The displacement of the BL and any other subwoofer they sell is on there site no matter fully loaded or not it will have the same displacement. When manufacturers give recommended specs it is talking about box volume after displacements (sub, port and bracing).

Unless your gonna run ungodly amounts of power I dont see the point of going below recommended box size, you should just get a smaller sub it will perform better in a 4.5-5 ft^3 since that is the room you have for it. Just my .02

Nice looking box, wish I could tell you what it will sound like but I hope it sounds good. I had a box tuned that low (didnt do good on upper frequenciess but crushed the low notes )

If your telling your self that 2-15"s will be to much then go 18" but it all depends on what speakers your looking at. Go for what fits in your budget, what you can get a recommended enclosure for and what fits your needs/preferences for your install. We cant help you this will have to be a compromise that you make on your own, which car audio is all about Compromises.

my new meter and the set up!

Very creative and nice install -
It's an amplifier. It won't (or shouldn't) affect the sound at all. So asking how an amplifier sounds is not an appropriate question to ask. If he wanted to ask if they did rated power, were reliable, etc., those would probably be questions he's actually after. And the answer to both is no. x2, if you like it and it fits your budget and install needs then get it. Please make better questions in the future, amps will do there job that is why some are still on shelves, does it mean it will do rated power or will others buy it is a different question. So you shouldnt ask a question that will lead to answers that are personal or bias for future reference.

I dont see why not, as long as you send them clean unclipped power then it shouldnt be a problem. Set your gains right, watch how you roll the volume knob and have some fun.

Whatever I can get my hands on that cuts in a circle, havent thought about it yet. I didnt even plan on building the box yesterday and you see what happened so who knows but it will get down in due time.
-
I honestly think it will be right up my alley and cant wait to hear that first note from it, I havent had ear sex in over 3 months (I miss my bass).

Im exicted just to hear my sub, dont really care for the enclosure but Im pleased with my effort. I will be building the same box over again in the future when I get some more patience on my hands. It was a quick idea to build the box and not a well thought out plan which would of helped the box come out easier and better looking. It was fun and well worth it, Im excited I got my first box done and cant wait to get better at building enclosures. I learned a lot of do's and dont's today while making this enclosure that will help me in the future with enclosure building.

headunit keeps telling me to check cd core???
jcarter1885 replied to groundpoundmonte's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
x2, that is if you still have the manual every head unit has a troubleshooting list that comes with it. -
Thanks it is just a temporary box for now, will make another one during the summer but at least wanted something for now whenever I decide to throw it in the car.
-
Thanks man, yeah Im so afraid of things getting damaged that I will pay for the extra weight for extra weight from stuffing material just to make sure it survived the trip. Glad you received your speaker in good condition and great doing business with, excellent buyer .

I built the box today, the only thing I have to do is put the top piece on, seal around the top piece once I screw it in and make the cutout hole for subwoofer. I would of finished but the drill died on me and the asshole who let me borrow it didnt tell me he didnt have the charger with him but at least it died in between drills then when I needed it the most. The enclosure did not come out as good as I expected since I like things perfect but it was my first time building an enclosure by myself and not helping like in the past. It is a temporary box and it only cost me around $40 after it is all said and done (wood, screws, titebond II, t-nuts and bolts). Enough of the jibberish on to a few pictures (I didnt take a lot of them, I was to busy rushing since I knew I had limited amount of drill battery time).

Just because your amp is rated at 1000 watts does not mean you have it send all of it to the sub, it doesnt mean that the sub will see the 1000 watts all the time neither since music is dynamic. There is no problem with having some headroom in an amplifier so dont worry about that just make sure you set your gains right.

The ETA is the next few days as stated above your post.

If your thinking of going sealed then your only options are FI Q and FI SSD.
-
Well that should tell you that they are loud and have good sound quality which depends on what they wanted their install to sound like; so it is usually box, goals and install dependent on what your subs will sound like. But the subs will have both sound quality and plenty of output to go with it.

Equipment looks good

we gunna see the beginning of a box tonight? Who knows, not in a rush to build it just yet (gotta make sure everything is done as planned, no half assing on this install or enclosure build).
-
Came back from Home Depot and spent $70 on clamps .
-
Your enclosure should be the size they recommend or a little bigger since your only giving it 300 watts: Sound Solutions Audio - XCON Series Subwoofers
-
Then you should buy a different sub I dont feel like going through the hassel of selling my btl not getting out of it what i would want then ordering something else. Instead you feel like the hassle of driving around in a super uncomfortable position? Come on. x2, that sounds ass backwards but to each its own. Car audio is about compromise and you choose to be uncomfortable just to squeeze an 18" in there, just get a 15" if it is that much of a problem (wont loose on too much output).

It is going to affect the sound and volume of your subs output by a substantial margin, your going from 53hz to 30 something hz. You will play lower frequencies better and lack some output that you had with that high tuning but it should sound way better in my opinion.
