big 3 wire length

The best way to tell is get some measuring tape or better yet some string and that will give an accurate amount or close to. Thats what I did -
New Setup, Starting from Zero. Tips Welcomed!
jcarter1885 replied to slim142's topic in Fi Technical
You can play with the Bass setting on the receiver, you just dont want it to go to high because then you are boosting it. Usually you want to only go from 0 on down, then just mess with your amps gains. Even the treble you dont want to go to high on and add a lot of boost to your system because that is how you mess up internal speakers. To much boost is bad for almost any speakers. -
Good job, you can tell its a girl's car by the clutter inside.

I would recommend you do the Big # wiring in the car while you dont have any subs. Where I just told you a minute ago in one of the post (those should be your head unit settings). I was gonna say use your ear to determine how to set the gain but that doesnt work in your case, get a DMM (even though is not the most accurate but will be better than you using your ears). No bass boost head unit or amp, no loudness on head unit either. Low Pass on amp between 65-100Hz, depends on your preference (80hz is the norm).

I would get my subwoofer fixed and then adjust my settings to where they should be and enjoy my setup for how long it last or until you want an upgrade in the future (the cheapest resolution to your current problem).

On your head unit do not touch the Bass Boost/Extend or Loudness feature. You can turn up your subwoofer lever as high as it goes if you have one and you can adjust the Bass(on the Bass,Mid,Treble features) to 0. -
We need more information; such as: box size, tuning frequency, amp your using, vehicle upgrades if any. I wouldnt recommend upgrading anything if your clipping the Q then you will do the same thing to the BL. I would suggest that you get it fixed since that will be cheaper, now if you dont like your Q or something then the upgrading and spending money decision is up to you.

Thats what I was saying but everybody wanted to blame it on the cold weather, fucking hilarious if you ask me

Rockford fosgate T1 12" vs. Fi ssd 12"
jcarter1885 replied to mustangsub's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Id personally go with the SSD's but if money is a problem then go for the Rockford Fosgate's. Forbid if anything happened to the SSD's you can get them fixed with FI's great customer service. Just my .02 -

How to sync two different amps

Also do you think a cap or extra battery is called for ? How many farads or how big of a battery? My deck only has one subwoofer output , so should i get a line driver. im going to rewire my subs also at 2 ohms what size wire is best ? Thanks for all the help No cap, what is your vehicle and what is your alternator's output in amps? I would say do the Big 3 Wiring, get a 100AH battery and a voltmeter to watch your voltage and you should be ok. When it comes to speaker wire then anywhere from 10 gauge to 14 gauge would be fine on your subs but some do 8 gauge and that is overkill to me unless you got some powerful subs. [/quot Whats the big three? Is it the battery ,alternator, thing. Im not sure how to do it but i can do some looking around on the web. Its a olds mini van the batterys volts are 15 at the amp. whats a 100h battery. thanks ok thanks buddy you have been alot of help and i think im going to go with a small kinik battery. Some other kind of car audio battery not to big because i dont think i need all that. when the amps draw power from the cars electrical, batteries and alt, the voltage drops. to monitor the voltage install a voltage meter. this is important because low voltage will FRY!!! your amps. 100ah batter is just a ratting on the battery. so what u need to do are: (this list is what jaycee said and his recommendation, im just simplifying it into a list. to jay cee if this is incorrect let us know) big three voltmeter check battery rating -if ratting is 100ah keep it -if rating is below 100ah you may want to replace it or add a 2nd batt in the trunk. Thinking is what is gonna get you messing up your equipment, I wouldnt be telling you what battery you need to get if you didnt need it. Your gonna need a 100AH battery if you want to run all three of those amps in your car, a small battery will not help you out one bit.

Hijack Shizzzon could you direct me "where there's a user doin over a 150 with a single 8" I would love to read as much as I can about the install Spanks errr Thanks

I think you should go with the Q 12" and make another box for or get one made (really for any sub you buy, they need a box that is recommended for them or it wont sound good). What is your budget for a sub?

jcarter1885 replied to pitbull239's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
With any big time sub amp I would run another battery and an HO Alternator, get a voltmeter also to watch my voltage. Considering you will only be using it at 2 ohms you wont be drawing as much power as you would if you were using it a 1 ohm. I dont use capacitors and wouldnt recommend it. **Do the Big 3 Wiring also. -
what amps?
jcarter1885 replied to pitbull239's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I made an update to my last post, there are some other amps out there. Im biased to Sundown amps due to there quality, customer service, rated power at 12 volts instead of 14 volts like others. -
what amps?
jcarter1885 replied to pitbull239's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
How many amps you have does not determine it can give it more wattage, the amount of watts that amps put out is the determining factor. You either can get two amps that are 1 ohm stable that can be strapped together for a 2 ohm load or find you an amp that does what you need it to do at 2 ohms such as Kicker amps. 2 of these strapped: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Sundown-Audio-SAZ%252d1000D.html or 1 of these: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Sundown-Audio-SAZ%252d4500D-Pre%252dorder.html or AudioPipe AP3000.1D but you would have to watch your gain and use your volume knob wisely. -

jcarter1885 replied to pitbull239's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Please read new member posting guidelines and fix this topics so we can help you better, Thanks. Way more information is needed on your part: budget, electrical upgrades, etc. Max wattage doesnt mean a thing, find you a 2000 watt rms amplifier that will fit your budget, why get two amps instead of one. What voice coil rating are your subs? (see how this information could have given to us to skip all these questions Im asking you). -
Not a problem, but like I said if you dont have the space then 12"s would do better in a recommended box then 15"s in too small of a box. Good luck with choice.
