Hold on before you buy another amp, do you already have one kicker zx750.1? If no lets get a budget that you want to spend on an amp(s).

    spl general question

If that was the case then people would be doing 300-700db's in car audio which doesnt happen. I think the record is 180 something db's, why would people be bragging on 160's if 300 was possible. It is easy to jump from 120 db's to 140db's but after that it start's getting harder and harder to gain db's. If you doubled the power like you said you wanted to then you would possibly gain 3db's but it all depends. Could you please type better also so it will be easier to read and understand, thanks since it is part of the rules.
  3. The question is do you think it is worth it? It is your money that you will be spending, just get whichever one is within your budget and has the features that you want and prefer.

New Setup, Starting from Zero. Tips Welcomed!

Oh ok, so thats what the phase shift is for. Will prob spend time with it after I listen to the amp and how is sounding. The gain, ill do what you are telling me. You are right, 9:00 might be the right setting and 12 would just be too much. I think I'm suppose to set my Bass and Treble to default in my receiver right? After setting the gain, can I use my Bass and Treble settings or am I suppose to leave them always at default? Finally, Im using High-Level Input since Im using factory receiver (just wanted to point this). Somebody mentioned before in this thread that it doesnt matter what kind of connection I use as long as my gain is right, the sound will come out like it should. And about the terminals I meant the power & ground connectors that go into the amplifier. I thought I needed to change those in order to use the Sundown amplifier. But since you said I can use my 4 gauge with the Sundown, I guess all I need to do is disconnect old one, and connect to the new one. I thought you could put 1/0 connectors into 4 gauge cables, but it would require tools to make it fit. Am I wrong? If your amp had 4 gauge terminals on it then yeah you could use a 1/0AWG reducer to 4 guage but since Sundown has 1/0AWG terminals you dont have to worry about that. Yeah all you have to do is unhook your old amplifier and just put the wires into your new amp when it comes.

Nobody is being smart but your taking the info that we are giving you and not using it. Why would you want to run both amps bridged at 4 ohms instead of just using one amp at 1 ohm for both subs. It will be less wire and the same power regardless which way. Changing your subs out for some kicker CVR's would be dumb but CVX's may be a good idea, but listening to them first you may like your Alpines better. Haha and stop getting emotional that is a females trait. I got a good life, if you read the rules you would understand that writing/grammar/spelling/punctuation are all required to be correct so just follow the rules and it also makes it easier to read (it flows much better and doesnt stress the eyes).

    Soundstream T5 (12"or 15")

I know that SPLscion(member on here) runs them or did a build on them, he had 2-15"s in a Scion. So you can ask him if he is still on here.

    install and build pic question

    Not a problem

    ground noise

I had that same problem, the headunit rca's are damaged. Its like right when your amp turns on the sub is playing a continuous bass note non-stop, if so then you need another head unit.

    ground noise

If you have a screeching noise just in your highs then check your grounds and I mean all of them because you either dont have it grounded right somewhere (either system or electrical). Mine was like that too and it took three years to fix it because I notice that the factory grounds didnt have paint shaved off before they were put on and after shaving the paint off the sound went away (plus doing the BIG 3 helped also).

New Setup, Starting from Zero. Tips Welcomed!

Leave the phase at 0 degrees, the knob controls the gain at the level it is at on the amp (maximum to minimum). You will be fine with the 4 gauge wire for now, then when you get some free cash then purchase you some 1/0AWG for the amp later. First I would also suggest that you do the Big 3 ASAP in 1/0AWG wire. Dont use the bass boost on amp or headunit either.

    ground noise

Something in your install is wrong especially the ground if you have a gound noise. Check all your connections: battery ground, amp ground, head unit ground (make sure paint is sanded off the grounding spots also).

Crazy Inclosure Idea. Need Pro. suggestions

Why can't I just cut a big hole in my roof and let it hang in there? Maybe just replace my steering wheel with the sub and free air it.. Talking about "In your face" bass! Please be for real and stay on subject, but by all means do what you want to do its your money, your car and your system. Just let me know when you throw that 18" in there so I can here and

    1 15" xcon or 2 12" icons

What he said ^^. Please add or provide a little more info, because with out knowing any parameters or goals of your install, the only factor we can go on is cone surface and power compression. Daily driver. Rap,r&b, and clasic rock. What is your opinion on doing a 12" xcon and if I want more add a second would have for the 2 12's. Or would a little over 2k wts not do justice for a pair of xcons? Since there is no such thing as underpowering a sub I dont see why not, subs dont need there rms or more than there rms to shine or do there job.

    Best 1/0 Gauge cable

I would go with Kicker Hyperflex, KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks (great price for great wire) or weldingsupply.com if you want good wire at a good price.

    Nightshade 18'' box size/tuning

For daily tuning anywhere from 31-35Hz will do you some justice and for port area usually people go with 12-16 in^2 per cube of internal box volume. For example if your box is 5ft^3 internally after displacements (sub(s), port area and bracing) then you should be between 60-80in^2 or port area. More Dallas people that is what I like to see.
