Sundown Audio Z-15" (D4) Enclosure
jcarter1885 replied to jcarter1885's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Luckily I didnt have to make it, I had a shippin box that was a little over 17"H and exactly 20" W (just my luck that day). I could of did it but didnt want to have to struggle with getting that box in and out of there like I had to do my old one. -
I am designing an enclosure for a Sundown Audio Z-15 (D4 wired to 2 ohms on a Sundown Audio SAZ-2000D), it will be a daily driver. I listen to a lot of chopped and screwed, r&b, old school and rap so I decided to stick with 31Hz. This may be a temporary box or a full time box depending on how it and the sub treat me. I havent build a box since August of 2008 so its been a while, my max dimensions are 16.5"H x 34"W x 21"D. Jacob told me I can make the enclosure as big as 4ft^3 and tuning anywhere from 30-35Hz and 28Hz if I wanna go lower. So right now Im sitting with a box at 3.85ft^3 @ 31hz with 60 in^2 of port area (port area range = 46-62in^2). Made of 3/4" mdf, standard slot port (l-shaped) opening. Enclosure Dimensions Outside = 16.5"H x 33"W x 20"D Port = 15"H x 4"W x 29.75"D Sub Displacement = 0.19ft^3 Physical Port Length = 15.25" Cut-Out Baffles Back = 33" x 15" Front = 28.25" x 15" Right Side = 18.5" x 15" Left Side = 19.25" x 15" Port 1 = 14.5" x 15" Port 2= 7.75" x 15" Bottom/Top = 33" x 20" (2) Thanks for help, if there need to be any corrections than let me know I would appreciate it. I got the specs from two different box designing programs.

Sundown Audio Z-15" (D4) Enclosure

Thanks man and no problem, glad you could help. I ended up getting read to go to Home Depot and buy the wood when I decided to do a mock up box and seen that the one you made a few weeks back would not fit with my trunk floor board so I decided to go smaller. -
So when it comes to your batteries than should we ignore the AH rating or should consumers ignore the AH rating when shopping for a battery period. From my understanding and some of the things I heard it is usually at best to have at least your half your amps rating in Ah worth of batteries.

Well I appreciate it, didnt know you guys batteries were that powerful.

Very well put, some people dont understand the work you guys do and are only worried about themselves (getting in touch with yall when they want to, getting there product when they want it even though you give them lead times before they purchase it). Some consumers dont use the common knowledge they have, but keep up the good work fellas and do what is best for you guys.

Enough power for 2 15" flatlyne sub woofer
jcarter1885 replied to Play4dow's topic in Incriminator Audio
x2, any amp will be fine with speakers since there is no such thing as underpowering. -
These subs will perform in there respected enclosure, all those numbers wont mean anything since every install is different and every vehicle has different cabin gains so numbers will vary. You shouldnt compare subs to other subs unless comparing T/S Parameters, since that is what is important when choosing a subwoofer and how it will perform. It shouldnt be hard to reach your goals with that type of vehicle and this equipment, give us a budget and that will help us point you in the right direction.

Very nice looking equipment you have there -
Cant wait to see pictures of your craftmanship

1200-1500 depending on install and application, but they dont need that much power thrown at them (really arent designed for that since there SQ subs).

Do i have the power?
jcarter1885 replied to Toonsketcher's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you cant afford any big upgrades at least do the Big 3 for now, will be the cheapest electrical upgrade you can do that will help out some. -
chopped and screwed

I listen to it since it originated here and grow on me over the years while growing up. I usually get the old school, r&b and other renditions of popular music that they chop and screw. I just got the Michael Jackson Classics and it is incredible cant wait to get my setup together so I can listen to it on a real system. It is just a way they slow the music down and the chop (or repeat a line one or two times).

Then you have to make sure you have the right electrical to deliver 2000 watts to those subs. Like stated above get the 3000D and be safe with knobs and volume but you should just stick with the 2000D since it is overrated. If you get the 3000D you minus well get the BP Option on your subs just to help you out thermally because eventurally your gonna wanna push your amp (usually that is habit, that will protect your woofers some as long as it is clean power).

RMS nobody goes by peak value. -
Excellent video and the dancer bear is FTW!

What are your max dimensions, or if you know off hand how much room do you have for an enclosure (ft.^3).
