Little question about the big 3
jcarter1885 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
To answer your question simply, I would put the bigger wire 2/0 AWG on battery to chassis ground and smaller wire 1/0 AWG on engine block to chassis ground -
Wanting to put 4 mids and 4 tweeters in the door.

No I dont know any of there pricing at all, you wont need that many drivers really. You just need to have a great horn to mid power ratio. I will have around 40 watts for my horns and 120-160 clean watts for my mids, if it is not loud enough then upgrade. What amps do you have, what processing will you be using? -

I know how loud it is and have been there, I used to have 20 interior speakers and when you turned it up, it screamed (you could not sit in the car at all). This was when I was in school at Florida where the Pro Audio drivers and tons of speakers are used to make clear highs that will travel for long distances. I have heard some highs from over 2 miles aways (granted some people used horns outside there vehicles, which I personally hate). There are two ways to do this either get a real good set of speakers up front possibly some 8" or 10" drivers (1 in each door) and a pair of horns or even keep the ones you have now (selenium has nice horns as well, I ordered these last week until I get the Ultra's from Image Dynamics). Put power on them, get you a nice amount of head room so you can give them nice clean power when you do want to crank them (this will allow you to have a lower number of speakers with the ability to get loud and still have some clarity). -

You have the right equipment to get loud, your just not setting it up right. You definitely are gonna need more power to get louder with this new setup you want vs. the one you have now. I dont see how horns werent loud enough for you, that is 107db efficiency. I have some 97db efficient speakers and they kill the loudness department. -
You minus well put them on the SAZ-4500D and they will still have some reserve thermal handling left in them. 3 D1's will yield you 1.5 ohm load 3 D2's will yield you a 1.34 ohm load It really wont make a difference but I would go with 3 D2's.

I had these in one of my old rides and really liked them. They handle lots of power and get loud as hell, without straining and distorting. Yes they are very detailed and clear even if given dirty power it is hard to get them to distort but they will if you push them hard enough. A lot of people sleep on these speakers, if I ever go passive again it will be strictly Infinity.

Surely you could set some money aside for this. Or I can send you and Mark some to do volunteer work on my behalf

Looking real good, I love the sound Infinity speakers put out (one of my favorite brand speakers).

Naw I didnt get these kind, way to harsh to my ears but to each its own. Like said before you wouldnt need 4 at all, since they are so sensitive you would actually need a lot more component sets than what you have just to keep up with one of these tweeters. My bad. Sorry about that. No problem, I was going to get them before I gave them a listen to a few years back (they do sream dont get me wrong, Im talking about stupid loud). You got the big bulky lookin black ones correct? i thought you did but wasn't 100 percent sure Yeah I got the black ones, they will just be placed on my dash with no attempt at installing them in a particular location at all since they are just gonna be temporary.

Yet again, another gain and filters question(s)
jcarter1885 replied to BanginGMC's topic in General Audio
x2, if you want louder you have to pay for louder either by getting more power (clean power) or better equipment. If you dont have experience in listening for speaker distortion then play with an older pair of speakers you have lying around so if you mess them up it wont set you back. -

Is This Amp Any Good
jcarter1885 replied to wof131s's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If it puts out low frequencies and gets your subs moving then yes it is a good amp, especially with the amount of information you gave us to go off of. -
Keep up the good work man

Nice build log and even complete with videos already on page 1:

Forget shipping updates, I wanna see pictures

For speaker wire 10 or 12 gauge will suffice for your application, I would go with grill number #1 since it gives you more clearance for your sub to move around. When you bond wood together, use some type of wood glue (I use Titebond II) and either screws or nails (the preference is yours). If you have clamps or can get your hands on some it would help out as well. If you use screws try not to screw 4 - 6 inches from the ends or you will split the wood IIRC. Hope that helps.

Thanks. And I was messing with my dad and gf about the batteries. Once I had them all in I said that I just had to get the other half in. They were both like wtf. I told them that I was gonna do a rack above the ones that are in and get 8 more. I had them going for like 5 minutes lol. I bet the expressions on their face when you said that was priceless.

Dont set your gains with a DMM for your interior speakers, use your ears please -
That is a decision you will have to make, its your money and equipment. I would install and see how it sounds then go from there, just my .02
-
Yeah after seeing you upgrade it was that time and also my friend wanted a sub and nice enclosure so I said why not. These last two days I have been installing his system, Im about to go finish everything up and seal the inside of this box since he finally got the hole cut in it. By tomorrow or Monday I will actually hear the Z15 in a box, I only tested it a few times in free air off the SAX-125.2 and enjoyed it. Im upset cause I was so close to having bass but now the wait will keep going, at least Im working on my front stage. You already know plans stay changing, I have some equipment coming this week so its time to keep this build going. I want to be on your level man

Crescendo Audio?

I dont see why not, looks like it should be on par with performance. Someone needs to take a chance and grab it, then put up a review for us. -
