1500 watts is enough for a BTL, 2000 watts is enough for a BTL, 2500 watts is enough for a BTL. It will depend on listening habits, goals (competing or daily), enclosure size and so on. If you think it needs 2500 to get to full power or reach its intended output your not going about this right so give more information and we can help you better. Also make sure your budgeting some money to upgrade your electrical as well, it can be done just depends on a lot of factors.

x2, a BL on steroids.

Are the pairs in each door enough or are you going for another pair? Seems like it is what you are after, I like how loud and clear it is.

, congrats on getting things working. Yeah I hate that about trucks myself.

Amp choices
jcarter1885 replied to lazeris's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I damn sure wouldnt say Sundown is higher quality then Rockford Fosgate, your amps getting hot is not the amps fault at all more so like user error (too low of an ohm load, sorry electrical or bad air flow around the amps among other things). Give us a budget to work with. -
that was stupid funny, bear paw.

Alpine deck plays tuner but not cd's or ipod.
jcarter1885 replied to Dpaw37's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would take it back to where I got it from, who installed it? -
Makes no sense, at least set a budget and give us more information on your goals besides I just want one 15". Do you have electrical upgrades or will you be doing them in the future and so on?

Thats the problem now days, people see someone throwing more than double the RMS to the subwoofer and everybody thinks they can do it. The sub has a recommended rms for a reason so stick with it, plus box size plays a role in amount of power being thrown at the driver among other things (competing/daily use, control of the volume knob, listening habits and so on). Just cause you see someone doing it doesnt mean you can it is way more factors to his install that allow him to use that much power on his BTL's so if you dont know why or what your doing then stick to recommended specs.

You still should of left it up, it would be a quick tutorial for a person with the same question in the future regardless the simplicity of the question being asked.

I really doubt you know what's going to be better for the JL motor than JL does. After all, who spent millions on R&D? You or JL? Just saying, you're pretty much ruining resale value on it as well. It's an SQ subwoofer, good at sounding good. It's not some fart machine that you cobble together using bastard parts to hit 150+dB where it doesn't matter if it sounds good or not. I never said that I was trying to hit 150+dB. I just wanted to have it rebuilt for my own personal uses not to compete or anything of the sort. I wasn't implying that you were, I was using custom recones as an example. Thanks for being so uptight about it though. Don't ask for advice if you're not going to follow any of it. x2, dude nobody is hurting you everybody is helping you. They are telling you the best place to get it reconed, simple as that. Now if you dont want to take there advice then go your own way, you should of known it would be expensive to fix it is JL Audio with special parts. Would a custom re-cone work by another group, yes but will it perform and sound the same probably not. Would it be wise to get it fixed by another company when the same company who built it can build it, no. But at the end of the day it is your money and your equipment, but stop getting your panties in a bunch from the responses you receive. Read the rules, they state: 13) If you start a thread, you must be willing to ACCEPT advice even if you dont like it. So just take it and move on, either use the advice or lose the advice.

Blues Production Sub's. . . . . . . Remember
jcarter1885 replied to HiFonicsHorder1's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Sticky stuff don't like any surface that has every been Armor All'ed. Been there tried that, it will not stick. Rubbing down with alcohol or cleaning solutions don't work. The Armor All type products are absorbed into the pores of the plastic. The set with all the holes is an old set. I also have the set that came in the truck and a new set in the boxes. Not my 1st rodeo. Your definitely right about that, I have tried to attach things to my dash after putting armor all on it months before and it still wouldnt stick. Well I tried, hopefully you can find some replacement panels or just fix your current ones. I hope you get the tweeter placement situated. -
I definitely didnt condone what John Holmes said but regardless it is the rules (no way around them, plain and simple as that). Power would also play a good role in what size box to use as well. Just give info and details to help give a better answer, it is really helping you in the long run.

u didnt need details i just needed to no if u could go sealed or what was the smallest i could go ported Actually yeah you do need to provide details, that is what is stated in the topic posting guidelines. Regardless if you feel you dont need to provide details you do and it will help you plus others reading this topic in the future who may be in the same situation. Just a heads up

Best songs for xcon demo's
jcarter1885 replied to gadgeteer123's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Nobody claim to know more than anybody or to be anyones friend on here, stop getting your panties in a bunch because people disagree with you. Its just a forum and reality, it happens (nobody has to be on your side or agree with you all the time, thats just what it is). I could go on further but no point, you let your true emotions just show and that was enough for you (if I knew everything I wouldnt be on here ). -
Which One?!?!?!
jcarter1885 replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I always try to order more wire than neccessary so that way you will never be short some feet (that would suck), plus it always comes in handy in my build or another build im doing in the future. -
No problem at all.

+ on speaker to positive on crossover, positive on crossover to positive on amplifier.
