what amp for 15 inch nightshade?
jcarter1885 replied to akuma4u's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
yes im mr noob to car audio thank u for noticing. I was told by like 3 guys that the nightshade can handle and take WAY more than 1500 rms,. 2 guys tell me they give it 3000rms + and it still asks for more,. If you know what your doing, in the right enclosure and under the right circumstances and if you dont know what your doing then you wont have a sub for too long. It is not how much power that it can take but how much does it need, it only needs 1500 rms what it was recommended for by the manufacturer. If competiting then that is another story, 2000 rms wont be different or noticeable then 1500 rms. Stop listening to people thinking what they do you can do. -
Some are too lazy to, research goes along way and will get you a lot farther in life.

what amp for 15 inch nightshade?
jcarter1885 replied to akuma4u's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the guy i bought the sub from said its best to run it at 2 ohms since the sub is designed that way,.. so i will need an amp that pumps enough power at 2 ohms for that sub,... how many watts rms does the 2000d and 3000d run at 2 ohms?? thanks Go look them up and do some research to see what they do you could find this answer on your own then waiting around for someone to tell you. The sub must be a D1 ohm if thats why he said that, what voice coil configuration does it have? -

db-r.com is a place that sells used Sundown Audio amps, thats all. It depends on what your stock alternator is, if you are trying to run the SAZ-3000D then yeah you will need a ho alternator. There is no point in trying to run double the rms to the subwoofer unless you know what you are doing, stick to its rms rating and you will still get the output it was intended for. -

I hope you plan on doing the Big 3, buying a voltmeter and a battery to support this amplifier. -
Use gain wisely, don't use Bassboost and set your gains with a DMM or an O-Scope, Keep an ear out for distortion. and it will handle it just fine. x2, music is dyanamic also so more than likely it wont see that power all the time anyway. If your getting this to run it at 1 ohm then I wouldnt do it unless you know what your doing, I wouldnt run neither one off of a SAZ-1500D but it could be done if done wisely.

x2 but goals and budget would help also. Still Sundown's FTW!

what amp should i go with?
jcarter1885 replied to bdogg81's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
x2, yeah the Sundown will do what you want it to and if you upgrade in the future you always have to ability to run something at 2000watts @ 1 ohm. -
Oh yeah here is a going active topic I made to get a better understanding of the process, it doesnt answer all questions but it has some good questions and technical information for anybody wanting to get there feet wet in going active.
-
There are plenty of ways to run an active setup; either using your amps, headunit or external processor. If your headunit is capable of running speakers active then yeah you dont have to deal with the amps crossovers. If your headunit is not capable of running active then you need to have an amp with the capabilities or an external processor to get your frequencies where they need to be. What you could do is tell us the headunit your using, amp you will be using and speaker set you will be using and plenty of people including myself will guide you throughout the process.

Its coming along slowly, have you got your wall designed yet?

Neat looking sub, tuned into this one.

Another question is what is your budget for subwoofer, amplifier if you want to get a new one and what electrical upgrades have you done or are willing to do?
-
I think he is going sealed so 2 cubes would be enough for a 15".

Does it do rated power?
jcarter1885 replied to wof131s's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I doubt it, Im always skeptical of amps that put there peak power rating on them.
