mp3 players so why would they let you walk around with a mobile soundstation, think about it -
Old School Punch
jcarter1885 replied to dbrown23's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Use manufactures ratings if you wont to keep your amp, thanks? If not then just try it out and let us know if it last or does not last? -
What amp will you have on it? What are your goals? What type of music do you listen to? Those questions answered would be very helpful.
-
You lucky SOB, wish I had one. Where did you get yours and for how much if you dont mind me asking since that is my next major tool to purchase.

What 10" do you have and eye on? You will probably get this off your hands faster in the For Sale section now that you want to sell it. -
You can make a gallery on here and upload them from your gallery using the image tool in the toolbar.
-
Yes you will get a tracking number once they are shipped.
-
Yeah because of the poll was used and a post wasnt.

I doubt it since every sub has a lead time to be built and then have to be shipped out to you, so I wouldnt expect them by Christmas especially since there are orders before yours. Read this:

pheonix gold bass cube
jcarter1885 replied to supaduppaman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
They are doing the same thing boosting the bass in systems, something that is not needed especially not in music these days. If your lacking punch than it is your settings or equipment or install. If you need these then you minus well just use bass boost on amp and head unit, IMO. I only use my epic center when I play at very low volumes and want a little bump (with girl in the car, or younger passengers). It is mainly used for old school music in my applications. -
which way should i face the port and subs for a trunk
jcarter1885 replied to supaduppaman's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
SQ, you can not get SQ(true SQ) with more than thousands of watts; please use another description. For loudest then subs and port facing forward usually but it all comes down to testing , every vehicle and install is different. Please use the search function, this topic has been made about 3 times within this month. -
Big 3 Wiring for better voltage which will decrease drops and increase steady voltage at idle and bumping. You dont replace your wire, you can add on to the existing one's but is up to you if you want to replace them (depending on how simplified or complicated your wiring is such as the positive wire). Depending on the factory wires you have go with 4 gauge or bigger, 1/0 AWG is preferred and recommended especially if you have an HO Alternator. You can fuse the wire between battery and alternator if you want to this is also personal preference (some do just to be safe but if your wiring it right and tight you should be fine without it). I also recommend that you do the ground wires first just to make sure you have enough wire, connectors or whatever to finish the job. 1.) Battery's Negative post to Car's Frame. 2.) Alternator Bolt (that attaches the alternator to engine) or Engine Block to Car's Frame 3.) Battery Positive post to Alternator's Positive Terminal. *** I noticed that if you double up the wire on the battery negative to car's frame it does help out on voltage and not recommended at all just sharing my results from adding a second wire.*** For my Big 3 I did mine like this: 1.) I replaced the 4 guage wire that was on my battery's negative post going to the car's frame. I took out the old wire and added two 1/0 AWG wires. Two runs of 1/0 AWG 2.) I replaced the 4 gauge wire that was on my engine block going to the car's frame. I took out the old wire and added one 1/0 AWG wire. Engine Block Car's Frame 3.) I have not did the wire from battery's positive terminal to alternator's positive terminal yet since my main battery is in the trunk (as you can tell in above pictures). I will get around to upgrading this wire, I will not replace this wire at all. I will just simply add on 1/0 AWG wire when I get an HO Alternator but for now it is fine with the 4 gauge factory wiring.

Almost any sub in the right enclosure will have good SQ, it just comes down to the install. The real question is what are you looking for and what is your budget?

So your gonna throw 2 DC Level 4 XL 15"s in some sealed boxes, why? Can you even fit two in there and still have room for batteries, amps and air flow around the box?
