    Re-doing the Caddy

How much space, tuning frequency and power are you giving it? It should do better than a 137 if everything is up to par, hopefully.

    Nightshade 18'' displacement

Thanks. So im looking at about .5 cubic ft. displacement out of the sub? Just email jacob at [email protected] to get a legit answer or just search through this thread and the other pages. You will find a topic with this information in it also.

If it was that easy to tell you what you are gonna be metering at then it would be no point in a TL Meter, and even harder to guess from by just looking at a video.

    2 fi btl 12s or 15s help

If you have 7 cubes after displacements (subs, port area and bracing) then I would get the 15''s and if that is before displacement then I would go with the 12"s and get ready to blow some shit up. What type of music do you listen to, how do you like your systems to sound?

Why doesnt my Q 12 work?

So I tried the DMM, Left coil read 1.5 ohm. right coil read nothing. Don't know if the DMM was bad or not. The sub is supposed to be dual 1 ohm to get a final load of 2 ohm. Don't know if that helps at all. Looks like i'll be upgrading subs. Sounds like your voice coil is bad. You need to find out how this problem arose instead of just buying a new sub to do the same thing to it, which would be ridiculous. You say this if it's entirely my fault that the coil failed. Could be the tinsel leads no? I dont know if maybe it has something to do with the cold weather? Cold weather wouldnt have nothing to do with it as long as you were playing it responsibly, it would either be user error or a error that happened after it left FI. That is why I said what are your amp's settings so we can tell if it was you or not. Hopefully you dont have bass boost or loud on your amp or headunit. I didnt say it was your fault no where in those two sentences, so how you figured that out from what I said makes it look like your fault since you got offended. A sub does what the user tells it to do so if it didnt come broke then it could only break from one other way, that is user error (thats it). But it would be smart to figure out how it got damage then just to buy another sub so you will know if you did it or not, and if you did it then buying another sub would result in the same activity.

    Help choosin Fi speaker

Naw your looking at the resistance ohms, dont worry about that at all. Get the D1 version so you can wire it in series to 2 ohms: Dont use the cap, buy a volt meter also so you can watch your voltage to see what else you will need (extra battery or alternator). Big 3: There is no such thing as underpowering anything, so your amp will power the BL and BTL well (they would still have some more output in them if you got another amp though). That plug on your box is for the consumer who purchased the equipment to know what ohm load that it is running at without taking everything out the box (so it will be whatever your speaker is wired to).

    hifonics brutus

I bet your nightshade wants way more power than that. If your on a budget then you can go with them but I wouldnt, I would look at Audioque or Audiopipe over Hifonics. Just my .02

Why doesnt my Q 12 work?

What equipment do you have in your car (amp, electrical upgrades)? What are your settings on your amp? Get a DMM and measure your voice coils and see what they are reading.

Also do you think a cap or extra battery is called for ? How many farads or how big of a battery? My deck only has one subwoofer output , so should i get a line driver. im going to rewire my subs also at 2 ohms what size wire is best ? Thanks for all the help No cap, what is your vehicle and what is your alternator's output in amps? I would say do the Big 3 Wiring, get a 100AH battery and a voltmeter to watch your voltage and you should be ok. When it comes to speaker wire then anywhere from 10 gauge to 14 gauge would be fine on your subs but some do 8 gauge and that is overkill to me unless you got some powerful subs. Whats the big three? Is it the battery ,alternator, thing. Im not sure how to do it but i can do some looking around on the web. Its a olds mini van the batterys volts are 15 at the amp. whats a 100h battery. thanks (check out for Big 3)

  18. jcarter1885

dont drill me for this question please..

You need to make a compromise and either decide on Xcons or BTLs then decide what amp you want but if you want to spend the money then by all means get it for the Xcons. You will have to watch your gains, control the volume knob wisely, be able to look/hear/smell signs of stress on the woofers. If you dont know how to do this or not comfortable doing this then dont do it. Just my .02 Besides that your gonna need way more electrical upgrades also if you want to run the 4500D which is more money for watts you wont be using also.

    spl general question

thanks for the answer very helpful! Will a spl box doing lets say 150 db in a tahoe then same box put in lets say a charger will it be different do to the vehicles acoustics ? Yes every vehicle will sound different and have different results regardless if all the equipment is the same, so everything from sound to spl score will be different.

    spl general question

These are words on the computer, when did typing show emotion or anything. I simply answered his question and said to type clearly and better, so its easier to read and its part of the rules. If you got offended by it or by my answers then thats you and some issues you have to deal with yourself because Im not up tight or anything.
  22. I would go with the lightest gray you can get or get it to match your interior panel covers. Can be covered in paint, vinyl or carpet (its up to you on how much money you want to spend, what you know how to do).
